Hello there everyone..
Another beautiful day here with the hint of Spring in the air..
If you look at the picture above you can see it down there in the far field and just around the corner.. grin..
When we get to the end of March we may be at the turn..
Oh Canada...
How we love your seasons.. smile..
I forgot to mention that my hubby bought me a new sewing machine...
It is not an expensive one but just right for taking to Keepers meetings and such..
Today, I spent time getting it threaded and figuring it all out..
Not too complicated but took a bit of time..
So excited for our next meeting on Saturday morning..
I have been scanning the book shelves and Pinterest trying to find something that will interest everyone..
My birthday plant is still blooming.. So pretty..
I love plants this time of year and have quite a few herbs now on my window sill..
They are all doing well except for the basil..
I think I will cut it down and make a nice salad dressing with it and hope it comes back healthier..
I bought the oval pan at the Thrift shop that is hanging on the rack in the pantry..
It is heavy and I have been using it to put water in and then the custard cups..
I think it has an original use but do not know what it is..
Do any of you know?
Well, dear hearts I must go..
We had a wonderful Bible Study tonight..
So blessed with hearing the Word...
Tomorrow I am hoping to get to the library..
Do you ladies use one..
I think it is one of my fave places to spend time..
Also, I plan on visiting the health food store and get
some more seeds for sprouting and a thrift shop..
Then..
I have to get my eyes tested.. Yuk...
I get so nervous that I steam up the eye thing and the poor doctor spends more time clearing it then giving me my test.. sigh..
Why... why... Do I have to have this stupid phobia??..
I will surely guzzle at least 2 cups of tea trying to calm myself..
And the thing is that it doesn't even hurt..
Now,..you all know how weird I really am.. smile..
Hopefully, it won't change your good opinion of me.. grin..
Just pray for me...
You all have a great week and I will get back to you soon..
Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely notes..
Love love them..
Blessings..
Oh, I almost forgot..
Here is the recipe for the icing I tried..
BROWNED BUTTER FROSTING
3 Tablespoons of butter
1 1/2 cups of icing sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
About 1 T. milk..
Heat butter in a small saucepan until delicately brown over medium heat. Mix into sugar.. Add vanilla..
Stir in milk until creamy..
This says it is enough for an 8 inch cake but next time I will double it.. I think..
Very good...
Take care..
Yes.. I am done...
Good evening Faye. I love your long look at spring just around the corner. It made me smile. The past few days have been lovely, sunny and mild haven't they? It makes one thing spring for sure. Your cyclamen is beautiful. I wish you well for your eye appointment tomorrow. Better than the dentist! Hugs, Pam
ReplyDeleteFaye, what a lovely post. I love herbs too, and tea. And bible study. We have a lot in common. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos ! Such pretty flowers I to like having blooms in the house during the winter months. Oh a new sewing machine from Terry that's wonderful ! Thanks for the butter frosting recipe I will have to try that ! I haven't been to a Library in years , I go to a second hand book store in town sometimes or use the internet now . We are in the midst of the storm that came up from the states they had cold and snow we have very windy mild and lots of rain they say it will let up by tomorrow afternoon maybe depends on how fast or slow the storm is traveling . Our hydro keeps flickering do may get a power outage I just hope the temps don't drop or everything will be covered in a layer of ice ! The feel and smell of spring is in the air here and the birdies are all happy and singing their spring songs now ! Have a wonderful evening !
ReplyDeleteHello Faye, Your cyclamen is so pretty. It is one of my favorite winter plants. It has memories for me...maybe that is why I like it so much. Do they dialate your eyes at the eye doctor's? None of it bothers me but I don't like going out in the light afterwards. Good luck. I just went and got new glasses and they are not right so will be going back tomorrow . Afterall, new glasses are to see better....right?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if your pan had a grate or another pan on the inside of the one you have...maybe for serving a large ham or beef? It is unusual with the handles are on the sides. Interesting!
Well, you take care and may His spirit live within you,
Susannah
Hi Faye, I hope all goes well at the eye dr. I had an eye appointment for tomorrow but had to switch it to Thursday.
ReplyDeleteI believe that pan is a paella pan, the delicious rice dish with chicken and sausage and sometimes shrimp, with tomatoes and broth and saffron. Just a guess because of the shape and handles. Oh well. Stay warm. xo
Faye, thanks once again for such a post as this and a warm visit to your neck of the woods. It looks cold there, but glad to hear you are seeing signs of spring far off :) Hope your keepers meeting is blessed and that your eye appointment is the best ever...stress and pain free! Your little place on the web is my last stop for the night, have a good nights rest.
ReplyDeleteBlessings~
Laura
Haha! You got me on that one, I went back and looked to see what you were saying to look for and realized it was "spring". :) You are so funny!
ReplyDeleteA new sewing machine, how fun is that!? I have enjoyed my new Kenmore. It's been a very good machine. I hope your new one is, too.
Hugs, Cindy
Faye,
ReplyDeleteI had an eye appt. a year ago and got reading glasses for the first time. I do wish you well with your eye appt. Your birthday plant is lovely, and it looks like you have been reading alot lately. I wish I could get back to reading - it's been such a long time. Have fun with your new sewing machine. My mother used to sew all my clothes when I was growing up, and even sewed my wedding dress.

Hi Faye;
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely day today - sounds fun with the library and thrift shop included!
I went to the library yesterday and came home with an arm load of books - oh dear.
Good luck on your eye exam.
Laurie
Don't worry dear Faye - just keep reminding yourself that it won't take long and doesn't hurt!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Christine
Phobias. We all have them. Yes, you are prayed for. The Lord exists outside of time so the fact that you asked for this prayer yesterday and I prayed it today doesn't phase Him a bit! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope that you had a lovely day full of blessings unimaginable.
~~Debbie
I have the same problem with steaming up the lens at the eye doc. He told me that most people make it steamy and I felt better about it after that :)
ReplyDeleteHi Faye, another wonderful visit.Praying that things went smoothly for you at the eye doctor. My hubby can not stand to talk about anything to do with eyes so he has trouble as well.Hugs,Jen
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are so nice. The flower is so cheerful. I hope all goes well with your eye exam. God bless.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your eye exam! I don't like anyone messing with my eyes, so I feel for you. Your recipe for the frosting sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteLovely flowers, Faye~ and I see you still have snow there.. *grin*
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful meeting this weekend~ can't wait to hear about it. And I should know by now not to visit here at 10:30 at night... your frosting recipe makes me want to run to the kitchen and whip up a batch... and I don't even have a cake to put it on! *haha*
Goodnight, sweet friend.
I just had my eye exam and thought I was the only one who hated going! Actually, the only thing I really dislike is when they puff the air into your eye and also the drops that dilate them. I hope your visit goes well. Lovely post, as usual!
ReplyDeleteHello from Wisconsin Mrs. Henry,
ReplyDeleteThis was my first time since my surgery
that I have sat in a up-right chair for more then 20min.
Praising the Lord for some improvement!
Yes,it's all about home and living our lives
according to the word of God and how he lays
out how families should live.
My wife and I have purchased many sewing machines for our girls
and are thankful they all seem to enjoy using them.
Raising girls to be keepers at home is a
lost thing in our culture, but it is still the
way we believe that God intended for young
ladies to be. Thank you for having your keepers
meetings... I'm sure they are a blessing!
Have a blessed afternoon and keep your JOY in Christ~
