Joyful Spring Days...

Good Evening everyone..

Don't you just love Spring days?

It doesn't matter to me whether they are rainy or sunny really..
I just love them anyway..

Everything is turning green and coming into blossom..
Outside on the deck the apple blossoms will soon be fragrant and their snow like petals will be everywhere..
The clothes line is always in use and Terry is busy with his little tractor again..
Cleaning up the orchard and getting the garden ready..
As you can tell he enjoys this kind of work.. grin..
Nice to have a happy man, eh!

We are working away on our taxes but we keep taking breaks to do something else.. smile..
There is just so much to do on a Spring day..

I am in the process of making dandelion jelly again for the shop..
It sells really well and is so good for you, of course..
It took several hours just to get the petals chopped of and now they are soaking to make a tea for tomorrow to turn into a batch of jelly..
Well, four batches to be accurate.. smile..
You can find the recipe HERE..

The violet oil is already, too..
I need to grate up some beeswax and get that little job finished as well..

While I was at it I decided to once again use my flower press..
I have been doing this since my older kids were young..
It must be 30 years since my first little violet picture.. smile..

Then of course, there are my herbs..
One of my great loves..
Today my special treat was a glass of tomato juice with a lovage straw in it..
It tastes delicious..

I have a whole crate of herbs to plant at my shop..
They were on special so we decided to get them and will take the load down next time and get them into the ground..

I noticed that my lovage came up again down there but it is not very big yet..
The plant here grows at least 5 or 6 feet tall..
I hope I get time to make some more pickles..
They were so different..

We had a tasty chowder made with the lobster which was left over from our little feast the other day.. smile..
Flavored with some dill..

Making some homemade bread and giving away a loaf.. smile.

All in all a busy day but a joyful one..
Thank you, sweet Lord..

I just wanted to tell you all how much I have been appreciating all of your sweet comments, lately..

I am glad you enjoyed my little story about the sweet couple in the last post.. smile..
Notice one of the comments where a lady actually knew these folks..
I think I know who left the comment but am not sure..
If you ever leave me a note this way please let me know some how who you are..
An email or something.. ok?
Thanks..

You are an awesome bunch of sweet ladies and I thank you for taking the time to drop by and then leaving me a comment..
I am trying to respond to each right on the blog..
OK?
It really does make blogging much more interesting..

Take care, now..

  5. Oh Faye my dear friend, I enjoy visiting with you in ALL seasons!! I always leave your blog feeling so refreshed. {And wishing I was as talented and motivated as you} Just want to pass along a little compliment to you. We talked about you at lunch today. Really can't remember how the subject came up but Holly said you were one lady she would just love to meet in person. She says you are so neat!!! After reading this will your summer hat still fit? {smile}. I fall short of commenting so many times, but always stop by to visit. Holly and I both enjoyed the post on the older couple. We talked about that too. So thanks for being there with us at lunch even though you are so far away. I just wanted to let you know, you never know whose life you may touch through blogging
    Hugs

  6. Hi Faye, First of all, let me say how muchI enjoyed your story in the last post.
They looked like such a sweet couple. I wanted to get to know them myself. Your story was wonderful. Do that again sometime, will you, Dearie?

When I first came to your blog tonight and I saw all the green plants...oh, my gosh...I got so excited for you because I could pick out the herbs and we all know that Faye loves her herbs. And I love hearing about them. I can not wait to see them growing. I used to have a bunch growing in an old wood strawberry carrier but after a few years, it started to rot so I put it away. I used to grow rosemary all the time but have not lately.

And there is my friend, Terry... out doing just what Jim has been doing .....tractor and wagon and trimming everything in sight. He made me giggle cause I know he was sending you a big armful of hugs! Bless his heart.

Okay, that is enough for this left hand. Can you tell I have been sitting around here lonely and can not wait to get the bandage off the right hand next Thursday? Could be worse.

    Great post.
    Take care and love,
    S.

  9. The lobster stew looks so yummy Faye. Even the dandelions look pretty all gathered in a bunch ready to be made into something you create. I'm a LOT tired of this rain all week. It's a bit much and I crave some sunshine and heat. But things sure are green!! Love the picture of Terry throwing you a hug. Murray would act like that too. :) Have a blessed weekend. Hugs.

  15. I agree with you "all in a busy day, but joyful one..." love that! We had an elderly neighbor growing up, her famous line was "keep busy, but don't work too hard" Her name was Esther. And, one of the hardest workers in our neighborhood - wooden leg and all! Blessings from Wisconsin.

  16. Hi Faye, I didn't get a chance yesterday to respond to your very sweet and dapper couple ( Doug is away and I have been sewing plus doing extra chores that he normally does). I loved your story about them and think you are right on the mark.
I must say I really admire everything you make. You certainly inspire me and I think I might try some of them. The only thing I am not sure where to get is the essential oils.
Your herbs look wonderful and Terry looks so happy on his tractor. Doug loves his too. Must be a guy thing.
I am really tired of this rain though although I know you don't care. My big long haired dog never seems to dry out so there is always that "eau de dog" smell.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

  20. Hello dear Faye,
You make so many wonderful things that I have never heard of, like Dandelion Jelly? I'm going to look at the recipe.
Your little shop is going to be full of wonderful and interesting little treasures, I wish with all of my heart that I could drop by... a little far though, eh?
Your photos are very pretty, I love the one with blossoms, my apple and crabapples are soon to blossom! I love
spring, too!!! It really is a time of joy!

  21. Oh, How I love spring too! We have spent the day cleaning and pressure washing our outdoor areas so that they are all ready for days outside on our deck and breakfasts in our screened in porch. There is nothing like the early morning outdoor breakfast even if there is an occasional chill in the air. Your apple trees are lovely!
