Farm Journal 5

Happy Saturday everyone.. 

Here we are almost the end of July and I still don't feel like Summer has really begun.. Do you?  

We have had hot days but this past week felt so much like Fall especially during the nights.. 

I know.. It is much better then snow.. 

Anyway.. 

This is Farm Journal number 5.. 

I am a bit quicker on the draw this time then last.. 

I think only about a week between posts.. 

The thing is that when we were here and I posted last week I left my camera card in the computer and could only take 8 pics until a couple of days ago.. 

We had a town day and I purchased another card just so I could take a few pics for you all.. smile.. 

The above pic is the lace curtains in the livingroom.. I should call this the lace curtain post as there are several more.. grin.. 

We were down to the cottage last weekend and had one of Shonda's dearest friends (Laurie) in for a wee visit.. 

She is a darling and she and Shonda have been friends since grade 2... Anyway, she had read my post the night before and said so seriously..."Faye, do you mean Victorian?"  ... 

Oh my... 

No, dear girls I have not switched to Victorian... 

I did so many of that style of crafts during my hay day in the craft world that the very word makes me cringe.. No offence to you sweet Victorian lovers but I do love lace, roses, potpourri, linens, toile and so on.. But no... no Victorian.. 

Just antiquey.. I don't think that is a word but you get my drift, eh?  

On with the post.. 

The garden is coming along lovely thanks to my dear husband.. 

Please note his BBQ planter of which he is so proud.. 

Full of tomatoes and such.. 

I did a couple of wee changes in the pantry.. 

Can you spy them?  

We brought up the old cupboard from my shop there by the frypans.. 

There is a cutting board that pulls out so you can place something on it to stir or whatever and it has lots of shelves.. 

I do not really have it organized yet but soon, I hope.. 

Oh and a new frying pan holder.. 

So handy .. Terry made me some wire S hook things and so convenient instead of digging and looking for the right size.. 

And... 

Redid the pantry window.. 

Almost finished.. 

Blue dishes and cream lace and blue cups hanging at the top.. 

I just need to add a flower to the vase and it should be done.. 

So loving my blues.. 

Brought home this set of blue cutlery from the cottage.. 

A fellow blogger and friend wrote a book called Wren Bay.. 

It is about making a home and her cover photo was cutlery in a lovely mason jar of dried something... 

Our grandsons were up for a day this week and asked me.. 

" Grandma, what is this for?"  

LOL.. 

"Oh, just a little project Grandma did to hold the cutlery.. 

"Mmmmm.. nice!"  grin..

This is one of my favourite books and I use it kind of like a cook book perse as it is full of recipes and projects.. 

The story is lovely, also.. 

Still taking a drive here and there.. 

And drying flowers ... 

Searching the road sides as we drive along.. 

Do you do that?  

Bought myself a new pair of work gloves.. 

Terry picked me a bunch of Queen Anne's Lace to dry and I picked 32 heads to make jelly.. 

It turned out beautifully and I like it as well or even better then Rose Petal Jelly..

We have not had time to change dear Aunt Eva's colours in some of the rooms yet.. 

The upstair bathroom is one of those.. 

Hot pink??  grin..

I think the doilie curtain I made last summer is perfect on this window with the colours of the quilt.. 

I wish I could have got a pic of the colours exactly but my camera would not cooperate.. 

No closet doors but the curtain does the trick.. 

Scarlet Runner beans and Green and Wax.... 

We had some wonderful help this week getting the back stoop redone.. 

Hopefully, it will be finished this week.. 

Trev and his sons came for a day and we had a great time.. 

We came home today to stay overnight as Terry and some of the boys went to the races.. 

We brought the truck as he wanted to bring the tiller for the garden he has here .. 

I was waiting for him to come out in the car and noticed he had a passenger... 

Just waiting patiently...

We still have so many projects to do.. 

Preserves will be calling my name soon and although I have finished a few small projects the dear man is taken up with carpentry for now.. 

My bunting, valances, hankie line, bird bath are just sitting and waiting to be put up... 

Next time, perhaps... eh?

Simple Everyday Things..

Good Evening, my dears.. 

Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight.. 

It certainly has been busy around here and I know you are all the same.. 

Winter is such a slow time and we start off in the Spring and now everyone is going full tilt.. 

I must say that I love the busyness of it all.. 

Nice long evenings and sunny days and even the rainy nights we have been having this week... 

Life is such a fleeting thing and I think we need to find joy in the simple everyday things, eh?  

We have had a lot of joyful happenings in our family with graduation and parties and such., 

I thought I would post a few pics of our days here and there... 

This is our oldest son with his Dad...  

They are going bear hunting ... 

We didn't realize that Trevor was going to be there at the same time so I packed a book, my list notebooks and a coffee and thought I would wait for Terry in the truck.. 

He was only going to stay an hour or so and I like to wait for him sometimes... smile.. 

My friends think I am nuts and perhaps I am but that is what we do... 

Anyway.. it was worth the wait as I received this lovely little bouquet from him when he came out..

One of my all time favourite wild flowers...

The Moss Roses are out now.. 

Aren't they gorgeous?  

Terry has bushes planted down both sides of the lane here at home.. 

I am drying them for a few items I like to make.. 

Rose Powder and Bath Salts and such... 

I made up my Violet Salve, finally..

And decorated the jars...

I had an order for a few bottles and my sweet friends who own a Cafe called and wanted a few items for their shelves.. smile.. 

I had made some Apple Blossom Jellies.. 

Queen Anne's Lace Jelly ...

It is kind of neat to have this kind of jelly for them as their cafe is called..

We hope to take a little drive down to Hillsborough tomorrow.. 

They live in a wonderful old farmhouse and the cafe is so lovely... 

I will try and get some pics for you.. 

We had Father's Day Dinner at the farm as we had visited with all of our kids on Saturday... 

Terry wanted steak and potatoes.. 

I think it is a guy thing, eh? grin.. 

The mushrooms were good but I am more of a vegetable lover.. 

There was a wonderful graduation party for Jared on Saturday.. 

His parents put on a delicious spread and almost all of our family were there..  

So much fun...

We have been home this week as it is raining a lot and Terry wanted to finish a few things before we go to the cottage again.. 

Probably by the weekend.. 

He is working on the garden and I am catching up with laundry and such.. 

Plus, he keeps going and trying to get that bear... smile.. 

Our garden still is not all in as it has been so wet but I am sure it will get done... 

How are your gardens doing?  

I guess it all depends on where you live.. 

We are a bit behind a lot of you, I am thinking... 

Still wearing sweaters a lot as the heat has not been turned up in our weather yet... 

I am not complaining as I do not care for too much heat but once I get to the cottage then I can take a bit more.. 

Anyway, dear friends, thanks so much for your visit.. 

I am sorry that I have not got around to all of your blogs but that is just the way it is for now... 

We will have internet at the cottage and I hope to do better then..

Midsummer ...

Hello everyone.. 

Hope you all had a great weekend.. 

Just sharing some pics of the last few days.. 

So hard to believe that August is here and Summer is half over.. 

It seems such a short season here in Maritime Canada.. 

I love this one and always try to hold onto it by the shirt tail.. grin.. 

I have made a few more batches of jams.. 

Raspberry and more strawberry ones.. 

Also some banana breads and a recipe I concocted for Mango Coconut muffins... 

I will try and give you the recipe next time as tonight it is late and I just wanted to check in with you all.. 

So blessed to go home this past weekend... 

I had not been home for six weeks although Terry gets there quite often.. 

It felt so good to be there and sleep in our water bed...smile. 

And attend our own church.. 

Our grandsons were quite surprised when we walked in .. 

We are enjoying going to church with our daughter's family, of course but there is no place like home, eh?

Terry picked me a bunch of Queen Anne's Lace in Moncton when we went in after church for dinner.. 

Another batch of jelly coming up tomorrow, hopefully.. 

We arrived back here in St. Martins about noon and I opened the shop.. About an hour later we had a huge rain storm.. 

My... did it ever rain and then the sun came out.. 

The weather is so different this year, eh? 

Well, dear hearts this is all for tonight.. 

So glad to meet those of you who have stopped by the shop.. 

Just think ... 

In about five or six weeks we will be going home.. 

I always start looking forward to that about this time of year;

when the Poor Man's Orchid comes in bloom..

They are the ones around the bird feeder.. 

You can only find them here in St. Martins area but I took some home a few years ago and they just pop up everywhere.. smile.

Days of Blessings....

Hello everyone... 

How are you all?

So glad you dropped by to visit this lovely evening.. 

I know I have been among the missing for a few days but we 

had a short visit home... 

It was lovely although very hot on Monday.. 

On days like that is when you want to be back here by the Bay but there were things that we needed to do.. 

Terry, of course had lawns and more lawns to do.. 

The dear thing.. 

And I had a ton (almost) of laundry.. 

We do not have laundry facilities here at the cottage or even in the village... The camp grounds have them but that is for them..

It seems to grow.. grin.. 

Anyway, we had 3 nights in our water bed... 

The first night was a bit warm but the next two nights the wind blew and the rain fell.. 

Lovely.... 

We spent one day in the city doing all kinds of errands and I was so pleased to buy some garlic scapes... 

More about them later.. smile.. 

Then this morning as we were packing up to return the sun came out and it was a beautiful day...

We had to stop in Sussex and do some grocery shopping.. 

The Keepers are coming for an over niter on Friday... 

We are all looking forward to that.. smile.. 

As soon as we drove in the lane I practically jumped out and ran to the shop.. I was an hour late... Yikes... 

Had some wonderful visitors from across Canada, actually...

Then it was Supper time... 

Terry and I had to take a load of stuff to the shop and so we went for a wee drive..

This is my aunt's house at the top of our street.. 

The Country Inn must be hosting a bunch of photographers as they are everywhere... smile.. 

One of them was taking this photo so I thought I would give it a try.. 

I hope he doesn't see it... grin..

Our grandson was baptized in the lovely Name of Jesus on Sunday and the whole family were there.. 

The two grandfathers are watching the turkey fry... I think ... 

We all had a wonderful time and wonderful fellowship... 

So nice to see our sweet daughter-in-law's parents and family... 

All of our 5 grandsons have now been baptized in the Name of the Lord.. 

So thankful for what Jesus is doing in the lives of our children and their dear ones.. 

God is so faithful...
