The Keepers of the Home visit a by gone era...

Hello there everyone.. 

Stopping by this evening to share some photos of the Keepers of the Home's visit to Kings Landing Historical Settlement here in New Brunswick last weekend.. 

It was a beautiful Fall day and the temperature was perfect for visiting the village.. 

We arrived at the settlement around ten o'clock last Saturday morning and walked into a 1800's style Thanksgiving preparation..

Each house was busy cooking and preparing tables for the next day.. 

Homemade pies and pickles and even whipped cream were all on display... 

Fireplaces were blazing as veggies were being peeled, chopped and cooked in cast iron pots.. 

Herbs such as mint were being made ready for teas and they were drying on racks in every house.. 

Soups, custards and puddings were being baked in  wood stoves .. 

It sort of made us hungry.. grin.. 

Homemade scarecrows were all made ready for a contest the following day and we were able to vote for our favorite.. 

I loved all the bouquets of flowers that the ladies of the each house had on their tables as well as all of the lovely old dishes.. 

One dear soul gave us a little tutorial on napkin folding and we were able to video it.. 

My special joy. though are the pantries.. 

I love them all but the first picture is the one I always remember..

Perhaps it is the green which I favor so much.. 

There were pumpkins, squash and hanging corn and onions in most old porches and barns.. 

The little girls were so pleased to be able to paint, dress up in old costumes and even deliver a teacher's pay.. smile.. 

Then we all went to the Kings Head Inn for a lovely Turkey Dinner.. 

It was delicious and served in such an old fashioned manner.. 

We even had a taxi back to the parking lot.. grin.. 

Believe me after doing all that walking I appreciated this the most of all.. smile.. 

All in all it was a lovely day with some precious ladies .. 

I feel so blessed to be part of such a dear group of sisters in the Lord..

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.. 

Just posting some pics tonight of our family day Thanksgiving.. 

As I posted last we all met at Shonda's.. 

Our first celebration in her new home.. 

Everyone was there and the food and fellowship were sweet.. 

Thank you, dear Lord.. 

I mentioned I would show you a few pics of Shonda's house so I have included a few ... 

She still has a few window treatments to do and such but it feels like home.. 

The seven grandsons all enjoy themselves so much when they get together.. 

Some were upstairs and some were down.. 

Where there is love there is joy, eh? 

The food was awesome.. 

Crab Dip and Crackers, Veggies and Dips and such..

Then...

Two homemade soups, turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, carrots, broccoli salad, rolls and more.. smile... 

Pies, Cheesecake, Date Squares and Ice Cream.. 

We sat around on the deck and laughed and drank coffee and then it was time to go home.. 

Lots of hugging going on.. 

So thankful for the sweet family that God has given us and for this day of precious memories..

THANKFUL HEARTS...

Good Afternoon, my dears.. 

Just dropping by this Sunday afternoon to wish you a wonderful weekend.. 

Here in Canada we are celebrating our Thanksgiving .. 

We spent one day at the farm and then yesterday the Keepers of the Home visited Kings Landing.. 

I will try to share the photos of that later on in the week.. 

It was such a lovely day..

This morning we went to church and again tonight but tomorrow our whole family will be joining together at our daughter's home..

Looking so forward to it.. 

They are all settled in their new house so I will try and share some pics of our day with you all later.. 

Friday while at the farm Terry worked in the field getting rid of thorn bushes and such.. 

I made some bread and a meal and then we had some visitors.. smile.. 

Over a cup of tea we shared a few recipes and chatted while the men were outside..

 Then it was time to come home and get ready for our day out.. 

It was a beautiful sunny day and Kings Landing was celebrating Thanksgiving also..

We are blessed and thankful for all of God's blessings.. 

He is a such a faithful God.
