Hello there everyone..
So nice to be able to make a little post here tonight..
It has been a while...
As you know we are doing the farm thing this summer and it is passing very quickly..
Already, the mornings are cool and when we go for our drives we noticed leaves exchanging their green for some brighter shades..
It makes me feel a bit sad as I love the Summer and do not look forward to the Winter months as much..
Everyone is saying we are in for quite the Winter ...
Lots of blackberries and high wasps nests seem to be the main reason for the forecast but only time will tell..
Meanwhile, we are enjoying our days...
They are busy ... just like yours... smile..
Looking out the pantry window this morning before we left for church...
I have enjoyed my swing in the old apple tree..
Especially on really windy days..
You know me and my love for the wind and rain..
Here is my bunting that I had posted about last time..
My sister wanted to see a pic of it..
Just a little something to watch blowing in the wind while I swing away.. grin..
Sometimes, I have some lovely company while I am out on the swing...
Some are awake and....
Some may not be... grin..
We love it when some of the family come by...
We put them to work out in the blueberry patch...
Lots of blueberry jam and jellies...
Finishing up the lids for some for the Apple Blossom Cafe in Hillsborough...
Our chickens grew and grew...
Until they were ready for the freezers...
Terry and Trev were giving some lessons to the younger generation on how to put up your chickens.. grin..
They decided they would rather donate fish for the table..
Love this time of year when the harvest is ready and enjoy putting it up for the Winter...
Oven dried tomatoes...
I love how they turned out and will be so nice in soups, sauces and such...
Pickles... Bread and Butter and Ginger slices...
My friend came up one day and brought her steamer juicer and helped me do up lots of blueberries and blackberries already to make jelly..
So appreciated her help and had a fun day...
One of my three herb beds..
I have never had so many herbs to do up..
Pesto, dried parsley in the microwave, rosemary salts, vinegars,
soap balls, candles and more...
Also..
Note the large plant to the right..
That is a castor bean plant and I didn't even plant it..
I don't know where it came from but I love it and will save seeds for next year...
Drying herbs all over the house..
I did up some mixed bunches just to see how they will turn out...
And then of course we go to visit the dear Bay of Fundy..
All these pics are from Riverside-Albert in Albert County, of course...
We were late getting in this little garden but it is coming right along..
Hope the frost delays until it gives us some green beans and tomatoes..
My first year at growing leeks..
Hope they get a bigger...
A sweet friend, Becca gave me the quail eggs and such..
I put the colored ones in my egg basket as they are so pretty...
Well, dear hearts this is all for tonight..
God has been good to us and we are having a good time..
Thank you so much for all of your sweet emails and such..
We are slowly going to be moving back home here and I look forward to that, too..
Lots of projects to do and plan on..
We lost a dear friend this past week and it so reminds us that life is short and temporal. .
As much as we love our lives with our homes and families we really are just passing through..
Whatever we do influences our tomorrows and what they may bring and it will be the bigger picture..
Eternity...
Keeping my hand in His...
God bless you sweet friends and thanks for stopping by and leaving your sweet notes...
Faye..
PS... I almost forgot to mention that we have Keepers of the Home meeting this Saturday and it will be so good..
All about putting up the harvest..
Pickling, canning, herbs and much more..
We are being hosted by my friend in her log house..
If you would like to come just call me or leave me a message and I will try to get back to you...
xo

ReplyDeleteHello Faye, Wow! You have been doing so many wonderful things that I am interested in, too. Except ...I do not like to pluck chickens!!!!! JK. Glad you have had a great summer.

Wonderful post and wow you have been busy. Love all the things you have put up that will be enjoyed this winter. Enjoy your time as I agree life is short!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful harvest you have had, and so many herbs!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a full summer at the farm
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear from you! This is a wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteDearest Faye.... I'm sorry for the passing of your friend. Our Lord knows that we tend to focus on the temporal but when we shift our focus ... So much clarity emerges. Your harvest is so abundant ... Thank you sharing dear lady :-)
ReplyDeleteDear Faye
ReplyDeletelovely to hear from you - wondered where you had been. Wish could take you up on the meeting of the keepers of the home but with me being here in the UK it is very unlikely. Will be with you in spirit though. Sorry for the loss of your dear friend

WOW ! You have been busy . What lovely jams and pickled foods you have done there . Lovely photos . It has been cool in the mornings and evenings but warm during the day here with lots of sunshine and cool breezes . I cant believe how fast the summer went and that the kids in the area are back to school here as of tomorrow as the bus passes by us in the mornings and late afternoons . I to have noticed a change in leaves and that some are already falling to the ground and some of our summer birdies have left whilst fall birdies have return . Thanks for sharing . Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteYou've been very busy! It is good to hear from you, Faye. Everything looks beautiful. :-)
ReplyDeleteAs always you are so ambitious! All the canned and dried foods look delicious. We raised chickens in the day and put them in the freezer. Unless you raise them yourself no one can appreciate the excellent taste and quality compared to store bought. God bless you and your lovely family.
ReplyDeleteLovely post! I hope you enjoy the tail end of summer :)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post and photos of our fleeting summer. Where did it go eh? I love your bunting hanging between the trees and your swing. I had our daughters swing like that hanging from the maple tree all summer but never once got in it so we took it down. I don't find it easy to get in and out of it! lol You've been busy making and doing all summer and everything looks wonderful. Have a blessed September Faye!
ReplyDeleteHello Faye,
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed this so much, thank you for sharing your farm, your faith and family.
Love, Carla
Hello Faye. You'll have to go back home to have a rest. What a lovely sight the Bay of Fundy is. I love the countryside around the farms too. And those blueberries! I'm envious.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the last of your summer days.
xx
It must smell wonderful in your home with all that canning going on and the herbs drying all around as well. Great smells for the end of summer. Looks like the men did a good job picking blueberries! Are you saving any for pie? It is SO hot here today! Feels stormy (fingers crossed!). Do you only stay at your farm in the summer months? I would hate to leave that swing ... what a nice view :)

Keeping my hand in His..... Yes. Here too. Thank you for the lovely post.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely post! I didn't realize until I read "Bay of Fundy" that you're a neighbour :) I'm from PEI. You've had a very productive summer with all your preserve, herbs and chickens etc. I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your loved one. That's so sad - but comforting to know the Lord is in control. Hope you have a blessed weekend!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your enjoying a great summer, and keeping very busy too.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about the lost of your friend, the older I get the more I feel blessed for the time God has given to me on this earth to be with family
Such a wonderful post. The preserving for Winter is one of my favourite activities, yours all look delicious. I have just started harvesting herbs to dry, I also use an ice cube tray to freeze some ready for stews and soups. Condolences for your loss.
ReplyDeleteHello dear Faye! It has been a while, I know what you mean about busy! Summer has just flown by for me, so much to do, and not enough time to get it all done! I enjoyed seeing your pictures as you certainly have plenty going on as well, putting up chickens, canning, and harvesting herbs. Sounds like you and your friend had a great day getting things done together! We are getting fallish weather here now, and my garden is done, we got a frost on Sep. 9th and a freeze on the 11th! Just my cool veggies are still in the ground, and doing well. Do you can carrots? I never have. I'm thinking about it this year. Hugs to you dear Faye, praying the Lord's blessings for you :)
ReplyDeleteLooove your photos! That swing looks relaxing ♥
