Looking forwards...

Good Evening my dears.. 

Just a very quick posting tonight.. 

We had our first day of our closing for the season sale and had a good turnout even though it was a rainy day..

Just two more days of the sale and perhaps a day at the Fundy Trail if it does not rain on Sunday and I will be done working for this year.. grin.. 

Well.. 

Shop kind of working anyway.. 

We had some lovely folks in to say good bye to us as they know that on Monday we will be heading homewards.. 

Leaving this old summer cottage and being back home... 

Terry is getting anxious to get home and get to putting wood in for the Winter and doing a bit more gardening.. 

I am looking forward to getting our house back in some kind of order and attending our church..

Then of course, there is our old farm to visit.. 

I am hoping most anxiously that we can plant a few rows of 

garlic up there.. 

And.. 

I would love to have a barn sale day... 

Terry says that is too much work for me but we shall see.. 

We all need goals, eh?  grin.. 

Keepers of the Home hopefully will be heading to Kings Landing for a day in a couple of weeks so that will be great, too..

I am making bread each evening as we are serving that to our customers with samples of pickles and jellies.. 

The timer is on and then I need to go to bed.. 

As I told Terry... 

Talking all day is hard work.. grin..

Did I mention that before? 

Probably.. 

I find I am repeating myself a lot and sometimes think I am losing my marbles but a customer told me today that if you think you are losing it then you are aren't .. 

The ones that are losing them don't believe it... grin.. 

Are you all looking forward to Fall? .. 

We have not had a hot summer really so perhaps we will have a warm Fall although they are calling for frost tonight.. 

Yikes.. We have tomatoes and such at home in our garden.. 

It does not seem possible to have frost already, eh?  

Well.. must go...

Back to the Ordinary....

Happy Weekend my dears... 

And for us New Brunswickers a Happy Long Weekend.. 

Monday is New Brunswick Day... 

We are celebrating the best province in Canada although, 

I guess I may be a wee bit prejudiced... smile.. 

Anyway... 

Our sweet grandsons have left and gone back to their homes.. 

We certainly enjoyed having them.. 

As for us we are back to doing the ordinary things.. 

Terry is still up on the roof.. 

Literally... Here it is almost 8:30 pm and he is still pounding nails.. 

It will be great when he has his two projects done.. 

One is the roof and the other is our back wee deck.. 

It is only large enough for an umbrella table and chairs and then a couple of extra chairs and some planters.. 

It needed fixed and painted.. 

The poor guy.. 

The second deck and the second roof he has had to do since Spring.. 

He says it is good for what ales ya.. 

Have you ever heard that saying?  grin... 

As you probably noticed I have not been posting a lot.. 

I think you dear girls need a break from my boring chatter and perhaps read something a bit more inspiring.. 

But here I am tonight anyhow... 

This is such a lovely time of year as far as herbs go.. 

Here are some dill, rosemary and basil...

I managed to put all three into supper... smile..

Plus... I made this Garlic and Rosemary Jelly... 

It is delicious...

I poached some fish for supper...

I always cut up my herbs with a pair of scissors.. 

Do you? 

 I find it does it easier then chopping them on my chopping board.. Most of the time anyway... 

I gathered some plantain here..

I will be putting it in oil to make some ointments.. 

I made some and have it at the shop... 

It is for very dry skin and turned out rather well.. 

Tomorrow is kind of an exciting day for me..

Lindsay (one of the Keepers) and I are going to Kings Landing Historical Village to take a class on Herbs and Medicines... 

We are both looking forward to it so I hope to have a bunch of pics for you.. 

Kings Landing is my favorite place to go to.. 

I tell everyone I need to go there at least once a year for my fix.. grin... 

So totally inspiring to me... 

The sun seems to be setting much earlier on the Bay of Fundy these days..

I told Terry at supper that we will soon be going home.. 

Another 5 or 6 weeks ...

Monday Musings...

Good Evening to you all..

I would like you to meet Mable..

She is my Mom's.. Not ours..

I am a cat lover but we do not have one at the moment because of Sammi.. (our inherited dog who belongs to our son).. Anyway, he does not like cats so I just enjoy Mable..

One day I went in and she was curled up in Mom's huge crystal bowl on the dining room table.. Of course, I did not have my camera..

Anyway, how was your weekend?

We kind of laid low as this cold is still hanging on.. We did get to church, though which was a blessing and I tried not to pass it along..After church we had some sweet fellowship with some great friends..

Today we had to go to Moncton and my hubby bought me a lovely OLD wing back chair for my Sun room.. It has the highest back and is an Autumn rust color.. I love it and the best part is that it was only $25.00..Isn't God good?.. That is the amount I wanted to pay and I was telling my friend Lynn that I wanted a BIG and OLD wing back and she told me about this one at a thrift store.. I didn't realize what a great store it is..Thank you, Lynn.. smile..I will show you all when I get it situated..

Oh, and they had old and new cookbooks for $1.00 or less.. I picked up an old Country one and a new Homemade Kitchen Gifts one.. Just in time for getting my gift pantry stocked again.. smile..

Then after supper I made another batch of sauerkraut... We love it and the last batch I made a few weeks ago turned out great..

Homemade Cough Syrup from the by gone days....

Hello everyone..

Another rainy but warm evening here..It has been a busy week so I am kind of slow in the posting department..

I thought I would tell you about a recipe that I picked up at Kings Landing last week..

It is for Homemade Cough Syrup..

The lady of the house was making it while we were visiting..

It is very easy to do and I couldn't wait to pick some white pine needles and give it a try..

Of course, I don't need any right now, thank the Lord  but when I do it will be ready.. smile..

You just take some white pine needles and pound them with a wooden tool on a bread board ...

Then place them in a covered jar with honey..

I believe she said 1/3 needles to 2/3 honey...

Now, that was her recipe but I think I would place some of it in a cup of boiling water with some lemon juice and sip away..

What do you think? 

If a person didn't want to use the pharmacy stuff this would make a wonderful substitute, I think...
