Hello my dears!
Here we are with another month almost over!
The weeks have passed so quickly...
Perhaps because Spring was near.
The world is still in chaos but God is still God!
And that's enough for me!
We have been singing that at church lately and it rings so true in my heart...
March is also our anniversary month!
We celebrated our 52nd wedding anniversary yesterday.
Our oldest grandson and his wife were to come for supper on Friday night but our hydro was out most of the day and they were calling for freezing rain so we invited them to come on Saturday instead.
They didn't know it was our special day but we were so happy to celebrate with them.
In the morning I made a big batch of bread..
Jared loves bread! 😊
I nearly always serve pasta to the boys as they are as crazy over it as their grandma! 😊
But then decided to go Chinese instead.
I set the table and used my new to me antique
Flow Blue plates.
During the first year of the pandemic we went for a little road trip. We stopped at an old garage type place with a few antiques and I saw them at the bottom of an old cabinet..
Terry bought the set for me for an anniversary present!
There were other pieces as well.
Even a soup taurine...
Anyway ....
We had Beef and Broccoli, egg rolls, hot pepper honey chicken, rice, and Chinese salad..
Oh and I made a jar of fresh dill refrigerator pickles..
Even served them in the jar! 😏
So good!!!
I forgot to take a pic of the dessert.
Cherry Cheese Squares.
A family favourite..
Here is the recipe for the pickles if you want to give them a try.
Quick Pickles
1 large English cucumber sliced
1/2 cup of filtered water
1/2 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon or a bit less kosher salt
1 tsp black peppercorns
2 cloves of garlic smashed
3 sprigs of fresh dill or 1 tablespoon dried.
I used 3 dried dill heads from my garden last year that I dried in large paper grocery sacks..
The best dill I ever saved
I processed a lot too but saved a bunch of heads ..
Place your dill peppercorns and garlic in the bottom of a wide mouth jar and add cucumbers..
Stir water, vinegar and salt in a container till salt is dissolved then pour over ..
I doubled the brine so it would cover the pickles.
Keep in the fridge..
FRESH EGGS.
Loved the colours..
I had a bag of pillowcases from my Mom.
She was always finding them at yard sales and such...
In this bag the pillowcases were ancient but the edgings were too dear to throw out.
I have cut them off.
Just not sure what I will do with them .
Any suggestions? 😊
This is a little felted chicken card I made for a dear aunt of mine. She loves chickens.
It is felted and the card is layered with old papers and such. It was fun to make .
Such a lovely feeling of satisfaction of getting a job done!
A bit of baking ...
This is a loaf that I made yesterday.
Don't you love the shape?
Perfectly square and just the right size to give a single person along with a jar of homemade jam or jelly .
I found the wee pan at the thrift store .
There were three different sizes.
The bottoms come out.
My Mom used to have ones like them for making fruit cakes.
I was going to buy one on Amazon but it was almost thirty dollars.
Three dollars was much better.
I hope to find a couple more! 😊
Shonda gave me an antique wire basket she didn't want anymore .
It is green and I love it on the hearth.
Really enjoy my plants during the winter.
This is what we woke up to this morning!!!
Can you imagine!
Well, we really will likely have more yet...
This is a sweet poem
So true.
This blessed our hearts...
Our youngest grandson, Joel sharing the Word of God one Sunday morning!
So thankful for the touch of God on their hearts and lives!
Well, I guess this is it for this time.
Thank you so much for visiting and I always look forward to hearing from you.
Welcome to the new ones following the blog here and on
Instagram.
May God bless you all and may you feel his presence ever near ....
Until next time my sweet friends.
Hugs
