A photo project...

Good Evening dear hearts..
How are you all doing?
Hope you had a good weekend...

Here in Eastern Canada the weather is typical of our Springs..
Some rain and cool days and then a really warm one or two..
Never quite sure what is coming our way but so long as it is not a snow storm then I am loving the season..

My favourite month is May mainly because it is all coming new and I love it...
June would be my favourite but there is an insect that arrives here in June and it ruins the month for me.. LOL...
The Junebug..
I have noticed that they are arriving at the end of May for the last few years.. Oh well.. The first good lightning storm they are supposed to disappear but I am not sure they do..
How did I get on that? grin..

The post tonight is just some photos that I have taken and kind of like...

I am trying to clean up my computer pics and it seems that Sunday afternoon is a good time to do that simple chore..
When a person blogs there are just so many pics...

So here they are..
I will explain them as we go..
If you have been following the blog for awhile you will probably recognize some ...

The one above is the old church up at the farm...
I took the picture one evening after we left the farm and was heading home.. So old fashioned looking, I think...

Matthew 5:16
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven..

This is a table setting at the farm, too...
Terry had given me these sweet place mats for Christmas one year and the old dishes were a gift from a lovely elder sister at our church many years ago..
I still love and use them..

Psalm 23:5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows..

You probably have read here that I am a lace and linen collector...
This is some of my stash and my first pair of shoes that my Mom kept ... The photo is of my Dad and I ..
It is just a little vignette that I did for fun..

Exodus 39:31
And they tied unto it a lace of blue, to fasten it on high upon
the mitre; as the Lord commanded Moses..

Looking at the farm through the Lupins..
They are so pretty and will be in bloom here very soon..
Do you have Lupins where you live?

1 Peter 1:24
For,"All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall."

A lovely couple of home made bears that a friend of mine made..
When I did the craft shows we would trade our crafts and these were very special as they are made out of old fur coats..
They are sitting on a chair my Mom gave me for one of my big birthdays.. grin. It belonged to my great aunt Emily and is in our living room here at home..

Isaiah 32:18
Then my people will live in a peaceful habitation, And in secure dwellings and in undisturbed resting places..

The back of our old cottage in St. Martins down by the Bay of Fundy..
Daffodil time...

Song of solomon 2:11-12
For behold, the winter is past; the rain is over and gone.. The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land..
A wee tea set from Occupied Japan that I found at my sweet antique dealer Julia's house..
How I miss my dear friend..

John 15:12
My command is this; Love each other as I have loved you..

Cows in the pasture and dandelions growing in the field behind..
This is what it looks like here in New Brunswick right now..

Psalms 50:10
For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills..
The pictures are from the farm, cottage and this one is here at home..
Our dining and living room here..
This was taken in the Fall I think before I made a few improvements over the Winter.
I need to take a new photo... smile..

John 21:12
Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine..

These Jump-ups are growing at the farm now..
My aunt planted them and they have spread but I think they are so pretty, eh?

Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever..
Another pic of the living room..
Lots of old stuff in there.. smile..

Isaiah 43:18
Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old..
These are the Forget Me Nots at the cottage..
As you can see I am a flower lover ..
Even when I was a little girl it was something I loved to do and was always picking them.
I even remember where I would find the first Mayflowers in Turtle Creek when we lived there so long ago..
I was only about 8 I think..
This is a trait I inherited from our Mother.. She loves them, too..
And my sister does, also..

Matthew 6:30
And if God cares so wonderfully for wild flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.. Why do you have so little faith?

This is our special Spring delight here in the Maritimes..
Fiddleheads along with some venison..
They are a delicious fern that grow by the rivers and streams and you serve them with butter and vinegar.. mmmm..
We had some for lunch today...

Genesis 9:3
Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you .. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything..
Our flower bed has gone wild with this precious flower..
My Grandmother's favourite..
Lily of the Valley...
They always remind me of our Lord..

He is the rose of Sharon and the lily of the valley..
Song of Solomon 2

This is a bedroom at the old cottage...
I love high soft beds and have made them this way by adding an extra box spring to each bed and a big soft comforter under the sheets... smile..

Psalms 4:8
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety..

Thank you for visiting dear friends and may God bless your week..
Hugs..

Farm Diary # 3

Hello dear ladies..
Another little farm diary post for you..
Terry and I went out to the farm yesterday and as we neared the lane we noticed we had a couple of visitors..

I think they just dropped in for a quick lunch... grin..
This is the first time we have noticed any of these beautiful Canadian Geese around the farm..

We were a bit late arriving and there was so much to do..

I noticed the Trilliums that I picked on our drive on Saturday are still alive and well.. smile..
Thank you for all the sweet comments on my last post about the drive..
Love having you girls comment on the Face Book page, too..

One of the first things I did was to water my plants..

Each time we go I try to take a couple..

Usually when we go to the cottage for the summer I just put most of them on the back step where it is shady and just let the rain look after them..
This year since we will be at the farm I think I just want to have some around, I guess..
I still need to take my Pregnant Onion, Prayer Plant and Star of Bethlehem as they are my faves ..
I will wait though until we get back from Newfoundland to take them..

Terry mowed the lawn for the first time this season..
Lots of dandelions, eh?

I have been wanting to change the curtains in the kitchen for some time and finally accomplished that little task..

Hard to see but they are just the lace ones that I bought when we did the PEI yard sale last summer..

They were only two dollars..

I have so many things I want to do to this kitchen but it will have to wait until we get more important things finished first..

Like herb beds, garden, pens for the birds, the front stoop fixed and such..
All in good time, I am sure..

Terry ordered this up for lunch from the Farm House Kitchen..

He bought the broccoli especially you know..
Lemon Broccoli Pasta...
I have posted this several times as it is one that he actually requests and our grandsons love it..
Normally, he just wants whatever I cook..
So he says, anyway..

Find recipe HERE..

Looking out the windows you can see how much greener and lovely it is getting here in the Maritimes...

A ways to go yet, of course..
The maples have not come out in full leaves yet or the oak and so on..

This is a little chair seat cover I bought at the Thrift for the rocking chair..

Someone had hooked it and never used it..
I think it may have been meant to hang but I find it comfy to sit on..

Before and after lunch I worked at cleaning out and sorting lots of stuff that was stored in the little front entry way.. It is like a little wee porch... It has two windows and two doors..
I have requested from our sons that they put me in a wood screen door for the Summer..
I still didn't get the curtain rods but the vintage valances will be going there.. Soon..

Anyway....
When that was finished I made up a pan of squares as I was looking for my Mom and Step Father to come for a visit..

Another rhubarb recipe..
Rhubarb Dream Bars..

I found it here on the web and just wrote it down ...
Sort of .. grin..
INGREDIENTS
Crust
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter
Filling
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ¼ tsp. salt
  • 2 cups diced rhubarb
INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Line the bottom of an 8x8" pan with parchment bringing it up the sides so that it will be easy to remove the squares after. Whirl the crust ingredients in a food processor and then press into the prepared pan. Bake for 15 min., crust will still remain very pale in color.
  2. While crust is baking mix together eggs, sugar, flour and salt and whisk well. Stir in rhubarb. Pour onto the hot crust and continue to bake for 40-45min.
  3. Let the bars cool and remove with the parchment paper. Cut into squares.

Let's just say that I am not making them again...

They were just too stinking good...
Terry ate almost half a pan at once....
We just don't need that kind of heaven.. grin..

After Supper we headed home ...

The sun is going down and once again I am tired...
This poor old gal just ain't what she used to be..

Today we had a town day and tomorrow, Lord willing, we are headed to St. Martins to get the cottage hooked up and the yard cleaned and mowed..
All in a day's work but it is the kind we enjoy..
Can't wait to see the Bay of Fundy and find out if it missed me..

Thank you so much for your loyalty dear friends in coming here and reading my rants and raves..

Blogger is giving me stitches by not putting my post in the RSSfeed..
It doesn't show up in Reader for almost a day...
Then tonight I could not load up my photos for awhile..

Anyway...
Whatever..
You will see it when you see it, I guess..
God bless you sweet girls..
xo

A wonderful and wild weekend... The retired kind..

Good Monday Evening everyone..
This is the last day of our long Victoria Day weekend here in Canada...

We had great weather with very warm temps and so summer like..
Friday night started off with a great time celebrating a birthday for a dear friend... So much fun and laughs..
Making memories..
Then Saturday morning we were up bright and early heading to the estate/yard sale in Elgin..

We were a bit early but cars were parking everywhere..
Terry is already having a good time.. smile..

There were tables outside and inside the garage full of stuff and it took me at least ten minutes to figure out that the house was open and full of stuff, too..
By that time people were carrying around things that I might have bought.. grin..

I did find some goodies, though..
I told Terry we did not need anything and it would have to be special..

I have been wanting a small kitchen stool for the farm and I did get one that is almost new...
I shall paint it, I expect...
After we paid for the stuff we headed towards the farm which is in that area.. More towards the east, though..

There were also a lot of stuff at the bottom of people's lanes for the spring garbage pick up..

We found the old warming oven at one place..
I persuaded Terry to stop and pick it up..
He agreed to hang it on the wall in the pantry over top of the old sink ..
I think it will be kind of neat...
I need to clean it up or paint the bottom, though..
We took another road then the ones we usually travel..
We were not sure where it was taking us but we knew it was in the right direction because we could see the windmills in the distance..

Can you see them?

Old empty farm houses where people used to live and raise their families..

Such a beautiful drive...
Or so I thought ...

Then things took a turn for the worst, shall we say..

I don't know what there is about an old washed out road that is not fit for anything except all terrain vehicles that calls Terry's name but there usually is one somewhere..

We start out having a great time and enjoying each other's company and then an old road comes between us and I end up wanting to slap him right side of the head..

The road above is a picture I took out of the wind shield as we backed up the way we had gone at breakneck speed....
Honest..
When we turned onto that road I tried so hard not to say anything and just let him drive over ruts and deep water filled holes and rock beds and just hang on with both hands all the time calling on the name of the Lord to give the man a speck of sense..

He just kept going..
Branches scratching the sides of the truck and a rock hitting the door and then we came to the top of a deep long rock filled hill with hardly room for a bicycle and he proceeds to go over the top...

"Oh dear Lord ...
Have you lost your marbles?
Do you think we can get down there? "

"No... I am looking for a place to turn around," he says...

Can you just imagine being this high up and looking down and there is not even a road..
It was not even a decent cow path...

Well..
Let's just say that after my little tirade the truck suddenly goes into reverse and I am hanging on and trying not to scream...
He was spinning the tires trying to get back up and I was bumping my head on the ceiling and trying not to cry out for mercy...
I just wanted out....

By the time I could sit still long enough without having my neck broken to even tell him that we were more or less on even ground...
Oh Lord... thank you...

Shall we say that we silently drove the rest of the way to the farm..

I needed a cup of tea to calm my nerves before I could do anything else..
I am telling you that this man is ageing me...

Yet...
The next time he says, " Let's go for a drive!"  I will just yell...
"Wait till I get my sweater!"
Tell me dear girls...
What is wrong with this picture?...
I must be slow minded or something because he will probably find another one of those roads....
Oh well.. 46 years later and I still haven't learned..
What can I say?  grin..

Sorry about that rant.. I do feel better.. LOL...

Here is the stuff I got..

Two home made quilts for only five dollars each and I only bought two and there were more there..
So proud of myself..

A dear little Carnival Glass chicken ...

Transfer Ware bowls in red which I love...
An owl wind chime, wild bird coasters, boxes of cards and such..
Terry picked up a few things but we did not spend very much..

Then on Sunday we had a wonderful day..
Morning Worship service, a few hours in the afternoon with our youngest son and then to the Youth Convention where our grandsons were..
So blessed to see them there worshipping our Lord..
And meeting up with dear old friends..
We sat with a sweet couple who have been friends for years and just enjoyed it all..

Today...
A lovely windy day for some laundry...

Love fresh bedding..
Can't wait to get to bed.. smile.

The Dandelion Jelly turned out fine..
Tastes just like honey..

I spotted more dandelions over by Terry's wood pile..
I really want to make a bit of soap...

Trevor (our oldest son) got his bear..
What a beauty..
I was so proud of him..
Can't wait to try a steak..

Anyway, dear hearts this is my piece for tonight..
Hope you have a great week..
I think we are heading farm wards tomorrow again...

In just two weeks from today we head to Newfoundland..
Will chat with you again soon..
Thanks so much for visiting and leaving your sweet notes..
God bless..

Just a toucht of charm...

Happy Saturday evening to you..
Just a few pics that I found and loved this week..
The first one is my own from the kitchen at the cottage but the rest are from the web..
Which one did you like best and did you notice any thing neat that kind of struck you?  smile..
Of course, I loved the waves but I think the one I like best is number 7... or 2.... or 8 ... lol..
Hope you are having a blessed weekend..

One last one..
Something to think about..
God bless you sweet friends.. xo
