A bit of everyday things..

Hello my dears..
How are you all doing?

We woke up to more snow this morning..
It is not that we mind it you know ..
Really..
It is just when you think it is all over then it starts all over again..
 Oh well..
All good things come to him that waits..
(Or so I heard)  smile..

What did you do today?
I made this no knead molasses porridge bread..

Someone left a comment and asked if I ever make brown bread..
This is as close as it gets..

I will post the recipe at the end of this post.. OK?`

Terry loves brown bread but I don't like it at all..
Even homemade although he says this is good..

I made another coffee cozy..
My grandsons laugh because I tell them I can only crochet in circles..

Canadians love their Tim Horton's and this is an extra large.. smile..

Thinking of planting something in this lovely toile tin I found at the thrift store..

Or.. perhaps I should save it for the shop.. smile..

Look at my sprouts..

The bottle is over a litre and it is full today..
Do any of you do sprouts?
A lovely homemade bread and sprout sandwich coming up..

This is a gift from my Mom and Step-Father...

An antique tea pot and a new iron..
Love them..

And this is something I make when we have stale bread..

Bread Pudding with Raisins..
Do you make this recipe?

Oh this is a Canadian view point..

LOL..
It is so funny because it is almost true.. grin..

And my thoughts are turning more and more to this place..

The wonderful Bay of Fundy and our old cottage and shop ...
I need to start making stuff..
Next week for sure..

I have the list but have not made the gigantic stride to accomplish anything yet..
Soon...

I think I need to go down and look around and get over my procrastination..
Start on a panic and get some results..
Sad but true..
That is when I work best..
And you thought you knew me.. grin..

OK, dear hearts here is the recipe..

No Knead Molasses Porridge Bread..
Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1 cup of oats..
Stir and add..
1/2 cup of wheat germ
1/2 cup of molasses
1/4 cup of shortening
3/4 T. of salt..
Stir well and cool to lukewarm
In another small bowl add 1/2 cup of lukewarm water and 1/2 tsp. of sugar .. Sprinkle over 1 T. instant yeast.
Let stand about 10 minutes then add to the oats mixture..
Stir in 3 3/4 cups of flour.
*all purpose flour or half can be whole wheat
Then add 3/4 cup of lukewarm water..
Stir well and cover..
Let rise until doubled ..
Spoon into a greased loaf pan (large one) and let rise until it comes to the top of the pan..
Bake in 375 Degrees F. oven for 35 minutes or until done..
Take out and cool on a rack..
Oh.. this recipe can be doubled and you get 3 medium loaves.

Well, I guess that is all for tonight..
Thank you so much for your kind anniversary wishes and for your prayers ..
I still miss Sammi ...
That is to be expected, I guess..

Thank you for visiting and I always always look forward to your sweet comments...
Enjoyed talking to an old friend today who is so faithful reading but does not comment.. She just calls and tells me..
Thanks, Dawn..

I appreciate all of you..
For reading and for commenting...

Love and Prayers..
Faye..

Just Look At Us...

Good Evening everyone..
Today Terry and I celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary...
The above picture is the only pic of the two of us before we were married..
It was taken the first time I visited his home and it was their family Christmas dinner..
I remember how nervous I was as I did not know any of Terry's family..

Terry and I met at school..
He was in grade 12 and I was in grade 11..
We had gone to the same high school together for a few years but  were not in the same circles..
But one night at the school carnival we connected.. smile...

And now here we are 43 years later... smile..

So blessed and so thankful...
God has been so faithful ...

Here are a couple links of postings from past anniversaries..
(for you new followers)

These above links kind of tell our story.. smile..

Terry and I love this romantic song..
Hope you like it too...

Thank you so much dear hearts for dropping by and for all of your lovely comments last posting .
You are all so awesome..

Take care now and God bless each of you..

A little country drive....

Hello dear hearts...
Just a little pictorial for you today..
A wee field trip Terry took me on ..
He was trying to help me feel better..
Does a little drive help you to take your mind off of a sadness or some stress sometimes??
It does help for a bit, eh?

Our Sammi is gone..
He was a good dog and we will miss him..
I know that he was an animal but one gets attached..

Such a dear old dog...

Anyway, sweet friends have a blessed Lord's Day..

Thank you thank you to you new followers and to you dear faithful readers who always visit and leave your lovely comments..
I appreciate it so much..

God bless...

These Spring Days..

Hello my dears..
Here we are into the second day of Spring here in Eastern Canada..
This is what the first day looked like here..

A snow storm moved in over night and we woke up to this..
Typical March weather..
But that is fine.. Warm temps today ...

We had some sweet company after church on Sunday..

Someone had a yen for looking at Mom's photos..
smile..

And someone else has lost a tooth..

They are getting to be such big boys...

They enjoyed the ribs and rice and salad..

Salads go over well in this family..smile..

Then one day this week Terry and I had our town day..
Look what I found..
Several crocks from the Thrift store again..
Please note... Laurie..
 One for you.. smile..

And two heart molds which I love..
This is what I did with one..

I love the new look in kitchens of hanging tools and pots and pans..
So like the UK mags.. smile..
I put up a tension rod above the stove and hung utensils on it..
Terry put a hole in the heart mold so I could hang it..
Then I have one to sell in the shop this summer..

Doing some planning these days for the shop and Keepers Meetings, of course..

We have another meeting in 2 weeks..
How are you girls doing with your homework? smile...

Have you done a back to basics chore for your home and family yet?

Here is mine...

I will share what is in it later..
And give you the recipe..

Here is another pic of a visitor we had over the weekend..

Dear old Charlie..
All decked out and ready to visit..

I am so glad you dropped by..
We have had quite a week..
My sweet Aunt Eva was put to rest today..
She had a lovely funeral and everyone was so kind..
I will miss her...
Life is full of saying good-bye, isn't it?
But some day we will all say good night here but good morning up there...

Thank you for your visit and I look forward to hearing from you all..
I see I only need one more person to join this site and we will have 400 followers... Neat, eh?  smile..

Oh and thanks so much for your sweet emails wondering if all is well..
I finally figured out my problem with the computer pic thing..
And Sammi is stable for now..
He is not well..
It has just been that kind of week..

I will try to get and comment on your lovely blogs now that the worst if over..

Take care sweet friends..

A Saturday Project..

Hello everyone..
Just posting a little piece of sewing I have been working on ..
As you know I love the UK magazines and this pic was in Homes and Antiques this past month..
There were several patchwork projects..
A tablecloth, pillow runner and a throw..

This is their tablecloth..
There is a circle for the plate and a pocket for the cutlery..

I decided to do my own version..
I like their's better.
After I got to making mine I realized that I should have used heavier fabrics like they did..

And I should have made bigger patches instead of the smaller ones..
As I worked I realized that this was going to be a just a first sample..
You know to work out the kinks so I did a few things that I won't do in the next one..
Like change my thread colors.. grin..

Oh well.. it is fine for Terry and I..
I did this one with four places but you could do 2 runners, eh?

It was fun and I think I would like to try the pillow..
It had a bird on the patchwork..

What did you girls do today?
I put out another big line of clothes and they dried fine even though it is a bit cooler today..
Tomorrow is the Lord's Day and I made a big roaster of ribs as I think we are having some sweet company after church..

I also made an apple pie that you make in a frying pan..
Terry and I both decided that the birds would like it better then we would.. Yuk...
No wonder the cookbook was only $5.00 at Chapters..
I will give it another try before I completely give up on it..

I also had a wonderful chat on the phone with a dear old friend..
We had not connected for ages but it was just like yesterday that we had chatted and laughed..
smile..

Well, take care my friends..
Hope you get to the house of the Lord tomorrow..
We are looking forward to it..

God bless...

Spring is on the way...

Hello my dears..

I am so glad you dropped by the Blessed Hearth..
Thank you all for the sweet comments and prayers on the last posting..
You are all so kind..

The last two days have been so warm and Spring like here in Eastern Canada..
There was a wonderful breeze and I was so pleased to actually dry two lines of sheets and curtains and such..
..
There is nothing like the smell of fresh sheets off of the line.. eh?

Just doing some daily chore like things ..
Making bread, cleaning my pantry and doing a bit of sewing..

There was a sweet letter in the mail from some little friends in Wisconsin..
I think this was part of their homework.. smile..
I hope you ladies visit the Mayo Family ..
You can find them HERE..

And I have included a pic of Sammi..
He is looking forward to Spring, too.. smile..

Well, dear ladies that is all for tonight..
Have yourselves a wonderful weekend..
Sorry I am so boring today..

Looking forward to reading your lovely notes..
Then I know you were here.. smile..

Oh, and let me know who you are if you comment annonomysly..
Please..

Peace..

Lifted up in Prayer...

Hello there everyone..
Just a little posting tonight..

Sharing some pics with you of a little drive we took to the farm today just to check on it..
(For you who are new followers this is an old farm we bought from my aunt after she and her husband moved to the special care home and put it up for sale.. )
We use it as a getaway.. sort of...

Anyway...
All is well there..
It is just sitting and waiting until Spring when once again we will go there and make dinner and have some friends over and just enjoy the old place..

On our way home we dropped by a honey farm and purchased a lovely bottle..

We also stopped in again and visited my aunts..
My precious Aunt Eva did not know me today..
The dear thing..

As I leaned over the bed and held unto her hand my heart was so full of sadness..
I do not want her to go..

Closing my eyes I whispered to God to please be with her..

I wanted to lift her up in prayer..
We say that sometimes and I was thinking of it..

I picture God looking down and there is a vast crowd but here and there  someone is lifted up above the crowd by others who are praying for them ..
They are perhaps to overwhelmed to lift themselves up..
Too tired but we can pray for them and help lift them up and God hears and answers..

Aunt Eva is 89 and has lived a long time ...
She went to our old farm as a young bride and
moved into the farmhouse with her in-laws..
I remember them..
Her name was Carrie and his was Coonie..

We would go there on a weekend and sometimes in the summer cars would line the lane..
There would be a huge meal getting ready and there was a lot of talking and laughing going on...
Lots of family..
We kids would always run to the spring and look for the trout..

Now fifty years later I still do the same thing..
Except that I don't run.. smile..

Aunt Eva worked very hard..
Her house was always spotless and her cooking was wonderful..
The old farmhouse burned and Aunt Eva and her husband built the house you see above in 1949..

But time moves on and we all get older..
Life winds down and all the joys of yesterday are gone..
We get old and fragile and then life comes to an end..
On this old earth, anyway but there is hope..

When we love the Lord and walk in his way our death is not the end but it is the beginning of eternity with Him..
The one who died for us..
The one who made a way of escape from this world of sin..
The one who paid the dept we could not pay..
The one we can pray to and he hears and understands..
He is there to lean on in times of sorrow and distress..
He gives joy...
Wonderful sweet joy..
Thank you, Jesus...

Well, sweet ladies, thanks for visiting and listening to me once again..

I look forward to hearing from you all..
Take care and God bless..
