Praying that the God of Peace.....

Good Evening, dear friends..
Just a very short posting asking you to pray for a blogging friend who lost her dear husband in the tornado yesterday..
You can read about it here..

I have just met Sherry a few weeks ago on her blog.  She is actually one of this blog's newest followers and we have been emailing each other...She has 13 children...   Her blog is The Bakers Dozen Barnhouse...
There are so many families who have lost their lives and their homes...
We need to hold these dear folks up in prayer that the God of peace will be with them in these terrible hours...
Praying for all our dear friends in this tornado outbreak...
                                Be with them, dear Lord...
                              Strength, peace and protection..
                                        in Jesus Name....
                                    Thank you, dear Lord....

Dinner at the Farm...

Good Morning my dears...
I promised to post some pics today of our day at the farm...
When we arrived it was raining and you can see the fog over the hills ...
This is from the back step....
Can you see the snow?
Terry decided he had better work inside..
The back porch has an old floor that he and Dustin have been tearing up.. What a mess:-)  Hence, no pics of that..
Thank the Lord, he got that all finished and the stove moved and replaced and set up again..
One big job done although it took most of his day.
Meanwhile, I washed everything in the cupboards and counters...
And started dinner...

We call this a Boiled Dinner..
It is just the leftover ham bone with a good amount of meat placed in water and boil away for an hour or two and then add wedges of cabbage, carrot slivers, onion, cubed turnip and whole potatoes..
Boil until everything is fork tender...
Add a nice handful of chopped parsley just before you serve it..
Oh, and salt and pepper of course...
I really messed up yesterday with my camera and deleted a few pics by mistake...
One of them was the dinner without the steam... oh well..
As it was cooking I set the table..
I love these old placemats that I have had since our oldest children were small....

Old farm scenes...

Here is the table all set ...
We always have pickles with our meals.. sometimes even breakfast.
This year we were blessed to have some of our homemade dills left over to enjoy...I think I made at least 100 pounds of cukes...

Anyway... here are a few shots of a few little gatherings in the kitchen...

On top of an old china cupboard in the kitchen...

Inside the cupboard..
Terry bought these sweet dishes for me at an old farm auction in Sussex.
We used to live there 26 years ago and he was best friends with an old farmer..
These belonged to his mother... The farmer's wife told me about them..
It was just before Christmas and the mail came on an old wagon..
His mom could see there was a box of dishes on there and she said ,"Wouldn't it be wonderful to get a nice new set of dishes?"
And in came the mailman with the box...Isn't that sweet?
I cherish these ....

My old rocker...

Tea time after I have washed so many dishes....
Cleaned out all the cupboards..
Washed the stove and windows.... and.....smile...
Here is the  dear old harvest table Terry got at another auction..
What is a farm kitchen without a harvest table??  smile...
Here it is time to pack up the car and head back home...

Eh, Sammi?
He loves it here... This was his first home and he knows when we get here...
Dustin always let him out at the top of the lane and let him run ahead of the car and we do the same... smile..
Well, Lord willing we will be back tomorrow...
Not a leaf on the old apple tree yet...
Soon....

Well, girls I hope you enjoyed the wee visit... I will show some more tomorrow as we are getting ready to go again today..
Better ones, I hope... But it is still raining hard..
So we will be inside again...
God is good and I am thankful for this time in our lives when we can do these things together and still enjoy each other's company.
God has blessed us and I am thankful...

Have a blessed day..
Hope to get back to you tomorrow... Lord willing....
Hugs...

Going to the farm....

Good Morning... A very short post today as my husband will be ready to leave soon.   We are going up to our old farm to spend the day.  It needs some cleaning and fixing as we did not spend much time there since Fall.
These pictures were taken before.. There is still snow up in the Kent Hills but it is gone around the house and fields...

This is just an old farm house that my dear Aunt Eva worked in since 1949... Before that they lived in the old house which was torn down after they built this little one.
What a Keeper of the Home that sweet lady was..
Her buttermilk biscuits were wonderful as was their hospitality..

I need to wash all the dishes and floors, etc.  We had a ham for Easter so the remains of that will be turned into a Boiled Dinner.
We have had that meal before up there...
Maybe, some stovetop biscuits on the old wood stove..
We shall see... smile..

Terry has to cut up some wood and I want an herb bed up there.
Last year I planted some chives and a couple of others that came up again.. Thank you, Lord.
I also want to take a shovel full of Poor Man's Orchid up for the back field for the bees.. They so love that plant.
I did a posting on that last summer but I actually forget if it was on this blog or Primitive Lace.
It is raining quite hard though, so that may not get done...

Have a blessed day and I will try and take some pics of our doings in case you would like to see for tomorrow.
I guess I will not be working on the bathroom... smile...
Oh well... it will still be here when I get back..
God Bless..
Hugs...

COUNTRY BATHROOMS TO PONDER..

Good Morning to you dear girls...Thanks for dropping by.. This is  just a very short post this morning. I thought I would just show you  a few pics that sparked my interest in reference to yesterday's post on our bathroom fix-up...
There is something in each one that drew me in... I thought you all might to have a peek too and give me your input...
Here they are...

The above pics were thanks to Country Living...

This one is from A Primitive Place...
I have lots of prim ideas from my magazines and am not posting them although they are on my mind... of course...

Anyway, just a little look at what I am pondering...
To paint or not to paint....
Also.. I want to be frugal and save Terry some $$$...
I love antiques so watch out for that... smile...

Thanks for all your sweet comments yesterday..
I will keep you up to date with this... Remember, I am SLOW  and the bathroom will never look as lovely as the above pictures..
But I will try..
It is raining here today and I see my Scottish Heather is in bloom.. It is always almost the first to show it's gorgeous colors..
Have a blessed day and I will talk to you all later..
Hugs..

Frugal Bathroom Fix-up BEFORE..

Good Morning my dears... Hope you all had a blessed Easter...
We went away and visited with friends a little North of us.. Their church put on a drama called The Three Theives and it was awesome... In fact, the best I think I have ever seen..
We had such a great time visiting our friends, also...
Thank you Doug and Sheila.... You are precious...

Anyway... Today I have an agenda... A very large list of to dos...
We will be leaving to live at our cottage in just a few weeks and I have so much to accomplish...
Last year when I returned home I had another list of things to do here at home.. One of them that I really wanted to finish before we went back to St. Martins was the guest bathroom... This used to be the one our children used.  Or guests as it is in the centre of the house... Well, our sweet babies have all flown the nest for quite awhile now.. I had redid it after the two older ones had left of course .. Knowing me probably more than once..smile.. They have been gone for twenty years... Where has the time gone?
Well... it needs done again.. The thing being is that we are slowly making plans to rearrange our lives and so I do not want to put a lot into this little room..I need to be FRUGAL...But thank the Lord this little bath has good bones.. smile...
Everything is basically still good... The floors we had redone and the marble, cupboards, etc. are still fine..
So ... it just needs a little frugal updating, eh?
No more CATS....
I love them but we need a change... Terry, by the way does not care what I do so long as it does not pertain to tearing out walls or painting unpainted wood....
So, with that in mind.... I am going to see what I can do on my own and hopefully he will not notice until I am through....smile...
He seldom uses this room...
Anyway... This is what I have to work with....
Perhaps, I need to call my daughter.. We usually discuss our improvement plans and help each other...
Anyway...
There are 2 mirrors and sinks...

Perhaps, I should do some painting...????

The floors are fine.... I wonder if I should paint the cupboards....

I had made a shower curtain and valance to match this scheme but I think a new one would not cost much if I make it...

As I have already said ... The cats are going to be gone..
I need a new style???.. smile...
Although, I love prim... I need to remember that this bath only has one window so it needs to be kept in kind of light colors...
Well, girls this is one thing on my to do list ... I thought if I posted about it you would all hold me to it and it would get completed... smile... There is a method to my madness, shall we say?
So, any suggestions?  I could use a little advice here...
Thanks....

It will probably take me a couple of weeks as I need to work every day on crafts for the shop ...
I will post the AFTER pics as soon as it is finsihed.. ok?
So, please pray for me... And I will pray for you....

Thanks so much for dropping by and a big WELCOME  to all the new followers of the blog.. Your comments are so appreciated.
Today I joined the Homestead Barn Hop..
Enjoy..
Hugs.

NO DAFFODILS HERE....

Hi... Just thought I would show you a few pics of what my day included...
It is Spring here in New Brunswick although looking out the window one would think it was still February...
There is some green grass underneath, though.

Oh my... It made me so cold... I decided I needed this...

To be honest... I could have a fire most days except for the very hot ones.
When we first looked at this house it was the fireplaces that sold it to us...

I actually spent MOST of my day doing this...
TAXES.... I just want to get them DONE...
Tomorrow, hopefully... Please, Lord...

This shelf in my view was calling my name but I kind of resisted...
Some very interesting reading here..
I also need to get ready for next Keepers meeting... These come in handy..

Then there is always some little piece of stitching calling to me, also.. smile..
Isn't this fabric dear... I loved it and thought it would make a cushion... or two..

In the same place are stacks of this...

Cushions, bags, runners, little mats, tea cosies, ohhhhhh so many things to sew..
My shop is needing to be filled and there I sit on an old hard chair adding up numbers..sigh...

A cold day like this required some comforting for my poor husband who worked outside all day..

Potato Scallop .... one of his favorites...

What did you do this Wednesday??

The roads were so bad that things were cancelled.  Terry said there were several cars in the ditches on his way home..

You girls probably picked daffodils:-)
Right??
Or made some dandelion or violet jelly...
Please note in the top pic that our trees do not even have leaves yet... smile..
We have pussy willows, though..
Ahhh.. Canada... there is no place like it...
giggle...
Love to you all...
