That Kind of Day....

Hello everyone..

It was a rather rainy day here in Eastern Canada...
Terry and I headed to Sussex to pick up groceries and do a few errands...

We bought a big bag of apples...

And on a rainy afternoon what does one do with a few of them???

Well... you pick out 6 good sized ones...

And peel them and then slice them...

Put about 1 cup of sugar (more or less), 1/4 of a grated nutmeg, 1 tsp. of really good vanilla and about 1/3 of a cup of flour..

Mix well and place in a prepared pastry filled pie tin..
I used a 9 inch one..

Cover with another circle of pastry and brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar...( a wee tip from my Gram)...

Bake in a 425 degrees F. for 15 minutes..
Lower heat to 375 degrees F. and bake for 35 minutes..

Then make a nice hot cup of tea with china loose tea and cut a piece for you each...

Enjoy...

Well... we did... grin..

Pie is not very often on our menu plan..
Let's just say it was good... very good..

Now for my lists ..... and such......

The new Country Living UK is in...
smile..

Hope you are all having an awesome weekend wherever you may be...

Tomorrow is the Lord's Day...
Have a blessed one..

Hugs..

Such a sweet place...

Good Evening my dears...
Hope you are all doing well...

Here we are... HOME Again...
Is there any place so sweet?  smile..

We were blessed with a wonderful Summer but I am so glad to be back ..

There is so much to do.. (I am not complaining)... smile..
Unpacking and cleaning...
Oh my...

I had only been back two or three times in three months..

And Terry (the dear man) was the one who came home and did whatever... lawns, laundry, garden and such..

Please note that I did not mention housework...
That he does not do.. grin...
Oh well...
It stayed around  is all here and waiting for me..
I kind of feel like I will never catch up but all in  due time, I guess..

We arrived home late Monday evening but our internet order was misplaced and we did not get hooked up until late today..

But here are a few pics of things that have been keeping us busy...

Making some chocolate chip cookies..
So nice to have a working oven after 3 months of doing without..

A bit of decorating..
Putting my lovely present that my cousin Val made for me on my kitchen table...

I just love it and the color is perfect..
Thank you, Val..

Also, Karen from My Colonial Home made my lovely candle cozy... I love it, too...

I do need to get a bit of Fall decorating done..
Later....

We also made a quick trip up to the old farm today...

Checked on our friends..
All seems well... smile..

Then gathered up some wonderful Spring water to bring back home..

So much has changed since my last visit in June..
The grass is dying and the leaves are changing colors..

It was a simply beautiful day there, though we only stayed for a couple of hours..
Next week we hope to go for the day and have dinner there..

My.. it is cold out there tonight..
I had to bring in some of my plants that I leave on the patio for the Summer ...
Full moon I think..

There has been a lovely breeze every day which dried many lines full of laundry..

We made a visit yesterday to the market in the city and visited our youngest son...

It felt like I had not seen him for ages..
The dear lad...
Hence, the chocolate chip cookies.. smile..

There is one happy camper around here..
Sammi...
He has a hard time at the cottage..

When he is there he needs to be tied and is not allowed to bark much and the fireworks drives him nuts..

Here at home he has freedom...

We just hope that the therapy is not too expensive.. grin...
Just kidding..

Anyway.. I am sorry I have not been a good blogger the last few months..
I would go to the shop and then come home and need to make stuff and then I was too tired to post or check your lovely blogs..
But now...
I will try and do better...
Just not tonight.. grin..

Thanks so much for dropping by and welcome to the new followers..
So glad to have you ...

But now before I go, may I ask you to pray for a sweet Keeper of the Home who is also a dear mama..

She and her sweet family need your prayers this day..

Please pray that God will bless them with healing and strength and  that He will comfort them and give them peace even through the night time hours..

We know that He is able to do more than we could ask or think..

Thank you so much sweet ladies...

Sending love and blessing to you all...

House of Henry ... Fall Sale...

Hello everyone...
Well, the first day is over and one more to go before the shop is closed for another year..

The Summer certainly has flown by and a lovely one it was, too..

Tonight, I will just share a few shop pics with you...

Hope you don't mind that it is all I have.. smile..

A long day and I am tuckered..
What else is new, eh?

I did want to thank you all who stopped by and we are open again tomorrow ...

I had a dear old friend drop in..

Her name is Pat and we became friends over 40 years ago when she became my first babysitter..

Such a dear friend and we pick up where ever we left off.. smile..
We have literally talked almost all night.. grin..

So thankful for all the dear ones in my life..
God bless..

September Bay of Fundy...

Hello dear hearts..
What a wonderful wild September day we had..

The tide was so high and the wind was blowing down the chimney...
I loved it..
Terry and I went for a little wave watching with our nice hot cups of coffee and a throw or two.. smile..

The water was so high that it was almost hitting the underside of the bridge...

I was a bit nervous driving over it.. grin..

We have had some lovely company the past couple of days..
Old friends and such a sweet time we had..

After they left I put up some cider mixes and another batch of maple apple jam to sell at the sale on Friday and Saturday..

Tomorrow I will go and decorate the shop if all goes well..
Today we just puttered and went for a couple of drives..
We also went over to the light house and took a wee hike down to get you some good pics..
They are the first ones..
On the way back we saw all the ducks in the marsh..
So beautiful...

But ...
Guess what..
This time next week Lord willing we will be back at home and trying to get back to normal...

God is good...
Take care my friends..
I hope to get back to normal blogging and catching up once we get back home..

Sending love and prayers...

This week.....

Hello my friends..
A little Friday posting of mostly pics for you tonight..

We have had a week of coming and going and doing..
So...
Come along and I will show you.. smile..
First of all on Monday Terry took me for a little day trip to Calais, Maine...

As we passed by St. John we saw that there were 2 cruise ships in the harbour...

We had a fun day and I noticed these seagulls as Terry was filling the tank with some cheaper gas..

They were all looking across the St. Croix River to Canada..
I guess Immigration was a bit slow that day.. grin..

Then on Tuesday we needed to go home again for the night..

The choke cherries are out in full force..
The Summer went so fast..

We also stopped at a veggie stand and picked up some basil that was all blossomed..
I had not seen it sold that way before..

Drying it out in the dehydrator...
I think I will put the flowers in a potpourri..
What do you think?

A pasture scene taken on the way back to the cottage..

I told you that I thought Terry should find me a nice one, eh?
grin...

Anyway...

A beautiful day when we arrived back here..

Each evening we usually go for a little spin (as we call it)...

The wild rose hips are wonderful this year..
Everywhere you look on the side of the road they are growing..
Pretty....

Decided to make some lovely spiced.....

Crab Apples...

Oh my.. They are so good..
Although, they kind of burst a bit...
Oh well.. They taste great and look lovely and red..

My fave Julia Child's recipe...

Terry loves it too..

The most simple recipe but so much flavor..
A definite keeper and so nice to serve guests...

Potato and Leek Soup...
Find the recipe HERE

Gathering some wild cucumbers to dry for some potpourri..

Another Date Night..

Summer at the cottage is almost over..
Another week and we will be heading home..

My poor man had a bad day yesterday..

I kept singing to him and for some reason he didn't seem to be enjoying it.. grin..
Don't you love that old song ...

I Just Want to Go Home..

Have you all heard it? ?

After the tenth time he asked me to give it up.. grin..
