An Herb and Medicine Class and a wee question for you...

Hi everyone...
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth...

Sharing lots of pictures of our visit and class on Herbs and Medicine that Lindsay and I was blessed to take at the beautiful historical village of Kings Landing ...
Heading out early in the morning...

Our wonderful teacher...

I guess I will let the pictures do the talking.. smile..

We had a wonderful time and learned soooo much..
The teacher was so kind and very smart..

We walked all the way through the village and she would point out all the plants that were just growing wild and what they did..

Then when we were at the end we went to an herb garden and picked herbs to make 3 kinds of medicine..
From peppermint, comfrey and tansy and such..

The girls who were taking the class with us were so much fun, too..
And I was surprised to meet my niece and her family on their vacation weekend... smile..
We even had a nice snack of their molasses cake which was made that day..

When it was all over we rode on the wagon back to the top..
Oh my... it was so hot, though.. I was almost fried.. grin..
It was worth it though..

I was wondering if you would let me know which is your favorite photo and why...
OK?

And did you notice that I replied to your comments last post..
I will try to at least answer your questions this way from now on..

Have a blessed week where ever your heart is...
Hugs...

  1. Oh Faye, I cannot pick just one photo, they are all great. I have narrowed it down to two, the sheep and the water mill. I love sheep (especially little lambs) and the water mill always looks so homey to me. Not that I have ever lived in a place with one! xo

  2. Hi Faye;

All of your photos are beautiful, but the second to last photo of the water is my favorite. I love the wide open space and the blue water and skies. Looking at the picture I feel a sense of peace and release.

Your class sounds like it was so much fun - what a great idea.

  4. I can't just pick one photo. If I had to, I would pick the one with the waterwheel. There is just something about them that I like. I can't believe how blue the water looked in another picture.

It sounds like a wonderful time. I have wanted to learn about herbs but just haven't taken the time yet.

    Have a wonderful evening.

  6. Hi Faye, they're all wonderful photos! But my favorite has to be the old mill. I've always been fascinated with those big water wheels and they make such lovely photos. I wish I could take a class like the one you went to it would be so much fun. Hugs dear friend!

  7. Oh Faye, I also cannot pick just one picture. I really like the one showing the side of the house with the red geraniums in the open windows and also the one of (I guess you would call it the parlor) the room with the table set for tea. This seems like a wonderful place to visit and soak up all the knowledge about plants, and now you can make all kinds of wonderful new things for the shop. Take care, my friend, and enjoy these last weeks of summer!

And, what a neat place to go and spend the day.
My favorite picture is the one with the sheep grazing. It looks so peaceful and gives me a warm feeling of simpler times.

Rosemary is my favorite herb. It smells and tastes wonderful, and clean.
Beautiful to look at too :)

    Enjoy your evening.

  9. They are all so good, I like the water wheel one, but even better the open road just starting out. No traffic, and a vista that just draws you to it, an open road is like a new day, the possibilites are just endless and it makes me want to dicovery what it holds for me.

  11. Good morning from Holland. My favorite photo is number three, because it reminds me on 'the oldtimes' at home. We had a farm and also a horse with a wagon. And then we went working on the land. I was very young then so my 'working' was not very much ;-)
    Have a nice day!

  16. Morning Faye Henry
I think I love all your photos.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I enjoyed going along with your photos.
My fav would be of the house with the geraniums in the windows. When I was a girl my grandmother would grow her geraniums in her bedroom window through the winter. They are my very fav now.

We have been watching Cash Cowboys who are from Canada - and they travel all the roads and the show we watched last night they were in the Bay of Fundy, PEI, all the places you talk about.

And I showed these to my hubby, and his favorite were the ones with the enormous draft horses. His daddy used to plow their garden with a horse like that.
So glad you had such a wonderful time!

  19. They are all gorgeous, Faye! Wow, what a wonderful sounding day. My favorite is the teacher, as she looks like the 'wise old woman', who could help you with her herbals. The composition of the lake picture is perfect. Sky and lake blues blend beautifully in the background. The balance of the unequal sized barn and trees across the way is very nice. Thanks for sharing your day! Hugs~Lori

  20. Your pictures are all wonderful, I'd have to say I like the mill, this is where my father-in-law worked for 16 years. I think I've told you before, but when they put the damn in these houses were all saved and moved there to form the village. My husband grew up along the river so he has a story to tell about all the buildings, he was young but he always amazes me with some of the stories he has about Kings Landing.
And an herb class I wish I had known I would have loved to have gone.

  22. There are all beautiful pictures but my pick would be the one up from the last. The water, the old barn, the beautiful yellow wildflowers, the bright blue sky above. I have always been partial to blue and yellow together. I am so glad you got to go enjoy this class. I look forward to reading posts about the different medicines you learned how to make. Enjoy your day and God bless.

I think I have these in my computer too. :) That would be an interesting visit about the uses of herbs and plants. My heart is in Fort McMurray and is being blessed with the time I'm having with my family and little grandsons. Hugs, Pamela

  30. I was going to take the same class, but didn't want to go alone. I wish I would have gone so we could have met!! My husband and I spent the day there on Saturday. I have some lovely pictures to post, if my blog will let me. Lately I am having trouble uploading the pics. On Saturday, a couple of the ladies taught me how to do rug hooking, and I even joined them at the frame and got to finish a small section. Another lovely lady taught me how to make a proper penny rug. I had so much fun! I just love it there! Thank you for sharing your day!

  33. Hi!

It's me Terri from the workshop. And I believe that's my white hat up there in the pic LOL I had so much fun hanging out with you that I simply had to check out your blog. I love it. You are such a fun and refreshing person and I will definitely be visiting this site often. I hope to make it out to the store someday but in the meantime, I'll see you here and probably have lot's of canning questions if you don't mind... :) Oh and all the pics are great but I think 12 is my fave because if you look in the window you can see life in the home.
