Little Happenings...

Good Evening my dears...
Did you think that I had forsaken you?  smile..

I had a small problem with my camera ..

The last time I did a post I set my camera on the table beside me and proceeded to spill half of my cup of tea on it.. Yikes..
I shook it out and dried it the best I could but by morning it stopped working..

To make a long story short my dear friend Pam advised me to put it in a box or bag of rice..
Which I did and thank the good Lord it is now working 100%... smile...

So.. if this little accident happens to you..
Whether a camera or phone just pop it right away into a zip lock bag of rice ...
It only took a couple of days...

So.. I am back... smile..
I just thought I would once again share some pics of my days..

Terry and I headed out early this morning for another little trip to Fredericton..
There was a lot of fog..

Kinda pretty, though, eh?

And in the last few days we have been in a genuine pickle.. grin..

These are Sweet Garlic Dills..
Every one's favorite except for me..
I love sour pickles..
Oh.. remember the sour pickles I tried..
I LOVE them...
I shared the recipe HERE..
They do taste like Gram's...

This is the Reversing Falls Bridge in the fog early this morning..

Can you see it?

Terry planted lots of tomatoes and brought some down over the weekend..

We have our garden at home..
There is not enough room to grow much except herbs here at the cottage..

I am trying out a new recipe that I concocted..

Green Tomato and Ginger Chow..
I hope it will work out..
I'll let you know in a week or so...
The ginger has to do it's work in the pickle for awhile..

More fog.
I noticed several trees whose leaves have already changed their color..sigh...
I don't want Summer to leave us yet.. smile..

Don't you love fresh tomatoes?

I hope to make some nice fresh tomato and basil soup maybe tomorrow.. yummy...
The recipe for that is HERE..
Except instead of using canned tomatoes I use fresh ones..
OK?

We have these signs along our highways...

Do you?
I am terrified of the moose..
They are huge and can demolish a car in a flash...

These pickles are for sandwiches...

We made some Sweet Dill ones last year for the first time and my friend Janelle's husband tried them out and loved them..
So... we made a bunch....

By the time we headed back to St. Martins the fog was pretty well cleared off..

The lovely St. John River..
Then it poured rain.. We could hardly see to drive..
Talk about change of weather..
All in one day... smile..

Terry has been craving this meal so I decided to make it ...

Again... grin..
Rice and Stir fry...

What have you sweet ladies been up to?

I know I am a bit boring these last few weeks with the pickle thing but Lord willing it will mostly be over this week..

I am planning on being in the Art in the Park at the Fundy Trail on Sunday..
It is the only show I do all year and my Mom and Step Father are coming down for the weekend to go to it, too..
I sell pickles, jams and jellies, fudge, salves, crafts and other homemade goodies..
It is fun...

Then next Friday night the Keepers are hopefully coming for their over niter.. Sept. 7th..
And.... then in a couple of weeks is my closing sale... Sept. 23rd..

Then homeward bound..
It has been a glorious Summer..

September in St. Martins is wonderful...
Wind, rain, fog and huge waves..
What more could a somber weather girl ask for?  grin...

Thanks for visiting..

As always I love having you and hearing from you all..
Don't forget that I try and reply to each comment so come back and check if you like... smile..

May the Lord richly bless you and your sweet families..

  1. Hi Faye, I haven't visited around for a long time and your post was at the top of my list tonight. I have a few days to myself so will try to visit some more blogs and maybe write a few. Your pickles look wonderful. I haven't made anything this summer. I've been running the roads too much! That was quite a thunder storm in Fredericton this afternoon. The power went out in Costco! Ha. Great place to be eh? I can't believe it's almost time for you to finish at the shop for the summer. It sure went fast but it was a beautiful one. Take care. Hugs, Pam

  4. I am so happy that your camera is okay. My Son-in-law dropped his cell phone in the lake at the end of the dock. He thought it would never dry out and it would be a goner for sure. He found it and then sealed it in a bag of rice for two days. Well, he is still using that cell phone now, a year later!

Faye, you could never be boring. I love all of your pickle making! I have not made my grandmother's "icicle" pickles in a long time. My family loves them. And my sister always used to make Grandma's recipe for bread and butter pickles that we all love, too. Mmmmm...I can taste them now!

Take care now and I have been thinking of you.....

    Blessings to you and Terry,
    Susannah

  5. You are Never boring! Those fog pictures look like something out of a dream, I just love them!! My Momma always used to tell me to upside down the jars to make sure they seal, early on in my canning days, I tried that. I ended up with a mess on the counter! Now I just keep them right side up, but leave them out for a few days before putting them away. Hope the show goes so well, blessings dear friend, Faye!

    1. Hi Ann.. I don't put them upside to seal.. I put them upside down to stop the pickles from rising to the top.. If you don't you sometimes have a space at the bottom of the jar with just the liquid and the pickles rise to the top... This stops that from happening...
      God bless, my dear..

  6. indeed, you're not boring at all. Fog photos are great, so different than the norm. I remember my mom making dill pickles and bread and butter pickles. I've never made them. I cut up, with hubby's help, some peaches on Sunday, and froze 4 qt bags full. I usually don't do that then but was gone Fri and Sat to my sister's in WA for a visit and to do her son and his girlfriend's senior photos. So I am trying to catch up with things at home and work. Hoping fall will slow life down a bit. I've had a busy summer. But thankful for that. Am praying my daughter gets the job she interviewed for today. I'd appreciate prayers for Megan. She's working but needs a better job and something in the field she's studying in. God is good to us, in many ways. Take care! Hugs!

    2. Megan didn't get the job she interviewed for. But next day she got a call that she got the volunteer job she wanted with the sheriff's dept. She'd been waiting word on that as well. So good things come when we least expect it and there is a reason for what happens, we just don't know what God has in store for us!

  9. I'll have to keep the camera in the rice trick in mind. I had a young girl spill soda all over mine one day. Fortunately, it didn't break but that's good to know for the future! Your pickles look wonderful!

  10. Good morning Faye!
You have had quite a busy week, thus far.
I loved seeing the pictures of the fog. I think it makes everything look somewhat magical; although, I don't like driving in it.

Wishing you the best of luck with the show. I hope it's a sell-out for you!!

As always, I so enjoy my visits here. Thank you for taking time to post.

    Have a lovely day.

  12. Dear Mrs. Henry~
Glad to see you back! :)
I think that the fog pic's are pretty especially since I like photography! *smile*
No, we do not have "moose crossing" signs...instead "deer crossing" signs, funny in a way! I would be scared of a moose as well...especially the "daddy" ones! :) The pickles look very good.
Did you use a particular flavor/seasoning's for your stirfry? My family and I are all big stirfry lovers!
Thanks for sharing the tip about the camera or phone!
    Well, I must run!
    Sending you a big hug~
    Maggie M.
    p.s.
We have no camera right now beacause our girl's have our camera!

I haven't been around in a long time. Just look at all the 'goodness' I have been missing.
Always a delight to come here and take the tour with you and find out what you are up to...and it's always something grand.
Pickles are so delish when homemade aren't they?

  14. I love your foggy pictures, Faye! There is something about fog... so mysterious... I like it. I'll have to remember the camera trick- as long as I don't forget where I put the rice. *grin*
I hope your chow recipe works~ it sure sounds good.
We don't have moose, just deer; but they are bad about running in front of cars too. The hunting season starts in a few weeks and I dread it because there has been a beautiful little doe and her baby eating in our field every morning, and although the hunt will be for bucks only, I know she will not return after the shooting starts. *Sigh*
    I sure have missed you...

  15. Dear Faye,
In the pic of the sweet dill, why are they all upside down? Love the Fog! Love how you really have to look to see what you are looking at, makes the pics unique. I am so excited for the Keepers sleepover. I really enjoy it and so relaxing.

    1. Hi Charlene.. (I think).. smile..
The pickles are upside down so that they won't float to the top and have just liquid at the bottom.. This makes the veggies or fruit distribute throughout the juices.. Neat trick, eh?
God bless.. Looking for you all...

  16. You certainly do stay busy, my friend, I feel like a real sluggard compared to you. So I won't compare, it's not a wise thing to do anyways.
