Home again.. Home again..

Happy Weekend everyone...
Hope all is well with you wherever you may be..

I have returned home from Shonda's where I had a lovely time..

I have posted a few pics from around her home..
My camera has broken a piece off of it and we spent time trying to fix it with crazy glue but did not have much success..
I had to bring it home and hope dear hubby can do it... smile..

Perhaps my friend, Karen, who blogs
HERE AT MY COLONIAL HOME  will notice some of her own wonderful hand work.. smile..

There are a few pics for you anyway..

It is greening up outside a lot the last few days and Spring has arrived.. It rained the whole time I was there ...

I left here very early and picked up a couple of Tim Horton's coffees when I was almost there.. Shonda was already and we took off for Calais, Maine..

We had such fun shopping and enjoyed a lovely Bistro type restaurant that I did not even know was there..

I was so blessed to walk into Mardens and find a new shipment of homespun fabrics in..
 Oh joy...
I use a lot of this in the things that I make for the shop..
I hope to make some homespun type buntings (my newest like in crafts), cushions, table runners, etc..

They also had the wonderful big containers for $8.00..
We each bought one..
Perhaps a terrarium....ummm,,, not sure yet..
I have been wanting to get a betta fish and put it in one of the bottles along with a bunch of herb cuttings..
We shall see.. smile..

Then we arrived home in time to make supper for the grandsons..
Shepherd's Pie..
So good..

Shonda just cooked up some hamburger and mashed potatoes.. Heated up some frozen veggies.. corn, peas and carrots..
Then layered it in a casserole dish..

First layer.. a can of tomato soup mixed with the heated veggies..
Second Layer is the hamburger cooked up with garlic and onions..
Third layer is mashed potatoes mixed with butter and cream..
Butter the top with a bit of parsley and heat up for half an hour till nice and hot..

It was great to go to Bible Study with her and the boys..
It was wonderful teaching and so nice to see everyone..
We mostly attend their church once we go to the cottage as it is so much closer..
We enjoy attending with her family for a few months as we go with our boys and their families when we are home..

Yesterday morning we just sat around and had coffee and chatted..
We discussed the new plans for the shop and she gave me some of her opinions.. It was great to talk to someone who has the same type of ideas as I do and knows where I am coming from..
Having a work spot at the front of the shop made sense to her so I am hoping it works out.. smile..
She suggested that I start a Facebook page for the shop.
What do you think?

Then, of course, it was good to get home again and see hubby.. I know he missed me..smile.. I must say that I still find it hard to accept that Sammi is not at the door waiting for me, too..
Sad, eh?

I just read this to Terry and he said to tell you all that he is living the dog's life now..
I would say he has it made then, eh?  grin..

Well, sweet friends, thank you so much for your visit and your lovely comments..
You ladies make my heart sing with your kind words..

Take care and we will chat again soon..

Weekending...

Happy Monday to you all..

Another weekend has come and gone..
For us this was a very busy one but lovely..

Spring is so in the air here in Eastern Canada .. There are river watches and some wind and rain coming our way the next few days..

I love Spring..
My absolute most fave season..
Like a new beginning..
Fresh and new.. Full of lovely potential..
Flowers, herbs, new paint, lots of wind and rain (you know how I love that duo ) farm days with Terry, sheets on the line and perhaps a wee trip to Pa...
Who knows..

On Friday we woke and took a little spontaneous trip across the border to Maine..
Terry had to go into the bank on our way to get some American money..
As he was leaving he noticed they had some cookies.. grin..
He asked if he could have one and they that they guessed he could this one time..
He came out and told me and we laughed for five minutes..
Small things amuse small minds.. grin..
Anyway, we had a lovely day..
Bought some fabric..
Found some lovely prizes for the Keepers meeting and a few grocery items..

On Saturday we stayed home and I experimented with the No knead bread recipe again..
You can find it HERE..

One of the Keepers emailed me that she had made the bread after our last meeting..
Janet said she had made small loaves as her bread pans were smaller than mine and her four growing boys loved it..
She said she had made a Parmesan Oregano one..

I couldn't wait to try some so I made 2 batches and divided them into four small loaves and did different Subway type versions..
Parmesan Oregano, Italian Herb and Cheese, Feta and Herbs and Wholewheat and Honey...

I loved how they turned out..

After they rise the first time then divide them in two and add whatever choice you decide on..
I just guessed and kind of knead in the cheese and herbs and make into a roll..
Sprinkle some on top and let them rise again..
The cheese and herbs ones were the faves..

My dear Mom and her husband came over Saturday night for supper.. smile..

She always brings a few little things for me..

A lovely bundle of linen tea towels for me to make into bread bags...

The little antique sweater and bib that she picked up for me at the auction..

This was written on the back of the old box that they came in..
1951..
Older then I am.. smile..

Supper..

Boiled Dinner..

Then we had a wonderful Sunday..
Full of lovely church services and lots of company for lunch in the afternoon..

One of the Keepers and her children along with our daughter-in-law and grandsons...
Their husbands were working..

It was another spontaneous thing so the food and table setting were very plain and done in a hurry..
Those kids were hungry.. smile..

Cheesy and kid friendly.. grin..
Coffee and afternoon chat with kids going everywhere..
Then back to church for another blessed service..

God is awesome..
He blesses us in many ways..

Our sweet daughter and her family are back here on the good old Canadian terra ferma from Jamaica..
Very glad they are back..

And happy that you joined me this evening..
You are sweet to leave all of your lovely comments and even  sending me emails..
You make this blog so much fun..

Folks love face book but I do not find it creative for me..
Each to their own, I guess..
Blogging makes me sort of accountable for my time and my talents that God has graced me with and I feel like you are friends..
So thankful..

And welcome to the new followers..
Please note a few new sites on my blog list..
Hope you find them as inspiring as I do..

Take care, dear hearts..
Praying for you..

This week.....

Hello my friends..
A little Friday posting of mostly pics for you tonight..

We have had a week of coming and going and doing..
So...
Come along and I will show you.. smile..
First of all on Monday Terry took me for a little day trip to Calais, Maine...

As we passed by St. John we saw that there were 2 cruise ships in the harbour...

We had a fun day and I noticed these seagulls as Terry was filling the tank with some cheaper gas..

They were all looking across the St. Croix River to Canada..
I guess Immigration was a bit slow that day.. grin..

Then on Tuesday we needed to go home again for the night..

The choke cherries are out in full force..
The Summer went so fast..

We also stopped at a veggie stand and picked up some basil that was all blossomed..
I had not seen it sold that way before..

Drying it out in the dehydrator...
I think I will put the flowers in a potpourri..
What do you think?

A pasture scene taken on the way back to the cottage..

I told you that I thought Terry should find me a nice one, eh?
grin...

Anyway...

A beautiful day when we arrived back here..

Each evening we usually go for a little spin (as we call it)...

The wild rose hips are wonderful this year..
Everywhere you look on the side of the road they are growing..
Pretty....

Decided to make some lovely spiced.....

Crab Apples...

Oh my.. They are so good..
Although, they kind of burst a bit...
Oh well.. They taste great and look lovely and red..

My fave Julia Child's recipe...

Terry loves it too..

The most simple recipe but so much flavor..
A definite keeper and so nice to serve guests...

Potato and Leek Soup...
