Blessed!

Hello there dearies.. 

Hope you had a great Easter weekend.. 

What a lovely time of year.. 

A few days when the world takes the time to celebrate the wonderful hope that we have in Jesus.. 

To count our blessings as Christians in a world today that sometimes seems to have lost their hope.. 

Misplaced it is really more accurate.. 

Jesus paid a price for our souls to give us a hope beyond the grave.. 

So blessed to realize  all over again that because He lives we can face tomorrow! 

So love that old song.. 

The peace He gives is what makes the difference to Christians.. 

You can't explain it but when you go through the storms of life and call on His Name then He is there with you and gives you that real peace that only He can give.. 

The storm may still be going on but His love gets you through.. 

He is our refuge..

So thankful.. 

Spring is here in Eastern Canada...

The snow is leaving.. 

Thank the Lord.. 

Ready for sun, gardens and clothes blowing on the line.. smile.. 

There were a few decorations around here for a week or so.. 

Then on Good Friday we headed to our daughter's house..

As always her home was decorated beautifully!  

Dinner was great! 

The boys were there and it was so nice to see them.. 

They are busy with university which will soon be over for the summer.. 

Shonda made these little baskets for each place setting.. 

So sweet, eh? 

Then we had a beautiful service on Sunday with worship to the King of kings.. 

On Monday we had Mom and my Step-Father over for dinner.. 

So blessed to still have her with us.. 

She brought me a loaf of homemade bread, a big package of napkins, cookie tins and a big bowl ... smile.. 

She still makes her own bread quite often.. 

Isn't that wonderful? 

She loved looking at anything new there might be here.. 

Some pantry lights, window herbs and a bunting... 

We had a Turkey dinner and enjoyed the afternoon visiting.. 

Then we drove down to Sussex to have dinner with our oldest son, Trevor for supper with his family.. 

It was delicious!  

The boys had their girlfriends there and we had a good time... 

Trevor had to work this Easter so we couldn't seem to get together all at the same time.. 

That happens some years.. 

And of course our youngest son is out west.. 

Thought about him all weekend.. Miss him... 

I made a new soup from Marion Cunningham's cookbook.. 

Mustard Green Soup.. 

It was good but I probably won't make it again as Terry wouldn't even try it.. I liked it but not enough to make it again.. 

Mustard greens are a bit bitter..smile.. 

So ... 

Easter is over for another year but the hope of the happenings of that Easter 2000 years ago are with us every day.. 

Giving us peace and hope...

Daughter's Winter Decor and such..

Happy Weekend everyone.. 

Hope you have a great one.. 

We are supposed to have a pretty cold night here in New Brunswick and then after the weekend perhaps some rain.. 

I hope not.. 

It just makes such a mess when we have this much snow but we have no control over the weather, eh? 

Just thankful to live here in the North.. 

We are used to snow storms, rain storms, slush and cold temps.. 

There are a lot of pluses, though, that is for sure.. 

Pure crisp air, beautiful scenery, winter sports and so much more.. 

It is great to love where you live and I certainly do.. 

Actually, I am quite a spoil sport in the fact that I do not desire to even visit elsewhere.. 

The love of travel just did a flyby when I was being created.. grin.. 

Then it landed safe and sound in our daughter.. 

She loves to travel as do our sons, really..

Mentioning Winter and our daughter... smile.. 

I am posting some pics of her Winter decor of her Foyer.. 

As you can see, we have two different styles..  

Shonda is very creative and made these mason jar lamps.. 

I think you just put paint inside the bottles and swirl it around.. 

Then fill with fairy lights as the English call them.. smile.. 

Winter in Canada means a more natural decor.. 

Pine cones, birch bark and moss are there for the picking.. 

Some greenery you can use are Pine, Firs and Cedars just for a few.. 

Shonda is using pine.. 

She also made the pillow from Burlap and painted on black cloth.. 

The Crazy Quilt was part of the Homespun Christmas present her mama gave her.. grin.. 

It is mostly satins and I found it at a Thrift store.. 

Actually, I almost kept it but I do not need it.. 

Right? 

This is another wall in her foyer.. 

Our grandsons have had their photos drawn several times as they have grown up.. 

Sweet young men, now.. 

Anyway.. 

Dave bought Shonda this old trunk at the Antique Flee Market many years ago.. 

Shonda made the chalk board and all of the snowballs you see here.. 

Aren't they perfect for Winter decor..

A few months ago I went shopping with her to buy some new table settings, napkins, table runner and such.. 

It was so much fun.. 

Spending Dave's money.. grin.. 

I especially love the napkin rings.. 

I decided that day that I would try and make some for myself.. 

I was in the craft business for over 20 years and had collected a lot of old jewellery, buttons and such and figured I could do a few much cheaper then Shonda's lovely ones..  

And so... 

This afternoon I dug out a few napkin rings that I had picked up at the Christmas Tree Shop when we were in Bangor.. 

And hidden away in my craft room were a bottle of jewels.. 

  and a basket full of old beads and such... 

Along with my trusty old glue gun I made a few.. 

The thing is that this post is too long so you will have to come back next time to see how they turned out.. 

I must say that I do like them.. 

Friday night at our house means either go out for supper or make something we love.. 

Hence.. 

Home made Tomato Basil Sauce and Pasta.. 

A few of you asked last post for the Pumpkin Preserves Recipe.. 

Here it is.. 

Pumpkin Preserves resembles Marmalade but has a vastly different flavor.. 

Quite sweet though so I do cut the sugar back a bit.. 

That is up to you.. 

Old Fashioned Pumpkin Preserves...

5 pounds of pumpkin... peeled and cut into small pieces..

3/4 pound of root ginger..peeled and cut into small pieces..

3 lemons cut up fine.. I use the whole lemon..

5 pounds of sugar  (I use 4 pounds)

Cut pumpkin into small pieces and add the sugar..

Let stand for 24 hours..

Put in a large pot along with ginger and lemon...Bring to a boil.. Simmer on top of stove until pumpkin is clear...

Take out pumpkin with a slotted spoon and let the juice simmer until quite thick..

Add pumpkin mixture and bring back to a boil..

Bottle and seal...

A Springtime Visit with Dear Daughter...

Happy Weekend my dears.. 

How are you all doing? 

We are beginning to think that perhaps Spring is actually going to appear here in New Brunswick.. 

We still have loads of snow but it is melting very fast.. 

We have had some rain and lovely breezes that are doing their Spring work.. smile.. 

We were down to visit our daughter a day or so ago..

Despite the snow she has her home decorated for Spring.. 

I thought you might like to see a few pics of her new home this season.. 

I love her new bunny that is on an old trunk in her foyer.. 

Isn't he cute? 

Shonda has a way with little vignettes as you can see.. 

Her bedroom is quite lovely.. 

The last time I posted a picture I don't think she had the new cushions and such.. 

I love her color scheme in there.. 

She has her morning coffee and devotions there.. 

Such a comfy place to be, I think.. 

Our sweet grandsons were about and visiting with us.. 

They have grown into such wonderful young men.. 

I know ... I am a grandma, eh!  smile.. 

Shonda made a wonderful meal and filled her Dad's plate way too high but he ate it all.. 

Salmon, shrimp and scallops.. 

Mashed potatoes, haricot verts, baby carrots, hot bread and homemade pickles.. 

Yummy.. 

Then her special homemade apple pie.. 

She has a wee secret in making that but I can't figure it out..grin..  

It tastes awesome..

It was a great time and we are happy that Dave loves his 

father-in-law.. 

They are so funny..  grin..

A Winter Visit...

Good Evening everyone.. 

We are having another storm day here in Atlantic Canada.. 

The second one this week.. 

It is slowing down a bit tonight but the wind is causing white out conditions.. 

Just what we Canadians love.. 

A white Christmas... 

Terry and I had to go to the city on Monday and I took a couple of pics along the way.. 

I would say we have twice as much snow now.. 

We stayed overnight with our daughter and her family and had a lovely time.. 

They are all so hospitable.. 

We sat around the Christmas tree and chatted ... 

Our sweet grandsons were there and we were so pleased to see them.. 

They are growing up into young men way too fast for this Grandma... smile.. 

Matt did 40 push ups for his Grandpa just to prove that he could.. grin.. 

And Carter serenaded us with his guitar.. 

They are wonderful boys and we are so pleased that they have placed God first in their lives.. 

We just pray that they will walk with Him all the days of their lives.. 

Thankful...

The river was very Wintry looking.. 

Shonda has several trees up and decorated.. 

She even drove us to Terry's appointments and cooked  breakfast after we returned.. 

We were in a hurry as we wanted to go across the border again.. 

There were a bunch of people there again.. 

I do not like shopping in a crowd but managed to get a few things that I was happy about... 

The moon was full and beautiful on our drive back home last night.. 

I wanted to thank Dustin, Veronique and the lads for a sweet birthday party on Sunday.. 

They arranged it and surprised me so much.. 

The rest of our family could not get there as we were having a blizzard but Dustin lives closer and was there when we arrived at church..

I tried to get Terry to turn around and go back as it was quite the storm but he kept plowing forward.. grin.. 

I was glad he had after we got there..

And then when we returned home there were many phone calls 

from the kids and friends all wishing me Happy Birthday . 

Also a rather special call with the whole Mayo family singing the birthday song.. Such sweet friends.. I so enjoyed our chat..

What can I say except that I am thankful to have my health and strength and for my dear dear family..
