Keepers of the Home Meeting... It's all about HOME...

A blessed Sabbath to everyone...
Just a short posting today..
We had a lovely Keepers of the Home meeting yesterday and just thought I would tell you about it .
We only had 7 but one was a new visitor and we loved having you Laura..
We started the morning off  preparing our breakfast together..
We were on a Fall theme so we had pumpkin spice french toast and syrup.. Along with coffee topped with whipped cream and sprinkled with the same spice..
Also some juice and a dear sister in the church  sent us a banana bread... Thank you, dear Sister Ann...
Anyway...
After prayer and breakfast the girls listened to a little something that the Lord laid on my heart..
We talked about the HOME..
We discussed what is so essential to find behind those closed doors when our sweet families come home.... Like love and laughter, trust and security and worship and guidance..

We also talked about the SEASONS OF THE HOME
SPRING... everything is young and new... just the two of you and getting to know each other.. getting through the rainstorms of adjustment..
just like spring.. everything new..
SUMMER  .. there are probably children, you have adjusted to each other, good times together as family, working and playing, enjoying good health.. the best time of your lives...
just like summer.. vacation time..
FALL.. children are leaving one by one, it is a time of adjustment and preparation of empty nests and learning to lean more on each other and filling the empty places left from your children leaving..
looking after your parents.
Just like fall... preparing for winter...
WINTER...just the two of you again.. children have flown..good times still with family but must be scheduled... you start downsizing and getting ready to leave this old world..perhaps health issues..your children start helping you...
Just like Winter.. everything fades away...

That certainly is not the end of Home ...
When we know Christ we go HOME forevermore..
Isn't God good?

Well after that we got into making a few crafts...
Pumpkins that I found on Pinterest...
Here are some of the girls holding up their efforts... smile..
They also made some prim bags to hold some dried flowers that they will go picking with their children,..
A fun task to do..
They can hang them on a door somewhere...
We didn't get every one's photo because I forgot all about the camera till later, of course..
This is PUMPKIN PIE SPICE..
My sweet friend Donna over at MERRY HEART CRAFTS BLOG shared her recipe with us..
PUMPKIN SPICE RECIPE..
3 T. cinnamon
1 Tsp. nutmeg
1/2 Tsp. ginger
1/4 Tsp. allspice
Blend well..

That is all for today, dear ladies..
Thanks so much for dropping by..
Hope you are all having a wonderful day..
God bless..

KEEPERS BY THE SEA 2011

Hello everyone..
Did you all think that perhaps I was among the missing... Sorry..
We had a busy and fun filled weekend..
The Keepers all arrived here on Friday evening weighted down with bag and baggage.. grin..
It was so nice to see them all..
There were a few missing and we wished they had been able to attend but life happens and we miss some things that go on..
But for the 8 that were here we had a wonderful and blessed time..
We had a guest all the way from Indiana, USA
The sweet girl grew up here and I used to keep her a lot when she was small...
So much fun reminiscing and gladly taking the blame for her love of pasta... grin..
Anyway.. we are so glad you were here Fonda..
Janet came also although we feel she is one of us and so pleased she made it here, too..
Anyway.. On Friday night we went out to dinner..
Ohhhhh... it was delicious....
One of the best places here in town to go..(my opinion) Some had Tex Mex and then 2 of us had pasta..
I won't mention any names..smile..
They had chicken, steak, fish..
It was all divine..
Then we had a wonderful walk down to the sea..
The wind was quite strong and it was late so we just came home and snuggled down for the night..
There were treats galore and lots of gab..
A devotion time and then some of us went to bed..
Some stayed up until the wee wee hours.. grin..
And then with a few hours sleep we arose... smile..
Sitting around having coffee...
And then..
Someone set the table..

Some of us had some more fellowship... smile.

And some more of us got to chatting...

About everything...
Our children, our jobs, our sweet hubbies and even a new baby or two on it's way..
Meanwhile....

Someone sees to putting the chairs around the table.. grin..
And last but not least...
Our guests are cooking the breakfast...
Yeah... it was so good.. Thanks girls..

Charlene made and brought some homemade biscuits and rice pudding... They were delicious..
Thanks Char...

Oh and they loved the fresh rose vase that I put together in a couple of minutes..

An old extra large mason jar and fresh roses and some water...
I had a rose candle burning and the cover was on the roses..
They thought that the roses must surely be the strongest smelling ones they ever came across.. giggle..
Some people's kids... grin...

Anyway... later in the morning they all tramp over to the wee shop...

And most of them carried away quart size antique mason jars to put their roses in..

Oh.. and they brought me coffees..
Someone raised those girls right.. grin..
Thanks dear ladies..
It was a wonderful time of fellowship..
We laughed and we cried and we are all so thankful to Jesus for being our Savior..
Because He lives we are joined in fellowship  together serving and praising Him for His goodness towards us..
So.. girls.. Thanks for coming.. Thank you for your love and respect that Terry and I both  receive from you all.. You are special in God's sight and ours..
They love Terry, too even if we do send him back home with Sammi for the night..

So.. girls until next year if the Lord tarries I pray He will keep you all and your sweet families in His love and care..
Sweet Dreams and Heavenly Blessings...

Thanks so much for visiting and for the new followers of the blog I am so glad you joined us..
I delight in your comments and read and reread every one..
Bless you all and sending hugs your way...

Mix Recipes for Summer and a Keepers of the Home Meeting...

Good Evening All.. I guess you could say that I have been missing in action as to posting.. I am sorry but the crunch is on as far as getting my shop ready.. One thing gets finished to discover a few dozen more things on my to do list...lol.. Oh well, I am sure it will get accomplished by and by with the Lord's help...
We had a Keepers of the Home Meeting on this past Saturday.  It was really a good time.  I hope it blessed the girls who could make it.   It was a beautiful day here in N. B.  A perfect day for the BBQ that Carrie provided for us.. We want to thank her for that.
The day started out with all meeting at the Tim Hortons and having coffee... Value Village was right there also so we did a quick scan of that... Several of us found a few treasures.. I bought an old iron with a green handle which would make a wonderful door stop for a laundry room.. an old oil lamp and a book on herbs.  Then it was on to the Bulk Barn.  This is a wonderful store full of flours, sugars, mixes, herbs, spices, nuts, soap making fixins, candy and pour your own peanut butters, honey and syrup..There is much more...
You have to be careful with how much you put in you bag because it can really add up.. I have found out the hard way to weigh and price my macadamia nuts for instance.. Sixteen dollars is a wee bit too much to pay for an ingredient for a batch of cookies...lol..
We then gathered at Carrie's beautiful home to learn about some mix recipes  with the bulk barn purchases..
There were dressing mixes that were delicious... Country Home-Style , Caesar and French that would be great to have in your pantry ready to mix up for salads this summer..We also made a salad seasoning mix that made a wonderful dip and could be used on toasted french bread, baked potatoes, pasta and veg salads.. I think the dip was a hit!  We tried it right away with corn chips..
Here is a fruit dip mix that we also made.... the girls liked the strawberries best I think..lol..
I will give you the recipe as it is very different..

Gingered Fruit Dip Mix
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
3 Tablespoons candied ginger finely chopped
Mix these ingredients together and cream with 8 oz. cream cheese..
It is good to use a whisk or beaters..
This makes 2 bowls of dip...
After all of this learning we needed to have a bit of fun..It was a beautiful day to be on the deck and have some great fellowship together..
Some of us didn't mind having our pic taken...lol..
Anyway, ladies if any of you would like some of these recipes please just email me and I can forward them to you...Anyone who reads the blog are welcome to them... You don't have to be one of the Keepers group... We love to share...
We also learned from Linsay a great mix that she uses often for pancakes, pudding, coffeecake and more...
And a Spanish Rice one that you put in a mason jar.. You can use 3 ways and it comes in handy if you need a quick gift for someone...
Well, I guess that is all for tonight.. Next month we will be having our third annual sleep-over here in the cottage in St. Martins... We have a blast and everyone looks forward to it.. During the year the meetings are a bit more serious but in the summer we try to have a few fun outings...
So good night my dears... I will be praying for you and your lovely families... Please keep me and mine in your prayers too...
Hugs..
Faye.
