At the Cottage...

Hello everyone..
How are you all doing?
We woke up to a rainy day here at the cottage ...
This is what I saw at the end of our street when I went for a little walk ...

They are out there waiting for tide to come in so that they can get back into the harbour..

I expect they are making their breakfast..
I wonder what they are having...
Lobster rolls???
I think not.. smile..

A couple more a little further down ..
My cousin who goes out fishing quite often says that they either nap or make a big breakfast while they wait..
Lobster season will soon be over, I expect..

As you probably noticed I am not blogging like I should..

We have been trying to clean out a lot of stuff here as we settle back in.. That effort takes time and energy which I don't seem to have a lot of lately.. smile..
Our sweet grandsons came out and gave us a hand the other day..
Grandpa and I sure appreciated it..

Anyway..
Because of going back and forth to home and such I have not been on the computer much..
This afternoon I was on the phone to an old friend and I said that I didn't have many pics for putting on a post..
She told me to just pick up my camera and go around the house and then POST.. grin..
So... Dawn....
Here are some quick pics around the old cottage...
You can see for yourself on Friday, Lord willing.. grin..

Just a few little spots here about the place..
Today was rainy as I said and whenever I took a break I looked at some of this stuff on our old trunk coffee table..

It was kind of fun to find some magazines and cookbooks that I found while trying to clear the place...

Have you read the version of the New Testament called The Message..
Very interesting..

Did I show you how I covered one of my favorite poetry books last year?

Make a cover with some gift wrap and glue an old photo on the front..
I love this book and it was getting a bit tattered and torn...

Just needed some tape and such to keep it together..
I marked some of my favorite poem pages on the front.. smile..

Well, I guess it is time for a pot of tea..
The sun has come out this evening and it is beautiful now..
Tomorrow is to be sunny and bright..
Goody...

Take care dear hearts and sorry for the pathetic post but it is all I have..
May God bless and keep you..
Hugs..

This week in my kitchen..

Hello everyone..
Hope you all can join us for the blog hop over at

We have had a busy week trying to get moved down to our cottage by the Bay of Fundy for the Summer months..
I am sorry that my pics are a bit scarce.. smile..

Above is looking out my kitchen window at the apple tree all in blossom here at the cottage ..
As you know our Spring and Summer are a bit behind most of the world.. grin..
With our cool temps we are still enjoying the homemade bread...
No Knead, of course.. smile..

And making use of the whole chicken with some lovely soup...

I have discovered Bok Choy find it a delicious change it in our soups..

An old shelf on the cottage wall ...

One of our favorite salads..

Mushroom and Garlic..
Put a couple of cloves of garlic and a pinch of salt in your mortar and pestle .Squash it all about..Add 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice and then with a whisk slowly add 1/2 cup of good olive oil..
Slice a package of mushrooms into a bowl and add a 1/2 cup of chopped red or Spanish onion ..
If you are making a big salad just double the dressing..
Pour over your dressing and add some chopped herbs..
Let it sit for a few hours to blend flavors..

Juice making..
Making our weekly ration of homemade high bush cranberry juice..
The bags of berries are getting depleted and they won't be ready again until Fall..
We will do up twice as many as we enjoyed it so much this past Winter..

We still have lots of rhubarb so next week when we get more settled I hope to make some Rhubarb Cordial..

Pork Chops, again...

Terry loves his chops..
And I love my Spanish Rice so we kind of repeated last week's menu but changed the rice around..

Oatmeal Chocolate Cake..

An old standby that quenches the crave for chocolate..
Each day I find myself snapping a picture or two in the kitchen - a pile of ingredients, a table waiting for us to gather around, a sink full of soapy dishes, a cup of tea, dinner as it comes out of the oven - simple, everyday moments in the kitchen. These photos serve as a reminder of days gone by and as encouragement to carry on in this busy kitchen of ours when inspiration is lacking.

Thanks for dropping by and if you have any questions I will hopefully eventually get to you..

Getting moved down here takes a few trips back home where the Internet has been moved from there to here.. smile..
Thanks for your patience..

God bless..

Our Canadian Heroes...

May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with the precious families of our fallen heroes today...
Praying for God's peace and comfort to cover them..
May they have strength for tomorrow and in their lonely hours may His comfort sustain them..
So thankful for their sacrifice.

This Sad Day...

Hello my dears..
Hope you all had a blessed weekend..
We had a lovely one..

As most of you probably know New Brunswick last week was a very sad and scary place to be..
We are a very small and quiet spot of Canada and when we had 5 Royal Canadian Mounted Police shot and 3 killed it made us all reflect on how blessed we have actually been..
Moncton is only a few minutes from us and my Mom was in the locked down area and couldn't leave her home..
The poor dear was scared as you can well imagine..

Today is the funeral for the 3 fallen heroes and our hearts go out to their precious families.. We are praying for comfort and peace on this sad day..
May God bless them and heal them..
Please pray for the City of Moncton and the rest of  New Brunswick this day..
Thank you so much..

The pictures above are just of our drive back to our old farm and down to the cottage..
We will soon be back in St. Martins..
It was hot here yesterday and I wanted to be there.. smile.

Please take care and thanks so much for your visits..
Looking forward to hearing from you again..
God bless and keep..
