Christmas for two..

Merry Christmas Evening, my dears..

It was just the two of us today..
The very first time in 42 years..

But..
On Saturday there will be 17 of us so we are just relaxing today and waiting for them all to get here.. smile..

Just a few pics to share with you all..

Waking up early (can't help myself)..
Putting on the coffee pot and having a little talk with my Lord..
Thinking of the Christmas mornings when the kids and I would wait for their dear Dad to get the fire going in the fireplace..

Then the day would begin..
Much quieter today...

A lovely breakfast of home fries, eggs and toast and jam.. Then making a loaf of bread and putting a big organic chicken in the oven..
Turkey gets to wait until Saturday..

Poor hubby has the flu or we would have gone to Shonda's ..
He rested and kept calling out for the nitro... grin.
Making fun of me because of a fave commercial on the TV..
It's NyQuil, Terry... Honestly... grin..

A lovely late dinner and several lovely cups of tea and a sweetie on the vintage plates I found...

Thinking of you all and your dear families ..
From here to New York, Wisconsin, Texas and all over..

Now the lights are on..
The fire is flickering and my mind goes back..
To my wonderful Dad who loved Christmas so much and to Christmas days past when the kids were all home..
Such lovely memories..
Thank you, Jesus...

Time flies by sweet mamas..
Someday you will be sitting and remembering, too..
Make good memories..
They make so much worth while..

Sweet dreams...
xoxo

  4. Oh, I envy you the snow. Last night, the weather report said 100% chance of snow. Today, nothing. Go figure.

I'm sick today, so my mom in law couldn't come over. She's susceptible to getting sick easily. My grown son came home and brought a friend who was alone. So it was just hubby, our 4 kids, our friend, and me. And it was perfect.

Blessings to you from Harvest Lane Cottage. I do hope everything is just perfect for your holiday this weekend. I pray to God that your hubby will be all well by then and you will remain well.

  20. We had a quiet Christmas with 3 of us for awhile then Megan went to work and my Phil took my mom, who lives in a nursing, her gift. I didn't go as I've got a wretched cold bug. Had a little fever the prior night and Christmas day...part of. Sigh! Glad that Christmas eve day went well the son and wife and their adorable grandchildren were here. So fun to watch them open gifts. I remember when my children were young and fun and loving the memories that gives as time goes by. My niece, who was on facebook, remembered Christmas long ago and their memories and had my name attached. So messaged her and gave her some happy thoughts....she's the same as our daughter....just 6 weeks older. Am feeling better, did go to work today and hope to sleep much better tonight! Hugs and happiness~!
