Saying Good bye and Hello ...

Hello my dears..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth today..
Hope you are all having an awesome weekend..
Here it is almost mid August..
Can you believe it?

We had Supper outside again tonight..
That is one of my favorite Summer simple pleasures, I think.. smile..

We have had a lovely but busy week..

Some sweet old friends have been camping here in St. Matins this week so have had a few fun times with them along with keeping the shop open most days..

At the first of the week our daughter, Shonda and her family finally got moved to their new home...

Here she is last Thanksgiving saying good bye to us at her home then..
But this is the new one..

Not a very good pic, I am afraid but you can see it is totally different from the one they have just left..

We dropped by there to pick up a couple of things that Shonda had given me and her Dad walked down to the boys camp..
Can you see him down there by the trees..

I must admit that there was a tear in my eye as I stood there and watched the sweet family of Canadian Geese that have returned here for several years..

As I remembered the many beautiful times we as the Henry family have shared at this lovely place along with David's family, too..

We have watched our grandsons grow from wee boys to now being teenagers..

We celebrated several Family Days here with the pool and then Christmas and Thanksgivings..
Birthdays and just happy times..

As I stood there with the wind blowing off the lake and the drizzle of rain I prayed for the new family that would be moving in..
That God would bless them with love and joy and give them many happy memories that we have all shared in this dear house...

We thought we would drop by her new one and were surprised to find Trevor and his family visiting, too..

When we left I snapped this one through the rainy windshield..
They are in there making more happy memories ...
I am sure this will be a place of joy, also..

They have many different views of this lovely river and Shonda will soon have it all organized and beautiful..

When she does I will show you a few pics of inside..

We thank our Lord for all the blessings on our family and for each home of our 3 children that God will bless and keep them..
That each grandchild will be taught that God is the most important facet of their lives and that He brings joy and peace into a home..

Well, sweet ladies this is about all for tonight..

This is what we had for supper..

The days of enjoying the BBQ will soon be over so I keep it humming.. grin..
We seem to eat a lot of chicken and potatoes and salad, eh?
I think I need to get a new menu..

Thank you so much for visiting and your sweet sweet notes..
I so enjoy them all..

Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow..
We are having a little day cation and going to
Life at the Lakes..

I will tell you all about it next time, Lord willing..

God bless...

Talking about families....

Hello everyone..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight..

We have had a lovely day here ..
Terry has been working away on our deck..
I will be so excited to get it all redone..
Then I will hopefully do my Keepers homework.. smile..

I thought I would just chat about something that has been on my mind ..

I was thinking about Easter and the lovely time we all had together here and I remembered that I had not mentioned a sort of ritual that my Mom and I have.

You might find it interesting.. smile...

As you all know my Mom is still with us and a going concern.. She may be slowing down a bit but still very vital and interesting..
She loves people and she loves the Lord and her family..
Mom and my Step-Dad came  to the Easter dinner...

They had a wonderful time with everyone especially the grandchildren... They both love them and my Step Father has been around quite some time now and not a stranger..

As I was saying Mom and I have a ritual..

The day after our family dinner we will call each other on the phone and the first words are about the wonderful day we all had together..
We then talk about the grand kids and how they are all growing so much..
She likes to tell me some of the things the kids say to her..
We talk about how well the five grandsons get along so well and how they all love their uncles and Sammi. (the dog)..
And we mention how well the kids and their spouses look and as always she talks about how tasty the dinner was and could she have my recipe for the salad..

It is always positive and funny...

And if there is a little annoying factor about the day we can talk about it because it is always forgiven and forgotten..
Why?
 Because they are OUR family...
Hers and Dad's and Terry's and mine...

We love them and we have looked after them and we pray daily for them...
And if there is anyone else in this world that I can share stuff about my family with it is my Mom...
Because they are hers, too... And she will understand the same way I do...
No, they are not perfect.. No family is except to our own eyes...

You can be sure that before the conversation is over my Mom will mention how my Dad would have loved the kids and how someone reminds her of him and how we miss him...

FAMILIES..

Just like this picture of old dishes...

All lovely.. All different..
But when blended together they make a beautiful picture..

I am just so thankful to still have my Mom and to enjoy this little ritual together.. And I thank God for my wonderful family...

Thank you so much for your sweet visits and comments..
I know...
I get a bit sentimental at times but  you can just blame it on my cold or some other silly thing..

Probably because  I am lonesome for a few days after they all go home...

God bless...
