Talking about families....

Hello everyone..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight..

We have had a lovely day here ..
Terry has been working away on our deck..
I will be so excited to get it all redone..
Then I will hopefully do my Keepers homework.. smile..

I thought I would just chat about something that has been on my mind ..

I was thinking about Easter and the lovely time we all had together here and I remembered that I had not mentioned a sort of ritual that my Mom and I have.

You might find it interesting.. smile...

As you all know my Mom is still with us and a going concern.. She may be slowing down a bit but still very vital and interesting..
She loves people and she loves the Lord and her family..
Mom and my Step-Dad came  to the Easter dinner...

They had a wonderful time with everyone especially the grandchildren... They both love them and my Step Father has been around quite some time now and not a stranger..

As I was saying Mom and I have a ritual..

The day after our family dinner we will call each other on the phone and the first words are about the wonderful day we all had together..
We then talk about the grand kids and how they are all growing so much..
She likes to tell me some of the things the kids say to her..
We talk about how well the five grandsons get along so well and how they all love their uncles and Sammi. (the dog)..
And we mention how well the kids and their spouses look and as always she talks about how tasty the dinner was and could she have my recipe for the salad..

It is always positive and funny...

And if there is a little annoying factor about the day we can talk about it because it is always forgiven and forgotten..
Why?
 Because they are OUR family...
Hers and Dad's and Terry's and mine...

We love them and we have looked after them and we pray daily for them...
And if there is anyone else in this world that I can share stuff about my family with it is my Mom...
Because they are hers, too... And she will understand the same way I do...
No, they are not perfect.. No family is except to our own eyes...

You can be sure that before the conversation is over my Mom will mention how my Dad would have loved the kids and how someone reminds her of him and how we miss him...

FAMILIES..

Just like this picture of old dishes...

All lovely.. All different..
But when blended together they make a beautiful picture..

I am just so thankful to still have my Mom and to enjoy this little ritual together.. And I thank God for my wonderful family...

Thank you so much for your sweet visits and comments..
I know...
I get a bit sentimental at times but  you can just blame it on my cold or some other silly thing..

Probably because  I am lonesome for a few days after they all go home...

God bless...

  4. I know just what you are talking about when you say you can talk it all over with your Mom. That was the way it was with my mother, too. You are so blessed to have your wonderful mother, Faye. I know you know it! Mother's Day is coming up and I would give anything to have my darling, wonderful Mother here with me and our family.

Oh...how I love to look at all of your beautiful things in your china cupboard! That syrup pitcher is pretty and so nice. Everything is.

    Working on my "homework". Fun!

  7. Thanks, Faye, for sharing such sweet sentiment with us.
Mothers are so...special. My mother can no longer hear
well enough to visit as we once did. But I still love
just sitting next to her and letting her know how
important she is to me still.

  9. Morning Faye,
Even though you were talking about your family I think we all can relate to your thoughts - how beautiful and you put it into words so beautifully too.
I'm so glad for you that you still have your mother - how special. I was 24 when my mother passed away...she was only 49...I miss her but never had the one on one with her as we were both young and I was busy with my little family - it's only after you grow older and realize how much your mother has put into who you are....you are so blessed.

Now may I say if your SYRYP JAR goes missing you can track it to my home...I just started finding them...I have Two and they need to have the Pewter tops...YOURS IS JUST GORGEOUS!

Thanks for sharing with us again...

  12. Yes a Mom is special. I certainly miss mine, and altho' she was 92 and could barely speak towards the end, I am now missing ALL the things I remember...times, and chats just like the ones you have shared today, dear Faye.
I'm not surprised that your happy family gathering has moved you so !- It is the best thing in the world! Glad it all went so well.
    Hugs,
