A snowy blowy kinda day....

Good Evening my dears..
Winter has finally arrived in all it's glory here in Eastern Canada..

It is nice, really to be back to normal, I think..

Canada without snow storms and cold weather just does not feel right somehow.. smile..

Over the weekend we received about 30 cm. here in Eastern
New Brunswick..
Most churches in the southeastern part was cancelled yesterday morning but we had service last evening..

Sunday without church is not normal, either... smile..

These pics were taken this morning...

Beautiful, eh!

The sun was shining so lovely...

It seems so nice and still ...

And very cold.....
-22 degrees C.

The wood fires are burning..
Notice the smoke coming from  the chimney over on Main Street..

We had to go to the city later this morning..
Our snow blower broke and Terry had to buy a part to fix it ...

The winds had picked up and were blowing like crazy...

The fields looked like they were full of  waves billowing towards the shore ...

We stopped into Moms for a few minutes and they had a huge flock of seagulls drop by for a visit.. smile..

My step father loves birds of any kind...
He feeds crows, peasants and ducks all year round...

Mom gave me the dearest present while we were there...
It was in her little den and I said how much I liked it..
She told me that I could not have it right now.. smile..
We laughed about it and sat and had a lovely cup of tea and a piece of her homemade apple pie..
Mom always has pie made...
After Gerald had shown us the puzzle he had finished we thought we had better head for home..

It was so cold ... brrrr....

We were in the car and ready to leave when she comes out on the step and says to wait a minute...
Out they come with THE PRESENT  and told me to take it home...
Wasn't that sweet!!
Tomorrow when I get it put  in the right spot  I will try and take a pic to show you all.. OK?

We came home and Terry got the fire going good and I made
SUPPER... (CLICK FOR RECIPE)
So good on a cold Winter's night..

Now he is having a snooze while I chat with you all..
Thank you dearies for stopping by and visiting...

I enjoy your company and so look forward to hearing from you..

Take good care of yourselves and your dear families..
Love to you all..

Looking out my window at Nature's joke....

Good Evening .... It is April the first which some call April Fool's Day.  Well, I guess the joke is on us here in the Maritimes.. We are having quite a storm and they are calling for 30 cm. before it is over... Spring is here, though... smile...
I thought I would show you all how it looks out of our windows here late this afternoon and how my plants are doing...

My geraniums are waiting and thriving even though it is not time to put them out yet...Pretty soon...

The pots of ivy have also made it through the Winter.  When we go to the cottage they hang in the front window...

The Spanish Lavender, though is questionable..  I am not sure if it will regain once it is back outside or not... I hope so.   I left some in the earth down at the cottage and I am hoping they will make it through... Time will tell..

Matilda just came in with the eggs....smile...
Actually, this is a dear little doll that Terry bought me.

Looking through a bedroom window at the front of the house..

And out another bedroom window... The old amish wagon is covered with snow...

I wonder where all the birdies have gone...
They sure have emptied their feeders today...

Thank you for dropping by ..
What is the weather like in your part of the world?
Hope you are enjoying your Spring and that Nature did not surprise you all, too..

Have a God blessed weekend and if you have time please leave a word or two...

Love to you all...

A frugal project and a "GET TO KNOW YOU" quiz....

                                                  Hello my dears...
This is looking out my sewing room window this past weekend.. We had MORE  snow...

Oh well... that is great thing about Winter..lots of snow...
I thought I would show you a little project that only took a little over an hour to accomplish..
I had picked up an old linen tablecloth at a thrift store and decided that I would use it for something other than what it was purposed for...
Actually, my Mom has done this for years..
She says that there is really not anything as lovely as linen for drying dishes.
Anyway... I decided to use her idea and make up a few tea towels..
16 of them actually from one large tablecloth...
Here is all you do...
Divide the tablecloth into half and rip as you go...Then keep on halving and ripping and so on until the tablecloth is used up...

It will vary how many you get depending on the size of your cloth..
Then...
Double up a quarter of an inch seam on all sides...
Some girls would press these sides and all but they are only tea towels so I just turned as I went.. EASY...
Actually, some sides are already finished for you...
VOILA....

Sixteen tea towels for the grand total of $4.00...
Can't beat that even if you figure in your time..
I ironed them  just for you all....lol...
I expect that the next time they go through the washer and dryer they will just be folded..lol..

Now.... for a little fun..
I was over visiting Linda and she had this little quiz going on so that she could get to know her visitors a little more...
She thought that perhaps we would also like to do it on our blogs.  And as I thought it was a lovely way to get to know you all I decided to do it also..
I hope you will enjoy the quiz as it is very simple
You can copy and paste the questions or just number from
1  -  5 on the comment section and put down your answers...

1. Would you rather be knitting, crocheting, hand stitching doing embroidery, sewing using your sewing machine or all of the above?

2. Do you have any kind of crafty or sewing thing that you are working on now?

3. Do you like to cook from scratch or do you use prepared food?

4. Will you have a garden this next summer......what will you grow and will you start your own seeds?

5. Do you live in the city or on a farm which would you rather if you could?

1.  I love sewing with my machine and then finishing up my projects with hand sewing and / or embroidery..
2.  I have a couple of prim dolls on the go along with some cushions and a bit of crochet...
3.  I love cooking and usually it is from scratch...
4.  I look forward to having a couple of herb beds for making homemade salves, mixes, etc. and Terry does the veggie garden.  My favorites are cukes, green beans, garlic, and tomatoes...
5.  We live in a small village in Eastern Canada but if we were younger we would like to farm on the side... I think.... Although, we do have an old homestead that we visit as often as we can... (It is not the same as actually farming the land, of course)..

Well, thank you so much my dears for stopping by.. I hope you will try answering this wee quiz ..I know that there are not as many followers on The Blessed Hearth yet but I am thankful for all that are.  I want to welcome all the new ones.   It will be nice getting to know you all a bit better...
Take care and may God bless and keep you all...
