Beach Thyme..

Good Evening everyone..
What a lovely day here in New Brunswick..
Nice and warm but with a fresh breeze off of the Bay made for a delightful day..

We had some precious company over the last two days..
Yesterday our youngest son and family came and stayed overnite..

Such welcome visitors to our little shop and then it was just so hot and no one was dropping by that I put the closed sign up and headed to the beach with the rest of them..

Everyone had a blast and enjoyed our cold water..
The Bay of Fundy is famous for it's low temps but they all adjusted very well and so enjoyed their yacht.. grin..

Gramps held a long rope with the dogs and it kept me laughing just watching him..

Then this morning our oldest son and family came down and stopped by the shop and signed the guest book..
After awhile I closed up again and came home and had a wonderful BBQ dinner that they brought..

They certainly started our week off great..
I find it hard to sit at the shop when my family are here so as it is just a summer job I try to enjoy a day here and there..

That is why my hours are ..
Open by chance or appointment..
smile..

I hope everyone understands and will let me know if I can open for them.. I don't mind at all..

Next week is Old Home Week and I hope to be open from 10-5 each day..
We have a bunch of old furniture that we are putting in the new room even though it is not crack filled..
Hopefully, I can cover some of it and we will finish the room when we can..

Just so much to do here and so little time to do it, eh?
Grin..

Tonight after they had all left we sat on the deck and ate pasta..
The wind was blowing and it was beautiful but I miss my kids..
They will be back soon, though, I hope..

Thanks for your sweet visit and hope to hear from you all..
Enjoy your Summer and God bless..

Thanks to you who liked the House of Henry on Face book..
Blessings..

Country Views...

Good day everyone..
Another beautiful day here in Maritime Canada..

It was hot elsewhere but here by the bay there were lovely breezes that blew in lots of customers..
Thank you, dear Lord.. smile..

Just posting a few pics of a country drive that Terry and I took a few days ago..
Summer is so beautiful, eh?
There were horses and even some elk that we spied along the way..

So many people dropped by the shop today..
Friends that we had not seen for ages..
One couple have moved back to New Brunswick from Wisconsin and it was so nice to see them and their sweet family..

Then a lovely coupe stopped by with our pastor and his sweet wife..
It was so nice to see them as we have been missing them ..

Pretty soon we will be looking toward packing up and heading home..

The summer is passing very quickly..
But meanwhile I just putter along in my shop..

I put up a Facebook page today for the House of Henry..
I was scared half to death as I do not do Facebook except for the bare necessities..
The link is HERE if you would like to see..

Thanks for dropping by sweeties and I look forward to hearing from you all..
Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow..
Hugs..

Just Simply Summer..

Good Evening to you all..
Another Summer's day is almost over..
I hope you are well and taking care of yourselves..

We are enjoying being here in our old cottage this season.

Terry has been busy putting on a new roof as I wile away my time at the shop making a few prim things..
Waiting for customers to drop by..

So enjoyed some dear people from Quebec ..
We got to chatting and I found out after I had sold them homemade preserves and gave them a bit of advice about homemade bread that he is a chef..
Not just a chef but worked for one of the finalists of the Top Chef Canada show..
Oh, mercy...
I wanted to take the preserves back.. grin..
They were so nice..
That is what I enjoy most about a little tourist shop..
Meeting people.. smile.

After supper we take our little nightly drives or spend time with friends..

Today our sweet friends Pam and Mel came by..
We went to the caves for our supper and it was lovely.
Friends are such blessings, eh?

The cottage is pretty cozy as evening settles down around the Bay.
There is always a good book to be had and perhaps a bit of olive GREEN OLIVE TAPENADE with crackers for a treat..
(I used basil instead of cilantro... )

Or maybe a wee walk to the beach..
Love hearing the waves when I go to sleep but right now the tide is way out until after midnight..
But in a bit it will be coming in at ten or so again.. smile

Our oldest son and grandsons are heading to New Hampshire for the Nascar race this weekend..

Such busy times..

Well, dear hearts I pray you have a wonderful weekend..
Thanks for dropping by and leaving your little notes..

Talk to you soon..
Hugs..

Summer Days....

Good Evening  my dears..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight..
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
We sure had a hot one for us ..

Our little village was full of people trying to get cooled off.. smile..
There were so many people that there were not any place left to park down by the caves..
I have never seen so many..
So many bikers went past my shop..
Dozens at a time, actually..
I hope they got cooled off..

Our son called from up home and said it was terrible..
He was working and had to go buy an air conditioner so he could sleep..
Poor kid..
Then the other son said everyone was almost sick as it was so hot..
When it comes to heat a lot of us Maritimers just can't take it..
You Texans probably think we are a bunch of wimps...grin...

My hubby picked a bunch of strawberries on Friday so over the weekend we did up 7 batches of jam which was 49 jars..

I was so glad to get that job done.. Believe me..
Thank God our old cottage stays cool downstairs..

I picked a bunch of herbs and roses to make my moisturizing ointment..
Comfrey, lavender, plantain, and roses...

Sunday morning we went to church in St. John and had a wonderful service..
We had a chance to say good bye to our grandsons who were going to Youth Camp with their cousin (another of our grandsons) and his friend..
Praying they will have a blast but also that they will be inspired to draw closer to God..

On our way home we had to stop for this..
Isn't that the sweetest thing?
My, I love ducks...

Today was cooler so I cooked a turkey supper..
They were on sale and I find it is so nice to have the leftovers in the fridge..
We have a lot of company here and turkey is so versatile for meals..

A soup is probably going to be made tomorrow..
It is going to be another cool and rainy day..

This is the strawberry rhubarb crisp I made for dessert..

It turned out lovely although I used splenda for some of it..
I used this recipe HERE..
For the fruit I used a mixture of both fruits and added at least a half cup of splenda to the fruit as rhubarb is sour..
It is a wonderful fast dessert..
Serve it with vanilla ice cream.. mmmmmm..
Terry loved it of course..

I hope you all are enjoying your summer days and thanks so much for your sweet comments..
I read each one although I have not been too good at responding as I seem to be busy.. So sorry..
Please forgive me..

I shall try to do better..

God bless..

These days..

Hello everyone..
Hope you are all having a great weekend..
We have been having some lovely hot weather the last few days.
So nice as it really feels like Summer has arrived..
There are so many lovely things that I love about this season..
Don't you?
So long as it is not too hot, of course..
Rain is once again in the forecast for the first of the week so we need to enjoy while we have it, I think..

Just sharing a few pics with you tonight..
I don't seem to be doing very well blogging lately..
I think everyone is too busy to be bothering reading this stuff but anyway here I am now and then..
I love my little work area at the shop..
It has turned out lovely..
I can still interact with the customers and putter away..
These are some primitive homespun buntings that I made this past week..

And this is my first big purchase that some dear girl bought..
With the rain it has not been busy at all and so am very glad when the sun comes out..

She loved the olde stuff.. smile..

Then here are some Foot Soaks and Hand Scrubs..

All made and packaged..

I have so many old torn and tattered embroidery pieces and decided to put them to a different use..

Some modge podge and later when they dry a bit of ink on the edges..
And to and from marked on the backs..
I packaged them in cello bags and tied with ribbons..

Tonight there was a lovely wedding on the beach..

The bride's Mom emailed me and wondered if they could take some pics in front of our old barn..

I took a couple of pics of them when they were back on the street..

It was a burlap and lace style of wedding..
The girls wore cowboy boots and it was very casual..
The bride was beautiful..

I pray that God will bless this marriage..
With happiness and joy down through the years..
That it will sustain and be solid..

Tomorrow is the Lord's Day..

Please pray for the dear people in the small town in Quebec where there has been huge explosions due to a train derailment..

It seems that there is just one disaster after another in our world..
Lives are being lost and families are crying out for help..
The weather is setting records everyday and nothing is as it was..
Our country needs to turn back to God ..

The Bible talks about the last days in
 Luke 21:25 NIV
There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars.. On the earth nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken..

There are many scriptures describing our world today and warning that the Lord will be returning for his people..

In Matthew 24: 42-44TLB
So be prepared, for you don't know what day your Lord is coming.. Just as a man can prevent trouble from the thieves by keeping watch for them, so you can avoid trouble by always being ready for My unannounced return..

The Bible tells us how to be prepared to meet our God..

In Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God..

Then in Acts 2:38 Peter condensed it all in one verse..
Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost..

If you don't know Him tonight please don't wait..
He is coming soon..

It is wonderful to live with peace in your heart knowing that He is in control...

Our families need Jesus to steer and direct their lives..
We can lean on Him in these difficult days..

My heart is heavy tonight for this old world that needs God and are living in fear..

Trust Him tonight with your heart and He will be faithful..
Remember He is as close as the mention of His Name..
He is right there beside you and waiting for you to call on Him..
He loves this world...And He loves you and me..

So once again I have opened up my heart to you..

Praying for you..

Rhubarb Cocktail recipe from Nova Scotia..

Good Evening my dears..
How are you all..
So glad you dropped by for a wee visit..

Wondering what the weather is like in your part of the world..
We have been having rain and more rain..
I must say though that it is better then extreme heat any day to me..
I wore a sweater all day and have the heat on now..
A couple of hours away the temps are very hot..
Weird, eh!

The pic of the barn above was taken through the rainy windshield while I was waiting for Mr. Henry.. smile..

Anyway, on with the show..
Today after I came home after the shop closed and cut some rhubarb..

We still have quite a bit and I wanted to make my lemon drink from last year posted  HERE.
I did not have enough lemons so decided to make a rhubarb one instead..

Here is the recipe..
It is from Nova Scotia and is called..

Rhubarb Cocktail..
2 1/2 pounds of rhubarb
A couple of pieces of lemon peel
A small piece of peeled ginger root
1 1/2 quarts of water..
Chop your rhubarb and wash well ..
Place in stainless steel pot and simmer away for about 25 minutes or until soft..
Strain through a couple of pieces of cheesecloth and add less then 1/4 cup of lemon juice..
Place this in a stainless or glass pot and add 1 1/2 cups of sugar..
Bring to a boil.. Let it boil for a couple of minutes..
You can place this in sterilized jars and seal..
I just put mine in a large jar and keep in the fridge like I would the lemon one..
Place about a 1/3 of your glass with the juice and top with sparkling water or even Sprite..
Lovely drink for a hot day..
If we get any that is.. smile..

Just a couple of pics from the shop..
These are flowers from my Borage Herb plant..
I am collecting them to make a salve for sleeping..
I tried to buy some but the health food store didn't have any..
My plant is all in bud so should be able to get enough..
I thought it would be interesting to make and see if it works..

Thanks to all of your good wishes for our son..
So kind of you ...

Our daughter and family will be flying back home from Florida this week.. smile..
I will be glad when they get back home and our pastor's daughter is coming back from Germany..
Nice when they all get back safe and sound, eh?

Well, I must go..
My computer has been acting up..
It keeps turning off and you have to restart it from scratch..
What a pain..
We need to take it in but I am not sure when that will be..
So.. please bear with me and I will do what I can..
OK?

Welcome to the new followers..
So glad to have you join the site..

My sweet friend over at OAKVIEW COTTAGE did a little post about the Blessed Hearth and I think that is where the latest followers came from..
Thank you, Cindy for being so sweet..
I want to do a post about her blog soon..
She is a dear..

So thankful tonight for all of you lovely friends.
God has blessed me...
Hugs..
