Keepers by the Sea Over Niter....

Hello my dears.. 

How are you all doing?

Friday night we did indeed have our Keepers by the Sea Over Niter.. 

Several could not make it but we still had a great time although I must say that they were truly missed ... 

They all arrived around 6:30 pm... 

When they arrived the spaghetti sauce was simmering away.. 

The napkins had been brought out and ready for the girls to set the table..

I was disappointed that I was not able to do the things that I had planned ... 

My back decided to act up and I could hardly get around for a few days but thank the Lord it did not prevent us from getting together..

Brother...

 I am beginning to think that Terry should start finding a nice field somewhere with a gate for me... 

Or perhaps I should just close my window at nights and not let the wind and rain blow in on me when I know that old Arthur is just waiting for a chance to show up... grin...

Anyway... on with the story..

The girls were so kind and helped put together the Caesar Salad and we get the food ready in a buffet style..

We  had pasta with tomato or a new creamy basil sauce and a lentils meatloaf which they all liked..

It was a new recipe and it was a risk but having no oven and only two burners kind of taxed my imagination... smile..

There were also lovely baguettes and garlic dipping oil.. yum... 

Afterwards the dear girls generously cleaned everything up...

Terry was working away so Sammi was present.. 

A bit confused with so many ladies... 

Actually, he was a big pain.. grin... 

Then later it was dessert time... 

Some of them really enjoyed it... grin.. 

Some lovely fellowship and at 1 am this old gal tried to make it up the stairs to bed while the rest stayed up until 4:30 am..

Yup... that is late... smile.. 

They were up and about at a good time though and after chatting with our coffees for a bit we headed out to Fiories for breakfast...  

Charlene took these pics and I swiped a couple from her.. smile.. 

Later after shopping over at the House of Henry they all headed back home to their dear families... 

The Balloon Fiesta was going on in Sussex, too..

As for Sammi and I... 

We SAT and tried to get our backs back on track and wait for our sweetie to get home.. 

He had been gone most of the week.... 

Then to church the next day.. 

I will chat with you all later and tell you about a little field trip Terry and I took on Monday..

I did not add the oatmeal but replaced it with 2 slices of bread made  into crumbs and soaked with a 1/4 cup of milk.. 

And I cooked it in my slow cooker.. 

Looking it up on the web I found a great idea on how to remove it much easier  with foil handles..

It was so good to be back home again..

Good Evening everyone..

What a wild day we have had here ..

It has not rained this hard all Summer.. 

The street that we are on runs to the beach and it looked like a river.. 

The restaurant across decided to close because there was just too much rain.. 

We needed it though so that is fine.. 

I actually had a lovely day.. 

It was nice and cozy .. 

You all know me and the rain.. 

Love it... smile... 

The above pics are ones I took at home when we went for just one night.. 

It was great to be home.. 

Here at the cottage it is the Bay and waves and the shore but at home even though we live in a little village it is much more farm like as you can see..

Terry's sunflowers are so beautiful.. 

Much higher than my head as are the Poor Man's Orchid.. 

The bees are so in love with that flower.. 

I watched them practically swarming over them..

My hydrangea is also all in bloom and the dear farmer has made the hay.. 

We swap hay for organic chickens..

 Gotta love that, eh? 

Now... I am back at the cottage with more of hubby's lovely

tomatoes... 

And I am getting ready for guess what... 

Yup... 

The Keepers of the Home Overniter... 

I have the menu planned and hope to get some of the cooking done tomorrow... 

Well, dear hearts I must go to bed and listen to the rain and waves.. 

I will miss that part when I go home.. 

The moon sure made the waves high this month.. 

God's creation is so beautiful.. 

Did I mention to you before that He has the wind in his treasury.. 

I read it in the Bible and always think of that when the wind comes up... smile.. 

Before I go I would like to mention a small prayer request.. 

The little town of Sussex where we attend church lost 5 businesses and 8 families lost their homes to fire last evening.. 

A very sad event.. 

Our church stands right behind these buildings and had to be sprayed with water so it would not light.. 

Thank the Lord no one was hurt but they have lost their homes and some their livelihood...

So please say a word for these dear folks..

Happy Monday my friends.. 

This is a picture of  HOME  last year after we went back after the Summer here at the cottage..

Can you believe I have only been there twice (I think) since we came down in June.. Perhaps three times... I am not sure.. 

Anyway, it has been awhile.. 

Tonight ... 

I am going home for the night.. 

One night only.. smile.. 

Terry has to go and get something but we will be back down in the morning as I have to prepare for...

THE KEEPERS OVERNITER.. 

I am so looking forward to it.. 

We had hoped to have it sooner but I had a bad cold and it has been a very busy Summer .. 

It will be different having it this late in the year but I am sure we will be blessed with a lovely time.. 

I need to go now as I have some Rustic Blueberry Sauce in the making for the Cheesecake we hopefully will be having for dessert..

A Saturday night Mish Mash...

Hello my dears.. 

Just a few pics for you tonight.. 

I am still in  a pickle as you can see... smile.. 

Making things for the Art in the Park show tomorrow.. 

They wanted my preserves and such.. 

I decided to do a few recycled dish cloths ( the how to is HERE)  and some journals and other stuff..

I was telling Terry that I now feel justified for buying my UK Country Living mags and a few others.. 

I just use one of the pages for my journals and that pays for my habit.. grin.. 

I really do not buy very many any more but I do love the British ones.. 

I put a pic of a recipe for you ... 

This came from one of those old books and as you can see I sliced some up and tried them.. 

They are delicious.. 

A bottle is almost depleted after only one day.. grin..

A wee birthday story....

Good Evening sweet friends.. 

Thank you for dropping by the Blessed Hearth today.. 

This is a special day in our life.. 

Terry and I were blessed to have this day for our eldest child's birthday... 

You all know our lovely daughter.. 

Shonda Lynn... 

She was born to two very young parents who did not have much knowledge in the raising of a dear little girl.. 

But... she survived.. grin..

She also has two brothers who love her.. 

And her own dear family.... 

A husband who adores her and two sweet lads.. 

God has been good...  

Happy Birthday dear child... 

I want to tell you a sweet little story, too.. 

See this little garden.. 

I planted it in an old wheel barrel in June when we came down for the Summer.. 

It already had chives but I planted the pineapple mint, rosemary, stevia and the little yellow rose plant.. 

Shonda gave me the rose for Mother's Day.. 

It was in a wee pot and didn't do too well.. 

So... 

I brought it down here and planted it in with the rest.. 

Today... it bloomed... 

Isn't that sweet? 

It was almost out yesterday but waited until today to really blossom.. smile...

Just a little blessing from the Lord  along with all the precious things He does for us in the run of a day..smile.. 

While I was at the shop today I wrapped up one of 

Shonda's gifts..

Just used a page from an old book..

A Summer Day..

This is just a little thought for her that I am quite sure she will like.. 

Ah oh.... 

Now you all know how old she is..  

Don't let on I told you..grin..

Little Happenings...

Good Evening my dears... 

Did you think that I had forsaken you?  smile.. 

I had a small problem with my camera .. 

The last time I did a post I set my camera on the table beside me and proceeded to spill half of my cup of tea on it.. Yikes.. 

I shook it out and dried it the best I could but by morning it stopped working.. 

To make a long story short my dear friend Pam advised me to put it in a box or bag of rice.. 

Which I did and thank the good Lord it is now working 100%... smile...

So.. if this little accident happens to you.. 

Whether a camera or phone just pop it right away into a zip lock bag of rice ... 

It only took a couple of days...

So.. I am back... smile..

I just thought I would once again share some pics of my days.. 

Terry and I headed out early this morning for another little trip to Fredericton.. 

There was a lot of fog..

Kinda pretty, though, eh?  

And in the last few days we have been in a genuine pickle.. grin..

These are Sweet Garlic Dills.. 

Every one's favorite except for me..

I love sour pickles.. 

Oh.. remember the sour pickles I tried.. 

I LOVE them...

They do taste like Gram's...

This is the Reversing Falls Bridge in the fog early this morning..

Terry planted lots of tomatoes and brought some down over the weekend.. 

We have our garden at home.. 

There is not enough room to grow much except herbs here at the cottage..

I am trying out a new recipe that I concocted.. 

Green Tomato and Ginger Chow.. 

I hope it will work out.. 

I'll let you know in a week or so...

The ginger has to do it's work in the pickle for awhile..

More fog.

I noticed several trees whose leaves have already changed their color..sigh...

I don't want Summer to leave us yet.. smile.. 

Don't you love fresh tomatoes?

I hope to make some nice fresh tomato and basil soup maybe tomorrow.. yummy...

Except instead of using canned tomatoes I use fresh ones..

I am terrified of the moose.. 

They are huge and can demolish a car in a flash... 

These pickles are for sandwiches... 

We made some Sweet Dill ones last year for the first time and my friend Janelle's husband tried them out and loved them.. 

So... we made a bunch.... 

By the time we headed back to St. Martins the fog was pretty well cleared off..

The lovely St. John River.. 

Then it poured rain.. We could hardly see to drive.. 

Talk about change of weather.. 

All in one day... smile.. 

Terry has been craving this meal so I decided to make it ...

Again... grin..

What have you sweet ladies been up to? 

I know I am a bit boring these last few weeks with the pickle thing but Lord willing it will mostly be over this week..

I am planning on being in the Art in the Park at the Fundy Trail on Sunday.. 

It is the only show I do all year and my Mom and Step Father are coming down for the weekend to go to it, too..

I sell pickles, jams and jellies, fudge, salves, crafts and other homemade goodies.. 

It is fun...

Then next Friday night the Keepers are hopefully coming for their over niter.. Sept. 7th..

And.... then in a couple of weeks is my closing sale... Sept. 23rd..

Then homeward bound.. 

It has been a glorious Summer.. 

September in St. Martins is wonderful... 

Wind, rain, fog and huge waves..

What more could a somber weather girl ask for?  grin...
