Looking back over the day...

Good Evening everyone..
Hope everything is well with you all..
A snowy day here in Atlantic Canada..

We have been busy doing last minute chores.. Terry is cleaning up the big mess... grin...

It was a big job.. Poor guy..

I had a nice cup of coffee and a bagel for breakfast..
I thought I would share this card that I received in the mail for my birthday from a sweet friend who lives in St. Martins ( where we have our summer cottage..)

I thought it was hilarious:-)  They tease me about being an OLD hippie.. Funny, eh!!

Did you know that you can make your own cream cheese spreads for your bagels?
The one I used here is herb and garlic..
Just cream up a block of cream cheese and add a clove of crushed garlic, a tsp. of dried onion flakes and a  bit of chopped parsley..
It is delicious..  Or you can add some chopped strawberries( or pineapple, blueberries, etc.) and a tsp. or two of sugar..
Cream well..

Anyway, the rest of the day I baked... Oreo balls, pineapple squares, shortbreads and 2 batches of fudge..

Here I am putting labels on some patchouli cream that I made for my sister...
She must be an old hippie, too.. grin..
Also, finishing up some tags.. I am not a great painter but it is fun to make some homemade tags..
And the stars are cut out of clementine skins..

Just use a little cookie cutter and let them dry.. Add to potpourri or freeze them in ice cubes for your punch...

Here it is evening again, already...
The lights are lit on the mantel..

I think I will just sit back and enjoy the lights..

I enjoy the before Christmas...Do you?
Soon the lights will need to be put away...

But for now I will enjoy them..

All of our sweet kids are coming home for Boxing Day.. Lord willing..
Tomorrow, I need to make the ice cream cake and get all the beds ready...
Isn't God good?.. I really appreciate Him tonight... Just thinking over the past year and all of His goodness to us..
He has supplied us with a roof over our head, food on our table, shoes on our feet and peace in our hearts that only He can bring..

And tonight I am thankful for all of you.. You have become dear friends and a blessing in my life..
I so enjoyed all the cards and wee gifts that you sent..
Such dear girls...

Thank you for dropping by and Merry Christmas..
May the Jesus of the manger bless your hearts and lives this beautiful season..

What a cold looking picture and it certainly did take down some trees didn't it?
Hmmmm...patchouli cream - interesting. I do think patchouli is one of my favorite scents. It has such a romantic yet nostalgic aroma to me.
    Have a wonderful Christmas Faye.

  12. I love all your ideas! Those tags and orange skin stars - wow, great. I will be sharing today, Christmas Eve at my Mom's house. I have a turkey in Nesco, it smells so good - I made a frozen dessert too...we are too much alike. I'm glad I was able to find your blog this year. I so enjoy reading it. 13. Happy belated birthday to our sweet Faye!!!!!!!! Sorry I missed it!

Faye, don't you ever give up blogging! I would be lost not having some project to do or to think about! Your creative ideas are so neat and easy to do. This time, I love the clementine stars! Oh how neat!.....and fun to do. I suppose the clementine skin is thin and therefore they will dry quicker?

Anyway, you are a joy to have in my life!

  16. You've thought of everythihng! Stars from clementine peels, seriously?!... I LOVE THEM! A great way to use up the peel instead of throwing it in with vinegar to "steep" in preparation for homemade cleaner... Cuter too, I might add.

  20. Faye,

You really had me laughing at the "old hippie' comments :) :) My dad would consider himself an "old hippie" :) :....sometimes I joke and call him an establishment baby :) :) Oh, and I also say "never trust anyone over 90" :) :) That makes him laugh.

I love your Christmas tags. They're beautiful :) :) Happy CHRISTmas to you and your sweet family :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)

  22. I so love to read your posts. My mom was an "old" hippie and my dad is still! Maybe that's why I love it here at The Blessed Hearth, you remind me of my mom. I do adore that card that you got from your friend. Happy Belated Birthday :) Well, being a paper crafter, I can say that I am jealous of your tags...they are amazing. Love them!!!
