Just a little trip...

Hello my dears..

Welcome to the Blessed Hearth on this lovely Friday evening..

We have been away for a few days and had a good time..
We just went down to Bangor, Maine and then came back via the coast road..
A beautiful drive..
I love seeing how people decorate their homes..
The pic above was of a day care that I thought someone might be interested in.. smile..

We stopped by a little goat farm to see if they were selling any of their soaps but the signs were down..
The goats were adorable as always, though..

Drove down to Bucksport and saw the bridge and Fort Knox..

We did a lot of shopping..

Then before we headed home we decided to go to St. Martins to check on the heat at the cottage and leave some stuff for the shop..

I took a few pics of my poor herb beds..
The Comfrey is up and doing great..
I brought some home to make my gardener's salve ...
But the yard needs work as do the beds...

I really do have to get busy...
Yes, the panic is on..

While we were driving through the village I noticed how busy everyone was...
Mowing their lawns, cleaning and remodeling...
Getting their businesses up and ready for the season..

Then we ran into some friends who own the wonderful Bed and Breakfast up the street with the Mexican food ..
They were wondering when we were opening the shop..
Gulp..

The rooms are not even finished let alone the shop ready to open..
Oh well..
Besides my heart rate rather high and running out of paper bags for me to breathe into we are doing fine... grin..
Just kidding..
This is when I do my best work.. smile..

So..
Next week we will be there for several days trying to get caught up..

I always dread getting the phone hooked up down there as they always mess up my Internet.. Dread....
I think I will wait until we are really there ...

I did find a few lovely old and prim things while we were away.
I love the old Chicken Barn for finding some neat stuff..
Lots of antiques and books..
Two of my fave things..

We ate at some lovely places and just had fun, too..
Of course, we (Terry) did not miss the hockey games..
Little cousin (Brad Marchand) does pretty good most of the time.. smile..
Hope the Bruins win...

I made a Shepherd's Pie for supper..
Different from my usual so here is the LINK..
I did not add the cheese as we do not need it and added a bit of garlic and herb to the hamburger..
Yes, Terry loved it..

He prefers simple food and this was simple but good..
That's me..
Simple..

Well, sweet ladies that is all for tonight.

This time of year our kids start their travelling..
I know that is so nice and all but they are on my mind..
One is on his way to Old Quebec City tonight..
Praying that they get there and back safely..
At least she speaks French.. grin..

Thanks so much for your visit and I am glad you came.
Welcome to the new followers, too..
Love having you..

Take care my friends..

  1. Sounds like you had a fun trip to Maine, Faye. I was trying to remember where that big bridge is when we were down there in April and couldn't. Hopefully I'll remember next time we go as I want Murray to see it. It's quite is sight! I took lots of pics of it the first time I saw it 2 years ago. I hope you get things going at the shop soon. The tourists will be arriving soon I expect. Hopefully it will be a busy season for you all. Have a great weekend and stay dry in the storm. Hugs, Pam

    1. Hi Pam.. The bridge is in Buskcport just by Ellsworth... It is one huge bridge and a sweet little place.. One time many years ago we happened to be going up the coast and saw many many cars parked on the side near a high security home and asked and found it belonged to President Bush and he and his family were there.. Thus the cars..
Yes, as soon as school is out the tourists really start coming although most of the summer residents come earlier..
      Thanks for popping by. xo

  5. Hi! You take beautiful pictures! And the Shepherd's pie looks delicious! Can't wait to hear how you are doing opening up your shop. We have a bridge that looks like that in Delaware, the Roth Bridge, also known as the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal Bridge. I hope you kids have safe trips!

  12. I was happy to see this post, and hear about your trip :) It sounds as though you had a lovely time, and came home refreshed and ready for ~Crunch time~. I seem to work best under pressure...well, a normal pressure ;) I'll be praying for you and Terry as you prepare, transition, and all the in between. I so wish I lived closer I would bring my crew by the cottage to say Hello, and look around. But since we can't I'll enjoy the cottage from afar right here on the blog...so happy you blog :)

    Have a blessed weekend~

  14. Hi Faye, just showing your pics to my hubby, you made us a little homesick! He used to go to Fort Knox with his family as a child - that was when you could walk through the entire fort if you brought your own flashlight!
We have been over that bridge many, many times on our way to Bar Harbor..one of our favorite vacation spots. Also been to the Big Chicken Barn! Sounds like you had a wonderful time, thanks so much for sharing:)

  15. Oh Faye, I've just seen your last post with the new floors, they are just perfect! What a lovely room.
You know, the picture you posted of the dandelions and forget me nots could have been taken in our own garden, there are such similarities in our flora etc despite the distance :)
I'm sure your shop will be just wonderful once open, and it will be at just the right time. I seem to recall a similar post last year, he he he *grin* It will be fantastic Faye!
    With love, Carly xx

  18. Hello Faye :) Take your time opening the shop. I remember when I ran the B&B here in town, and keeping up with everyone's inquiries of when the teas will start again, filled me with a great deal of stress. Those kids are just darling! m.

  19. Dear Faye, What a lovely post as usual. I seen something in the Chicken barn pic that Gabriel and Genevieve would just love. The little coupe. They already have one but really they should have another if you know what I mean! Lol!

  20. Oh, Faye~ I love it when you take us along for the ride!!! (Your car must have an awfully big back seat...*grin*) I loved that first picture~ "Big chicken books and antiques"~ looks like my kind of place. And those goats laying in the sun are hilarious. Not a care in the world... :) Which is exactly how you should be about opening the shop. Just go lay out in the sun and forget about it. (Where's that brown bag, right? *haha*)

  22. Sounds like you had a fun getaway, visiting an Antique store is always fun! Your recipe sounds delicious, I may have to make that for supper, I am at a loss at to what to make otherwise and simple usually means less expensive.
    The goats are so cute!
Your idea sounds wonderful, use anything off of my blog that you like, any photos. I am going to try to do a post next week about you and your shop and pretty home.
    Love and hugs, Cindy
