Beach Thyme..

Good Evening everyone..
What a lovely day here in New Brunswick..
Nice and warm but with a fresh breeze off of the Bay made for a delightful day..

We had some precious company over the last two days..
Yesterday our youngest son and family came and stayed overnite..

Such welcome visitors to our little shop and then it was just so hot and no one was dropping by that I put the closed sign up and headed to the beach with the rest of them..

Everyone had a blast and enjoyed our cold water..
The Bay of Fundy is famous for it's low temps but they all adjusted very well and so enjoyed their yacht.. grin..

Gramps held a long rope with the dogs and it kept me laughing just watching him..

Then this morning our oldest son and family came down and stopped by the shop and signed the guest book..
After awhile I closed up again and came home and had a wonderful BBQ dinner that they brought..

They certainly started our week off great..
I find it hard to sit at the shop when my family are here so as it is just a summer job I try to enjoy a day here and there..

That is why my hours are ..
Open by chance or appointment..
smile..

I hope everyone understands and will let me know if I can open for them.. I don't mind at all..

Next week is Old Home Week and I hope to be open from 10-5 each day..
We have a bunch of old furniture that we are putting in the new room even though it is not crack filled..
Hopefully, I can cover some of it and we will finish the room when we can..

Just so much to do here and so little time to do it, eh?
Grin..

Tonight after they had all left we sat on the deck and ate pasta..
The wind was blowing and it was beautiful but I miss my kids..
They will be back soon, though, I hope..

Thanks for your sweet visit and hope to hear from you all..
Enjoy your Summer and God bless..

Thanks to you who liked the House of Henry on Face book..
Blessings..

  4. I seem to never get much done when my family is here. I spend as much time as I can with them. With jobs and their own lives to run there always seems to be so little time left to get together.

  5. I so enjoy ending each one of these beautiful NB days reading your daily posts. I always enjoy your pictures. How nice for your family to come and enjoy their day with you. It was the same kind of day here in Northern NB as well. This summers weather has been perfect so far.
I am trying my best to make it down your way this summer but not sure if it will happen. We are trying to get I. As many primitive country stores in NB as we can.
Have a wonderful evening after a great day.

  7. Hello Dear Heart, Those little fellows are so cute. I bet they had so much fun playing with the stones and the water and all. Such fun for little ones. I love being by the water. It relaxes me. I know what you mean when you say you love to hear the waves at night. Your salad with shrimp is looking so delish. What dressing do you use with it? My Jim would love that. It has been so hot here. We have spent some days at Kim's at the lake. Last Saturday my son, Tim came to the lake with his family also. I was so happy and delighted and full of emotion to have them all together with me and Jim. They are good kids and I love them so. I know you know exactly what I mean.

May the Good Lord watch over you, Terry and your whole family,
    S.

I hope all is well with you.

  10. Hi Faye...I don't blame you one bit for closing up shop when you have your family with you! I see my girls almost every day, and yet when they come, I stop what I'm doing to just be with them:) Our children are such blessings:)

When are Old Home Days beginning? Is it on Saturday, or Monday?

    Take care,
    Kim

  11. I love when the kids and grandkids come home to visit. We had everyone here yesterday... having a pool in the backyard is a big draw when it's 90 degrees out with 65% humidity!

  12. I KNOW the Bay of Fundy is cold. Brrrr. Even on a hot day I won't wade much. Kids don't seem to mind it though. They had fun on their yacht too. I hope you have lots of visitors to your shop for Old Home Week. Enjoy!

    1. Hello dear..
I don't mind at all but it is one of those a bit of this and that.. ok?

      Here goes..
Of course you put your pasta water on with lots of salt until it tastes like the sea or so the chefs all tell you.. grin..
I just buy one of those cheaper shrimp rings that are already cooked..
      Anyway..
In a frying pan I put in a few Tablespoons of olive or canola oil, a bit of hot pepper flakes, a bay leaf and some
chopped up green or red or even white onion, a chopped up fresh tomato or two, a clove or two of garlic, kosher or sea salt and freshly ground pepper..
There was no pepper on ours that night as I mislaid my pepper grinder.. daaaaa..
Anyway, let that cook very slowly while the pasta is cooking and take the tails off of the shrimp..
Halfway through I add some chicken stock.. Probably 1/2 cup..
Drain your pasta and at the last minute add your shrimp with a bit of squeezed lemon.. The heat from the pasta will heat them up and they are lovely and fresh..
Lots of chopped basil and Terry loves fresh grated parmesan cheese ...
I add lots more lemon juice.. smile..
Let me know if you enjoy this.. It is my and Shonda's fave.. xoxo
