Ending the Week..

Happy Friday Evening, everyone..

Here we are at the end of another Summer's week..

Terry and I have been busy pickling as you can see..
He brought down sixty pounds of cukes and they are finished and some are sold already..

I had fun making a new kind in the first picture..
A dear wee friend here in St. Martins grows grapes and let me have some grape leaves and another grows horseradish and gave me a few roots so I made a Deli pickles that I have wanted to try for literally years..
They look delicious and can't wait to try them..
It takes a few weeks though before they are ready..

Then we made Sweet Dill, Garlic Dill, Bread and Butter and Ginger Slices...
Hopefully, we will get more done next week..

It is also herb time and so I made a Nasturtium Vinegar.. Isn't it pretty?
It is a bit peppery, too..
Just use a good vinegar and throw in some nasturtium blossoms and a bit of hot pepper flakes..
Leave on your sill for a week or two..

The Rosemary Salt is just a jar of coarse salt with Rosemary added to the sides and throughout..
Delicious with Chicken or such..

I made some foot powders to sell at the shop..
Lavender and Peppermint..
Keeps the feet smelling sweet.. grin..

We were out to Shonda and Dave's for a lovely meal..
This view was from one of her windows..
Serene, eh?

New veggies and some lovely salmon fillet...
Her Dad's favorite.. smile..

Our grandsons do not like me putting their pics on here and usually I try not to but just look at how they are growing..
They are all turning into young men.. Already...
Where has the time gone?

I will share pics with you of her new home as soon as she gets it all organized..
A lot of window coverings to figure out.. smile..

Here is a new item added to the shelves at the shop...

Lots of enamelware..
Some of it has sold this week but it is very pretty..

Today, I realized that Summer is really drawing to an end..

My sweet cousin Dan and his family came to say good bye as they close down their Summer home and head back to Montreal for another year of teaching at the University..

I so love this sweet family and could not help but shed a tear as they pulled away...

This Summer has slipped through the cracks and is almost over..
Another Summer of memories and sweet reunions..

But you all know how I love to get back home..

I just told a friend that I am not going to whine about getting back home this year..
But just another two weeks and we will be done..

Well dearies, thanks so much for your visit and comments..
Love them all and hope you have a great weekend..

Nighty night, sweet friends..

  4. Such a sweet darling post, dear Faye. I read them and it's like getting a letter with photos from family that has been off visiting! I do so enjoy your sharing. You live in such a beautiful place. The enamelware looks like porcelain, I esp. love the one in the corner with the little bird. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  5. Faye, I so enjoyed seeing your very handsome and grown up grandsons! These are Shonda's boys, I assume. They look like very nice happy young men. I would be very proud if I were you. I know you are. The view from Shonda's house is fantastic! Is that the Bay of Funday? Your last picture is fabulous.

Faye, I know what you mean about families getting together and making memories. My sister and bother-in-law came to day to stay for 10 days. Of course, we will be going to the lake for a few days. But I am so happy to see them.

Hope you have a blessed week. Sounds like the shop did well this year. Jim would be buying your pickles if we were there. They look wonderful.

All my love to you and Terry,
    Ssusannah

  6. lots of homemade pickles...delicious. My mom used to make them when I was growing up. I've not made them. I can a bit. Need to do some jam. Tomorrow I made potato salad for our church picnic on Sunday afternoon. Also, hot dogs with beans, served with a bun. I made it last year and it was a hit. Had planned just hot dogs and buns but maybe with do the beans again this year in a crockpot. How many crock pots in the church kitchen before the breakers pop? HA! Loved your photos. And the sunset is absolutely gorgeous. Had a nice one last evening. Phil said he'd hoped we'd have one like that when I was photographing a lighthouse near sunset last Friday. But no. Sigh! Take care and enjoy the rest of your summer. It's coming to a close. We finally had a good rain last night. We needed it badly with all the wildfires here. God bless!

  7. Summer does have a way of slipping through the cracks and that makes me kind of sad but we do have many wonderful times to hold on to.
Love the views from Shonda's new home and how grown up are the boys!
    God bless

  8. Beautiful pictures! I love the sunset, so pretty. The containers for the foot powder are so pretty. I love how you did them. Where do you find them? I also love the enamelware. In the bottom picture, on the right, in the corner-I have that bowl with the lid. I have 4 of them. My aunt bought them for me years ago as a Christmas gift. We use them all the time. Enjoy your day and God bless.

  10. The pickle sure do look yummy, Faye. I only do Lady Ashburnham pickles and must make a batch this year as I didn't last and they're all gone! Your grandsons are very handsome and have their mother's smile. :) I love the flowered enamelware. It's so pretty. Summer has gone too quickly and being away for 3 weeks seemed to make it disappear. We'll have some beautiful days yet, to enjoy the sun and beauty of New Brunswick. Blessings. Pam

How do you get so much done?
All of your pickling sounds delicious.
I wish I lived near enough to buy your pretty
porcelain wares! You have some that would match
    a piece I already have.

  13. Dear Faye,
It has been a busy summer here in Cape Breton as well. As the leaves change their colours I realize I need to return to Sussex again. It is always bitter sweet to leave one home and return to another, yet it brings the hope of settling in with dear friends for the winter.
I look forward to hearing about the highlights of your summer when Lindsay and I take you out for coffee and cheesecake.
    God bless,
    Susan
