Midsummer ...

Hello everyone..
Hope you all had a great weekend..

Just sharing some pics of the last few days..
So hard to believe that August is here and Summer is half over..
It seems such a short season here in Maritime Canada..
I love this one and always try to hold onto it by the shirt tail.. grin..

I have made a few more batches of jams..
Raspberry and more strawberry ones..
Also some banana breads and a recipe I concocted for Mango Coconut muffins...
I will try and give you the recipe next time as tonight it is late and I just wanted to check in with you all..

So blessed to go home this past weekend...
I had not been home for six weeks although Terry gets there quite often..
It felt so good to be there and sleep in our water bed...smile.
And attend our own church..
Our grandsons were quite surprised when we walked in ..
We are enjoying going to church with our daughter's family, of course but there is no place like home, eh?

Terry picked me a bunch of Queen Anne's Lace in Moncton when we went in after church for dinner..
Another batch of jelly coming up tomorrow, hopefully..

We arrived back here in St. Martins about noon and I opened the shop.. About an hour later we had a huge rain storm..
My... did it ever rain and then the sun came out..
The weather is so different this year, eh?

Well, dear hearts this is all for tonight..
So glad to meet those of you who have stopped by the shop..

Just think ...
In about five or six weeks we will be going home..
I always start looking forward to that about this time of year;
when the Poor Man's Orchid comes in bloom..
They are the ones around the bird feeder..
You can only find them here in St. Martins area but I took some home a few years ago and they just pop up everywhere.. smile.

Take care and thanks so much for stopping by..
God bless...

  1. Hi Faye:

Love your pictures as always:) I agree...there's no place like home! The white flowers that your hubby is picking...is that the Queen Anne's Lace?

Take care and have a blessed week,
    Kim

  2. I love Queen Ann's Lace and it lasts a long time. Your raspberry jam looks very yummy (it's my favorite) and your birdhouse is unique. Do you get birds in it or is it for decoration?

  6. What a treat to see that beautiful field of pink across from your shop.. I just love it. and your bottles of raspberry jam. so delicious looking. Don't work too hard. It was a crazy kind of day but a nice one too. even throughout the little showers when it got sunny, those ominous clouds brought us some hail.

  7. Beautiful pictures. I guess the new camera is doing its job well. I love Queen Anne's lace, it does last forever.
I have never heard of your flowers referred to as ' old man's orchard ' I love the name. We have them here and for years and always known them as Himalayan balsam.
They fit so perfectly in with your birdhouse. Your jam looks yummy. I know what you mean about the weather, it has been the same here in northern NB as well.
Take care and I hope you have a enjoyable week at the shop.

  10. Queen Anne's Lace...one of my all-time favorite flowers.

Try sticking them in a vase of colored water - try blue, red or orange.. and see what happens over the next several days. We did this all the time as kids.
(you can try the same with daffodils... it is really pretty! and fun.)

  18. Hi Faye! Loved your beautiful summery photos today. The flowers are so pretty. We are enjoying our visit in Calgary but getting a little antsy to get back home and see how things are there. Summer is going way too fast isn't it? Enjoy every minute. Hugs, Pam

  19. The weather is very odd this year. We have had more than a year's rainfall already and it is still coming down in buckets almost daily. Your flower picture at the top is lovely. We have been away much this summer as our children are so spread out and we have been visiting. It is always good to be home even if the yard is a big mudhole from all the rain!

  21. Faye,
I LOVE Queen Anne's Lace. I am just fascinated by it, and all of the precision, order, and small tiny details that God put into its design. I have tried to dry it in the past, but it just shrivels up. Is there anyway you can preserve its delicate features? I saw your older post on making them into ornaments. Very beautiful. I would love to tuck them dried into a vase. Is that possible?

Your store is wonderful! I love the little mouse sitting on a book in your other post. He looks like a mouse that would love to read! Your framed "Peace" is beautiful as well. All of your goodies are just comforting and beautiful. I can see your personality in that shop. What a gorgeous place to be for the summer. I can't get over The Bay's deep blue and just vastness.

Faye, you are such an encouragement to me. I appreciate your gentle words that are woven with our Father's words. I hope you have a lovely rest of your summer, dear!!!

    Love and hugs,
    Heather
