Keepers of the Home Christmas Gathering...

Good Evening, dear hearts..
Hope you are all having a good weekend..
We are to have a major snowstorm beginning tonight and lasting through the day tomorrow..
I wonder if it will stay until the big day.. smile...

We had our Christmas Supper last night..
The weather turned out fine and we had 25 people attend..

I thought you might like to see some of the pics of the house being readied and waiting for everyone to show up..
We had some snow but not too much..

The dinner menu included..

Hot turkey open faced Sandwiches with Swiss Chalet type Gravy..
Baked Potatoes   Chives and Sour Cream
Sauteed Peas with Butter
Sliced Carrots
Caesars Salad    Fiesta Rice Salad
Cranberries
Lots of pickles
Fresh Rolls

The dear ladies brought Sherbet Punch and
Desserts galore..
Cheesecakes, Pies, Cakes, Macaroons, Carrot Cake and much more..
Tea and Coffee..

Here is the link for the Gravy..
Click HERE.
I made four batches of this which was a crock pot full..
The turkey just would not produce enough real turkey gravy so this is a good recipe for a crowd..
Not as good as the real thing, though.. smile..
I will give you the rice recipe next week..
I did like it.

I think that everyone had a good time.. smile..

The girls broke my rule and cleaned all up after..
Thank you sweeties and also for the lovely hostess gifts..

How are YOU all doing?
Getting ready for the holidays??..
I hope to get a bit of shopping done next week..

The lovely part of having a party here at our house is all of the little chores that get done ..
Terry and I are procrastinators and this achieved many things that we have wanted to get completed..
My kitchen redo is now ninety percent finished and I love it..
Thank you, Lord..

I am so glad you all dropped by and look forward to hearing from you..

I am going to open up the comment section again and see how we make out..

Sending you all a Christmas hug..
Have a great Lord\'s Day tomorrow..

God bless..

PS..
Sorry about the quality of some of the pics.. xo

  1. Your new kitchen is beautiful! I see many delicious meals and lovely fellowship happening there. Isn't it a blessing when others clean up? Our middle son always takes over the sink and the pots and pans when he is home and I appreciate him so much.

  2. Aw, we just got done with frigid temps this week. Now it's a heat wave of 40! I took photos of spider web lace on Thurs, think. It was beautiful and now it's all gone! But that's fine. I have photos to prove it. Alot of people were talking about it too! I need to pull out my Christmas lights and ornaments and clear spot in living room for the tree. Your kitchen is beautiful! Glad you had a nice meeting/get together. Hugs!

  7. Faye your home looks beautiful! I love the way you decorate - so warm and welcoming. It looks like you all had a wonderful time.

Our daughter arrived home last night, just ahead of the storm. It will be a good day for baking - should the power hold. You may have heard, many of us had no power yesterday afternoon. Ours was out for over three hours. No wood stove, it was cold.

I love the kitchen with the big table and chairs where it's cozy and one can watch or help the cook and have a nice visit. It looks like everyone had a fine time. Have a blessed week and stay safe in this weather. Hugs, Pamela

  15. Hello my dear girl. My, your whole house looks lovely. I love it all but the kitchen is so ME! I have a sitting area in my kitchen. too. We use it everyday. .......so cozy and comfy. Looks like you had quite a crowd! But with all that good looking food I would jump to be there, too. I looked at the turkey gravy recipe and it did look very good....and you are right sometimes there is not enough juices to make gravy for a crowd. I may try this recipe sometime. Looks quite easy. Your Christmas decorations look just perfect. Ya know, I did not get out as many this year. Makes my house too crowded. Well, it was lovely of you and your husband to have a nice get-together for the church ladies and their husbands. They do become a church family.

Well, off to bed and may God bless you and the ones you love!

  18. Oh what a fun time you must have had! I would love to do something like that one day. We are doing well, we are now installed in our new church and loving it!
We are going to have five of the young people from our church who have no family here, over for dinner and games on Boxing Day and then we are going to have an open house on New Years Day. We expect that most all of our congregation will be out. I'm really looking forward to entertaining again. I only wish we had a larger home, one day we will, I'm sure. Your kitchen looks lovely, I like the open shelves and the Christmas decor.
    Have a good week. Cindy

It's nearly 3:30 am here, and seeing your food is making me hungry! Guess I shouldn't have skipped dinner last night~~~**giggle**.
Your home is darling and cozy, and most importantly, welcoming.
I will have to check out the gravy recipe...as it is one that I've never heard of.

  24. Oh, my! My mouth is watering! Your kitchen is gorgeous. When you said that you get so much done before company... Yup. Steve and I are the same way. We have snow now, but Sunday it is supposed to be a freakish temperature of 65 degrees. All of our lovely snow will be gone. :(. Stay safe!

    Blessings and hugs! Heather

  25. Wow! It’s quite surprising! I have attended numerous Christmas events but didn’t see anything like this. These Christmas celebrations are looking so good. I celebrated last year’s Christmas with my family at one of local event venues and everyone enjoyed a lot there.
