Another Autumn Day..

Good Evening dear hearts...
I am glad you are here..

First of all I want to thank you sweet girls for leaving such lovely comments last post..
I hope you don't mind that I really did need to hear them..
Such an encouragement when you are in a slump or what have you..
And for all of your prayers..
As far as I know all is well with the old ticker and it is working fine..
Thank you, Jesus...

Anyway... here I am again..
Hoping that I will have something interesting for you..

Terry and I worked around the house today for awhile and then we headed out to the old farm for the rest of the day..

The old barn up above is a fave of mine..
Especially, in the Fall...

And of course my friend...

Isn't he just delicious"-)
I would dearly love to have a donkey..
That is all I will say.. grin..

Anyway... other shots along the old country road leading to the farm...

They still use this church..

I caught this one trying to get over to the other side..
The grass must look greener, eh?  smile..
But do you know something?
It isn't...
So many people do the same thing, don't they?
Leave behind the important things..
And look to new things that really are not any better..
Just a different location..
That's all I will say about that, I guess.. smile..

Well, there is the driveway and there is ...

the farm..
Still there..

Would you look at those hills....

The beautiful belt of maples running up the centre...
God is just so creative, eh?

Terry is taking the power saw and cutting some trees down that are growing along the brook that flows from the old spring..
And me..
Well, I am trying out a new recipe...

Another Zucchini Cake..
It is out of my Mennonite cookbook...

Terry liked this..
It is a heavy European type cake..
It is a shame that the stove has no temperature guide on it..
It turned out a bit crisp on the edges..
We just cut them off and Sammi loved them.. grin..

And now it is time to go back home..

The moon has come up and all is well...
Another lovely day that God has blessed us with..
A sweet time together...

Thanks for visiting ...
And for your sweet comments..
I hope you know that I read and cherish each and every one..

How are you all enjoying your Fall days?
Take care, now...

Blog Slump....

Good Evening everyone..
Just a little post tonight..

I seem to be going through a blog slump...
If that is an accurate explanation...

Those of you who have a blog probably know what I mean..
It seems as though you put on stuff and you are not sure if anyone is out there or not...

I know that stats says you are but my blog creativeness is uninspired and boring...

So.. I decline to put on anything...
Sorry about that..

Just a few pics tonight of my days...

The rainy Fall days bring out the soup maker in me..
I am a soup junkee as I have told you before..
This one is just tomatoes and grains and herbs..
Very good, though..

My Mom, Step-Dad and Terry and I went for a little trip yesterday to Calais, Maine and had a lovely day...

Mom and I sat in the back and had a whole day to visit and shop together..
She loves to shop.. smile...

I did not buy much but I did get this little treasure..

An owl plug in in which you put your oils or waxed tarts...
So sweet...

I wish I had bought some for the girls for Christmas but of course I did not think of that until we arrived back home... smile..

Have you started your Christmas lists?
I need to get at that soon..

Well, dear hearts thanks for your sweet visit..
Sorry about the quality  ...
I will get back to normal soon, I hope..

We have to go to St. John for my tests tomorrow...

Have an awesome evening, my friends..
Love and Prayers

The Days of Fall...

Hello everyone..
A simply beautiful day here in Atlantic Canada..

The sun shone brightly and we had a real frost last night..
There was ice in Sammi's water dish out on the deck early this morning..

Then the day turned into an Autumn dream..

Drifting leaves and the scent of wood smoke in the air..
The sound of the neighbor's power saw and crows chattering to each other...

Inside the smell of mustard pickles and baking bread..
We had quite a few large cucumbers from the garden and we just could not see them go to waste ...
They are a favorite around here, too.. smile..

Putting away some apples...

Apple Crisps for the freezer and slices for the dehydrator..

Terry grew a wonderful crop of little pumpkins..
A few bigger size but a bunch of little ones..
Just lovely for setting here and there just to brighten up a few nooks and crannies.. smile..
And a bit of baking...

I can't seem to help myself on these cool days.. smile..

I forgot to take a pic of the finished product..
Broiled Coconut Frosting..
Oh well...

The loveliness of a Sunflower with a blue sky and maple leaves..
These spell Fall to me..
How about you?

And I am just about to say good bye to my pickle pot until next year...

Just a couple more batches of this of that..

I have been looking for a recipe that I lost...

One of my dear friends had it and when I called her she was so kind and  gave it to me..
And then I lost it once more during the move home from the cottage..
So I called her AGAIN for it...
Guess what?
Yes... now she has lost it .. grin..
We are certainly two of a kind..

Oh my...
Imagine what we will be like in a few years..

We probably won't recognize each other..
Oh well..
We can become new friends..
Yes, I read that somewhere... grin..

Does anyone have a recipe for mild hot mixed pickles???
She and I would appreciate it.. grin..

Well, it has been a lovely weekend thus far...
Hope you are having one, too...

Tomorrow is the Lord's Day..

Let's enter his gates with thanksgiving and enter his courts with praise; give thanks to him and bless his name..
Psalms 100-4

Thank you so much for popping by my dears..
I am so glad you did... smile.

Hope there was something here to interest you...
I love your comments and do hope to hear from you..

God bless...

Such lovely treats...

Hello dear ladies..
Hope you had a lovely day..

Today I worked literally all day cleaning my pantry..

When you haven't been using it for several months it really needs a good turning out...
So relieved to have that job behind me..

I love to go in there and bake something up..
Now it is clear sailing.. smile..

Actually.. I did make this ...

Zucchini  Pie
You bake it in a pie pan and it is really moist and delicious..

Most of us have lots of zucchini  or we can get some..
This is one way of using them up..

Here is the recipe for you..

2/3 cup of brown sugar
1/4 cup of butter
1 tsp. of vanilla
1 egg
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 cup of grated zucchini
1/2 cup of nuts or raisins,,,
Just cream the sugar, butter and vanilla.. Then add egg and mix well..
Sift in the flour, soda and spices and mix for a minute or so..
Add the zucchini and stir well..
Pour into a greased 9 inch pie pan..
Bake in a 350 degrees F. oven for 25 minutes.

Turn out onto a rack and cool..
Meanwhile stir up an icing for the top..
1 1/2 cups of icing sugar
3 T. butter
1/4 tsp. cloves
3-5 tsp. coffee cream or can milk.. (whole milk will do)
Whisk together and spread on..
Terry thought this would be good for breakfast.. smile..

It only takes a few minutes to make and is a nice treat which does not last long but if it does it will get more moist...

Thanksgiving is over again for us Canadians so what do we do the next day or so?

Right..
Make turkey soup... smile..

I always add barley to my turkey soup...
Do you?

Did you know that when you have a blog you make the best and dearest friends..
They may live way far away but you feel as though they live next door to you..

And sometimes they send you presents and letters.. smile..

Well..
I received this lovely gift from my friend Trace...

I was so excited when Terry brought home this lovely parcel from the post office..

And inside was this dear gift...

A wonderful strawberry mat made by Trace herself..
Wrapped in kraft coloured tissue and tied with jute with the button packages as the bow..

Isn't it lovely?

A dear little woolie berry along with some strawberry recipe cards..
Trace and I love recipes.. In fact we like a lot of the same things..
She also loves the Lord and old dishes.. grin..

Her blog can be found HERE..

THANK YOU DEAR FRIEND..
You are so thoughtful..

Well, dear hearts...
This all for today..
Hope you are all doing well in your part of the world..

Thank you for dropping by and visiting..
So glad you did and I look forward to hearing from you all..

So thankful tonight that we have a prayer answering God who specializes is miracles..
There is power in prayer, eh?

Shonda has a way with decorating as you can see..

And there were some lovely conversations taking place..

Family china passed on down...

Our darling grandsons having fun with the turkey pinata they were about to hang..

Sweet dear memories...

Shonda's homemade apple pies..

And here is the dear hostess herself seeing us off...
Photogenic just like her Dad... smile..

Thank you, child...

God has so blessed this family..
And we are so thankful..

PUMPKIN THYME...

Good Morning to you all..
Just a very short post as we head out to the cottage for the weekend and then to Shonda's for Thanksgiving Dinner with the family..

These are a few pics that I took on our way into the city ...

These pumpkins are growing just a few minutes from us..
Terry's family home is only a few miles from here..

We are going to the cottage to get the rest of our stuff and to close up the shop for the year..
Here is a link for last year's Thanksgiving that we had at the cottage.. Just click HERE..

We are cooking the turkey at the cottage and taking it to Shonda's along with a  few other goodies... smile..
Will post about it all later, Lord willing..

As you know our Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend..
So...
I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and will chat with you in a couple of days..

So thankful for all the Lord has done..
Hugs...

An October Day Farm Field Trip....

Hello everyone..
So glad you all dropped by..

Just wondering if you would like to take a wee field trip up to our old farm with us..
We decided to spend the day up there yesterday..

Come along...
It is a beautiful day here in New Brunswick..
As you can see it is a rural part where we live..

If you look really hard you can see the windmills that are past our farm...

Way over at the top of those hills..

Just winding along the old country roads...

We are getting closer...
The hills are getting higher.. smile..

Yes, here is our brook....

And here is the dear old place...

As always, there is a nice breeze blowing the flag..
The flags only last a few months as the wind is quite something up here..

Anyway..
We unload some stuff and Terry heads outside to do some work..
After cleaning some I decide to bake something for him for a surprise...

Aunt Eva's old pastry board is built into the cupboards...

I wonder how many times her dear hands have performed the same chore as the morning sun streams through the kitchen window...

She was a wonderful cook..
People came for miles to have one of her famous meals...

Well, there you go my love...
Apple Dumplings...

With a bit of butterscotch sauce..
He kept smiling and I asked him what was so funny...
He says... "Oh you and your surprises!"... grin..

Then since we are celebrating our first real day here we are also having a steak...

Done farm style...
In a cast iron fry pan with onions...

Would you dear girls set the table for me?  smile..
We will use the little green saucers for the beet salad..

Would you like the recipe?..
So simple and good for your gall bladder or so Elsie tells me..
I loved the taste..

Beet Salad..
Grate or chop up one raw beet..
Add 2 T. flax oil  *I used olive..
juice of 1/2 of a lemon..
salt and pepper..
 I added some parsley ..

After lunch someone laid down on the old couch for a nap....

And someone else looked through the bookshelves and looked at guess what?

Recipe books.. Old ones.. smile..
And from my Bible that my Mom and Dad gave me on my 33rd birthday..
A long time ago, eh?

Then he worked outside some more and I cleaned..
It has been a few months since we have spent any time here..

Anyway my dears I hoped you enjoyed your day as much as we have.. smile..

Time to go back home, though...

The sun has set pretty well and old Sammi is tired out..
So blessed...

Did you know that God can make something beautiful out of your life?..
We sang that on Sunday and I thought of the miracle in our own lives..
A messed up home and messed up lives turned into something beautiful with God's grace and mercy..
All these years  we could have been torn asunder  but instead because of God we have had a  blessed life together..

Thank you, dear Jesus,,,

Have a wonderful day, my friends..
