A little country drive....

Hello dear hearts...
Just a little pictorial for you today..
A wee field trip Terry took me on ..
He was trying to help me feel better..
Does a little drive help you to take your mind off of a sadness or some stress sometimes??
It does help for a bit, eh?

Our Sammi is gone..
He was a good dog and we will miss him..
I know that he was an animal but one gets attached..

Such a dear old dog...

Anyway, sweet friends have a blessed Lord's Day..

Thank you thank you to you new followers and to you dear faithful readers who always visit and leave your lovely comments..
I appreciate it so much..

God bless...

Just working on some projects...

Good Evening, dear hearts..
Hope all is well with thee..

Another very cold day here in the Eastern Canada...

Terry went to the farm and I stayed home..
I am starting to get that overwhelmed feeling..
So many projects started and nothing finished..
We have been going up there so much that I am now lagging behind..
Well, that is my story and I am sticking to it.. grin..

I wanted to introduce you, though, to someone pretty special..
Please let it be known that I am not a dog person..
We have Sammi and of course I love him because ...
Well.. just because..
But someday I would like a cat and chickens and 3 sheep..

Never mind...
Anyway... Meet Charlie..

You have to admit that he is pretty cute..eh?
He is a Wrinkle Dog or some such thing..
Dustin received his Christmas present early from his girlfriend..

He is showing Sammi his wrinkles..
Poor Sam... He is wondering what I think of this guy..

Well, just so I don't bore you completely I will show you bits of my week..

Some homemade maple granola..
My friend who lives in St. Martins calls me a granola..
Or is it a granola want-to-be?  grin..
You all know what that means .. Right?
If not just ask me and I will tell you.... smile...

Here is a bag of things I bought this Summer at a yard sale or someplace like that..

What would you do with them?
Here is what I did to them today..

Remember that they are only just started..
I will show you the finished project in a day or so, I hope..
Do I have your imagination going, I wonder..

Then here are some pieces of vintage quilt tops..

All tea dyed and ready to be turned into something for a gift..
Later, too..
Oh...
This was just our salad..
Using my preserved lemons.. Yummy....
I talked about them HERE..

Remember, I mentioned that I had bought an old Santa at Thrift for three dollars...

He is humongous..grin..
Well, I tore off all of that fake stuff..
Eyes, brows, beard, etc..
And painted and sewed on a new face..

Glued on some sheep's wool...

Sprayed him with some homemade coffee dye..

Several coats actually..
Had to lay him on a chair and dry away..

He needs another coat before I go to bed..

To make a nice spray all I did was make some strong
instant coffee and put several drops of my kindred spirit oil in it..
Put it in a spray bottle and spray away..
He smells good enough to hug.. grin..
We are not real Santa people..
Christmas is about Christ but there is a bit of a child in me that remembers the fun of my Dad teasing me and saying that Santa's elves lived in our attic.. smile..
Sweet memories..
And here is another dear little thrift store find...

I know Suzanne or Paula will want these.. smile..
They went to the farm for my new shelf...

And last but not least..

Another salad..
Did someone say the word diet around here..
Not with that real bacon and homemade croutons..
Yikes..

Well, my friends..
I am so glad you dropped by ..
You are awesome and I thank you for your lovely comments and notes...
I just love them...
Going to town tomorrow and then to Bible Study so I will catch up with you again soon..
Take care and may you have joy and peace..

Such a sweet place...

Good Evening my dears...
Hope you are all doing well...

Here we are... HOME Again...
Is there any place so sweet?  smile..

We were blessed with a wonderful Summer but I am so glad to be back ..

There is so much to do.. (I am not complaining)... smile..
Unpacking and cleaning...
Oh my...

I had only been back two or three times in three months..

And Terry (the dear man) was the one who came home and did whatever... lawns, laundry, garden and such..

Please note that I did not mention housework...
That he does not do.. grin...
Oh well...
It stayed around  is all here and waiting for me..
I kind of feel like I will never catch up but all in  due time, I guess..

We arrived home late Monday evening but our internet order was misplaced and we did not get hooked up until late today..

But here are a few pics of things that have been keeping us busy...

Making some chocolate chip cookies..
So nice to have a working oven after 3 months of doing without..

A bit of decorating..
Putting my lovely present that my cousin Val made for me on my kitchen table...

I just love it and the color is perfect..
Thank you, Val..

Also, Karen from My Colonial Home made my lovely candle cozy... I love it, too...

I do need to get a bit of Fall decorating done..
Later....

We also made a quick trip up to the old farm today...

Checked on our friends..
All seems well... smile..

Then gathered up some wonderful Spring water to bring back home..

So much has changed since my last visit in June..
The grass is dying and the leaves are changing colors..

It was a simply beautiful day there, though we only stayed for a couple of hours..
Next week we hope to go for the day and have dinner there..

My.. it is cold out there tonight..
I had to bring in some of my plants that I leave on the patio for the Summer ...
Full moon I think..

There has been a lovely breeze every day which dried many lines full of laundry..

We made a visit yesterday to the market in the city and visited our youngest son...

It felt like I had not seen him for ages..
The dear lad...
Hence, the chocolate chip cookies.. smile..

There is one happy camper around here..
Sammi...
He has a hard time at the cottage..

When he is there he needs to be tied and is not allowed to bark much and the fireworks drives him nuts..

Here at home he has freedom...

We just hope that the therapy is not too expensive.. grin...
Just kidding..

Anyway.. I am sorry I have not been a good blogger the last few months..
I would go to the shop and then come home and need to make stuff and then I was too tired to post or check your lovely blogs..
But now...
I will try and do better...
Just not tonight.. grin..

Thanks so much for dropping by and welcome to the new followers..
So glad to have you ...

But now before I go, may I ask you to pray for a sweet Keeper of the Home who is also a dear mama..

She and her sweet family need your prayers this day..

Please pray that God will bless them with healing and strength and  that He will comfort them and give them peace even through the night time hours..

We know that He is able to do more than we could ask or think..

Thank you so much sweet ladies...

Sending love and blessing to you all...

Summer's Joy....

Hello my dears..
So glad you dropped by..

It has been a very busy week here in St. Martins..

Several dear friends were camping down here this week and we have enjoyed visiting together  so much..

It is so great to get with friends who know what you mean just by looking at your expression.. They have seen it enough in the past to know exactly what you are not saying.. grin...

We shared such sweet fellowship and I will cherish the memories ..

Just sharing a few little pics of Summer with you tonight..

I don't like to admit it but I do think that Fall is beginning  to hang around a bit..

At night especially when the breeze blows the curtains over the top of my head I am sure I can feel it... smile..

I don't want it to hurry at all.. I love Summer...

So, Fall can just take a back seat and wait for it's turn.. grin..

Anyway...
We have decided to stay at the cottage a few more weeks than earlier planned..
I didn't realize until the other night just how close Labour Day Weekend is this year..
Much too early to close the shop and go home..
So...
We will not have the closing until later in the month..

Terry is bringing down another fifty pounds or more of cucumbers tomorrow plus two bags of tomatoes..

I will once again smell like a garlic clove.. grin..

I hope I don't but sometimes I find myself explaining..
"If you smell garlic then it is just that I made some dill pickles this morning"... grin..

It is not really that bad but you get the drift, eh?

Fall is not the only thing that hangs around this old cottage and jumping all over us.. smile..

Dear old Sam...
He's a good dog...
I always think that when he has gone home with Terry .. smile..

Thank you dear friends for stopping by and I look forward to reading the little notes you leave so that I know you were here..

Oh... and to my old friends who read my blog every day..
THANK YOU..
grin...
You know who I mean... smile..

God Bless...

Weekend Memories...

Hello there everyone..

I am posting as you can see...
A bit late and a dollar short but I am here.. grin..
That is an old saying but knowing me I have it backwards or something..
Bear with me..smile..

What a crazy wonderful weekend here in St. Martins during Old Home Week.
Simply beautiful weather, too..

Our company arrived on Friday..

But before they arrived Sammi and I went out and picked a few flowers to put about..

Consider the lily... smile..

That old mason jar had a water proof light in it and our company told me she wondered all evening what on earth was lighting it up..
smile..

We picked some roses and distributed them about the house..
Roses are my Mom's favorite so the vase with the rose painted on it was placed in their room... And a few for the Dining  table....

And this beautiful peony and such went into the other bedroom..
I love going out and about the yard and making little bouquets..

Do you?

And then of course, there was some food involved...

Gotta love those Summer Salads..
Especially, when basil is included..

I still worked in the House of Henry.....
Although, I did wait until the Village Yard Sale calmed down..

My word.. I didn't think St. Martins could hold that many people ..
Ann who was visiting from P. E. I. told me she had no idea..
Imagine ...smile... She was so thrilled..
So.. I opened the shop right after lunch...

Main Street had cars parked on both sides and the Cruise Ship buses were trying to get to the Caves...
Good bus drivers, I must say...
Only heard the ambulance go once....
Oh, and the fire truck and police went once..
This is only a village, remember.... smile..

Here are a couple of Shop pics for you..

dear old hand hooked rugs...

vintage wares...

I had one of my new customers back and she took a pic of this room..
So, I took one, too.. smile..
I am sure her photo is much nicer for she looked kind of like a professsional to me..
I am not sure.. yet.. grin...

more vintage...

It was exciting meeting other Summer people and especially seeing friends and family from away..

I even saw a couple of our grandsons and their Dad as they picked up Gramps in the early hours to take him to New Hampshire for the Nascar Race ...
Also, our youngest son brought down a few friends and took dear old Sammi to the beach for a few hours..
He loved that...

The camp grounds were filled as were most of the Inns...
Our friends that were in charge of the Bus Trip when we joined up with them in Lancaster County, Pa. came into the shop..
I was so surprised as they live in Ontario...
She grew up in P. E. I. and just caught our friends leaving..
They had grown up together...
A sweet reunion...
So great to see them..

And then there were dear friends  that I have had for 48 years and 30 odd years..
We tried to figure it out and started laughing about something that happened back then.. grin..
They are more like family, really.

And then there was Judy ....
Our families have known each other since we were born..
When we started  grade 7 at the same school we became personal friends..
So long ago..

Imagine what Heaven will be like!!
Meeting all the ones who have gone on before..
What a day that will be...

On with the story....smile..

I tried to concoct  a few things between chats.. grin...
Like this..

A primitive stamped muslin ribbon garland...
I love how it turned out.
I just need to make one and tea dye it first and see which my customers like best...

And...
A bit of homemade Fish Chowder... Sprinkled with Dulse Flakes..

Do you know what Dulse is?
The most delcious sea weed..
We buy huge bags of it and snack on it like chips or buy it in a bottle and sprinkle it on our chowders...
ymmmm..

Well...
All in all a wonderful busy weekend..

Poor old Sam has had the biscuit... grin..

He is not the only one...smile..

So thankful for all that God has provided for us this past week...
His love.. family and friends..
His touch as I talked to Him...
Health and strength and protection ...
And the sea...
What more does a gal need..

And thank YOU  for the sweet visit..
Looking so forward to hearing from you all..
Appreciate every word you write...

Hugs from the Bay of Fundy...
