January .. A time for the Lovely..






Hello my dears.. 
A little different post tonight.. 

A few pics from my Pinterest boards.. 
I was wondering if you would like to tell me which ones spoke to you the most ... 
January is such a great time to do things that we usually may not have time for... 

Our hearts are looking at empty calender pages and we would like to fill them with lovely things.. 

In the Bible in the book of Philippians 4:6-8
tells us not to be anxious about anything but to take our cares to the Lord and He will give us His peace but also to think about things that are lovely and such.
.New International Version (NIV)
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

So.. 
with that in mind I am trying to fill my mind with the lovely..

In my pics I have tried to select the attainable.. 
Lovely rooms, little projects, simple pleasures and as always the Word of God.. 

There are lots of things on Pinterest or the internet that inspire but there is no reality if you know what I mean.. 
A lot of it would never come near our budget so I am trying to be real and find doable projects and such...
OK?

  1. Faye, I love every one of them and together they express such a peaceful feeling. The peppers in the sink, the books on the chair, the bible pictures, the love letter, all of them. I'm sure it took you some time to put this together, it is just lovely!!!

  3. The kitchem scenes and the dolls were my favorite pics. Right now I could just snuggle under the comforter and rest my head on a pillow, not feeling energetic after a day's work and still struggling to get over a flu bug. The kitchens are so inviting and love the one with all the jars on the shelves. I could see me with shelves like that, maybe old school, but I wouldn't mind. Hugs across the miles.

  4. Hi Faye, I agree with Peggy...they all are wonderful. I love your pic of the Bible and the notes that you keep with it. Seems like that would really mean something to you and Terry.
    #2- The dolls! They are so very sweet. Just the kind of dolls that I love. I would want all three together or one ...it would not matter....that is how much I love them.
    #3 the Love Letters sure did catch my eye. Did you make that? It is so beautiful. I would lo0ve that for my breezeway door where no weather would get to it! So sweet!
    #4 I love all of the kitchens...especially the one with the stone walls and the brass faucet. Oh, to have all those shelves out in the open would be just what I would like. Also, is that a pantry, too. Oh, In my dreams!
    #5 The wall of BOOKS! I could be there for days reading all of those books. I LOVE books but have been so busy lately, I have not found time to read as much as usual....but I will!. (Positive, positive!)
    #6. The chicken and rice soup....I bet it came from the kitchen of Faye Henry...so it has to be more than good!
    What did I leave out? All in all , I would have to say the ones that attracted me the most were the Bible and the dolls....I wish I could make those dolls.
    Just writing this and admiring your pics has made me relax and think about the things I love in my life. And God encourages me every day to do that.

  5. What a true thought, Faye! A lot of trends have very little substance and I would rather aim for the lovely that is honest and genuine! Good idea for a post!
    I really like the CS Lewis quote but the books are great and the hand kneading the dough remind me of my dear mother! All lovely!

  7. The C.S. Lewis quote gets my first response! Then the "love letters" one and the biscuits cut out in the shape of hearts! Such wonderful ideas to get my mind turning to the month of February! As always, Faye, it is a joy to have spent time here.

    I think that the first few pictures must come from your home ; the rest are lovely as well. I enjoyed all of the pictures, they all remind me of you.

    I must say though, that I was getting excited when I saw the basket of love letters, I anticipated you were going to show us how to make them!

  9. The reading corner (which I recognize, hehe), the love letters, the quote about the ultimate career, and the heart-shaped biscuits - love those! I believe I may just make those heart-shaped biscuits happen in my house this weekend. :-)

  10. Beautiful pictures! I think my favorite would be ??? I'm not sure!! I really like the peppers in the sink and I also liked the lady kneading the dough. They are all beautiful and to me they all say HOME! Thanks for sharing and God bless.

  11. There are a few photos in this post that spoke to me. The first was the old chair with the old coverless books on it. The second was the cloth envelope filled with cloth hearts and, the third was the pantry. To me they speak of love for the home and nurturing. January is flying by isn't it? Have a blessed weekend.

  14. Hi Faye, Loved your post and I would have to say the pantry, Kitchen and love letters were my favourite. I would like to try making one. I can just see it on my door. I enjoyed the other pics as well. Books are a big fav with me.

  16. I agree with many of the others, They are ALL inspiring Faye.
    My fave, I believe, is the cheery stack of woven plaid wool blankets. something very enticing about the colors, the woven design and the thought of the cosiness of the end use. Beautiful and Functional. That stone sink is a close second tho. xo

  17. Faye, your pictures are lovely! Two of them stood out to me; the kneading bread one - we have an old bread board that belonged to my mother-in-law - it has seen a few batches of bread; the other picture is the pantry one - can almost picture the kitchen this pantry would be a part of; the simple wooden shelves stocked with kitchen staples and the curtain on the bottom....a flashback from simpler times.
    I think we need to get back to a simpler life style; a lot of people today would feel better and be more content!

  18. oh Faye Henry, I think my favourite picture is the one on top of the header... LOL...
    Sometimes when there seems to be a lot of negativity going on around me I remind myself that we are supposed to think about what is pure and lovely... and praiseworthy. Hmmm... certainly seems to be an uncommon way for most people to think these days.
    PS- The blanket pictures look cozy

  19. Oh. I just love your thoughts and the sweet Scripture of this post. The pictures are all lovely...my most favorite is the red and cream bedroom and the vegetables in the farm house sink. I'm going to look for your pinterest board :)

  21. I loved all of the pictures, but the red and white bedroom is lovely AND achievable for me! I just need to find a few yards of the red and white buffalo check....I have the room :^) and everything else!
    Of course I would need to add the red Bible, but since I am a redaholic...I actually have one :^) annnnnd a red hymnal as well :^)

  22. I adore the one with the red checkered bedskirt on the pretty bed. And I love the one with the fire on the hearth with a comfy chair pulled up to it. January is a time for the lovely and the comfy!
