Spring is here!!

Hello everyone...
So glad to have you visit..

It is finally Spring here in New Brunswick..
Warm sunny days or cloudy ones with lovely laundry winds..
Yesterday I washed and dried all of the throws, bedding and such..
They blew out so nice and not a wrinkle in them and they smell beautiful!
Terry worked outside in the yard with raking and all..
  A spring blessing for sure..

Today it was raining so Terry washed woodwork, doors and window frames..
He is a good man! smile..
I cleaned drawers and closets in our bedroom..
I am a lover of books.. Need I say more?  grin..
I now have two huge bags.. Some to turn in for a coupon and others to donate..
Trying so hard to declutter..
Bags of clothes we don't wear, etc, etc... smile..

Feels good to get some Spring cleaning under way..

Woke up in the night to hear rain falling and a nice brisk breeze..
My wind chime clunking away..
Another lovely Spring blessing..
I know my window is open in all seasons but rain sounds better then snow.. grin..

In the kitchen this week I made some Homemade Mayo with my stick blender and organic eggs..
What a neat way to make mayonnaise..
Here is the link..

I saw this on Master Chef Australia!
Their recipe was only 1 egg yolk, 1/2 tsp. Dijon Mustard, lemon juice from half of a lemon, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1 cup of oil...

The recipe above on the link is just a bit different but it is pretty much the same.. It only took about 2 minutes to make..
I used it to make the Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad for supper the other night..

As always I potter away in the pantry..
Making biscuits, cookies or a loaf of bread.
Made some cookies and fudge to mail out west.. smile..
I am doing very well in keeping the pantry organzied..
I redid it over the winter and Terry painted the herb cupboard and hung some lights ...
I got rid of so many pans and stuff I didn't use..
Makes it so much easier to keep..
I am a pantry lover..
Looking forward to working in the farm one this summer...

Did you notice my new fish?
Skittles...
I had put him in a coffeepot as I had saw the idea on the web but there was not enough room for him to swim in..
This big bottle is much better.
There are plant cuttings in the top and he feeds off of them..
He is named after Kyle Bush's car..
Don't tell my grandsons.. grin..
I am his only fan in this family.. lol..

We had a down home supper tonight..
Shake and Bake chicken, stuffing and mashed along with the Fiddle heads I canned last Spring and some Dill pickles from the cold cellar..
It will soon be Fiddlehead season here..
So happy with them canned rather than frozen...
I only have 1 bottle of dills left, I think..
They are our favourites and are gone first...

We went to Sussex one day and it was so neat to see the snow disappearing so quickly... We met up with Trevor (our oldest son) and he and his Dad visited their fave store together..
Canadian Tire.. grin..

Including a couple of pics of dear Charlie..
He loves Spring days, too..
He just stands on the deck and sniffs..
So many interesting scents for him to smell..
I told him I wanted his pic for Dustin (our youngest son who is his owner) to see..
So he just stood there saying hi.. grin..

Our daughter and family are in Mexico..
Each morning she sends me a pic to show me she is doing lovely and having a grand time..
Do you think she wonders if I am worrying..
No... not me.. grin..

Love love our kids!
So thankful to the Lord for our sweet family..
Our kids and their spouses and 5 wonderful grandsons...
A blessing for all seasons...

Thanking God for the Spring and all the blessings it brings..

Remember ...
Life is what you make it...

Thanks for visiting and your sweet comments here and on the Face book page..
Love hearing from you dear people..

God bless.. xo

This and That..

Hello dear hearts..
How are you all doing?
We have had a lovely sunny day here in New Brunswick..
It sure feels like Spring and makes one think that she has arrived.. Won't be long now.. smile..

Just writing a little post about our doings as usual..
The sun has been shining in the windows and make me long for the garden so I did a few plant chores..
My Pregnant Onion which I love had outgrown her pot so repotted her and her many babies in a nice new home.
It has a few specks on it so cut it down and sprayed some homemade Insecticide..
recipe..
1 heavy T. Castile or pure Soap to 1 litre of spring water..
Place in a spray bottle..
I find this works really well..

On another day when we were at the market I bought a lovely big box of pears and made these..

They are so delicious with one in bowl along with a some of the juice and a bit of whipped cream..
Perfect ending to a supper meal..

Love fish meals..

On another day my friend Dawn and I each made this bread..

And sent each other pics of how it was turning out.. smile.
Neither of us liked the apples on it but the bread was good..

This is a photo of an old church near where I grew up..

My sister sent it to me..
When we drove by the other day it was being renovated to be a house or something..
Such a shame that so many of these old churches are not being used as churches any more..
Matt. 24: 12-14..

I haven't accomplished near the chores that I hoped to...
As always...
I did get all of my cupboards and pantry cleaned and organized though..

I love blue dishes..
Do you?

What do you like for breakfast..
Here is one of my favourites..

Eggs and bacon are not anything  I ever want ..
Terry loves that ..
Whenever I cook rice for supper I always make extra so I can have a breakfast bowl..
I just put a speck of oil and butter in a small fry pan.. Add some chopped peppers, onions, and here a few asparagus..
A shake of chili flakes and garlic powder and that is all it needs ..
Salt and pepper..

Try it .. You might like it.. grin..
A couple of old dishes that I love..
I bought the mild pitcher at an antique store and my sister gave me the little salt shaker/pepper set..

Came across this on the web.

How true it is for me..

A few old books around here..

So that is all for tonight my friends..
I am afraid it is a bit mundane on here tonight..
Sorry about that..
I will try to do better next time..

I do have a prayer request for you who believe in the power of prayer..
A sweet blogger, Donna who I have learned to call friend is in need of strength and peace..
A very short time ago she lost her husband to cancer.. They are only middle aged and she still had two girls home with her..
And an older girl who with her husband and children moved home to be near her Momma..
Yesterday, I received the saddest email from her requesting prayer for her and her family. Her sweet Julie had been killed in a car accident on her way to college..
My heart so goes out to her...
She said her heart was shattered and only Jesus was holding her together..
So thankful she has faith in God..
He alone can give her the peace and strength she will need..
Please join with me in lifting her and her sweet family up in prayer..
The Dawson Family
Virginia..

Thank you ..
God bless and and hug your loved ones..

Farm Journal 5

Happy Saturday everyone..
Here we are almost the end of July and I still don't feel like Summer has really begun.. Do you?
We have had hot days but this past week felt so much like Fall especially during the nights..

I know.. It is much better then snow..

Anyway..
This is Farm Journal number 5..
I am a bit quicker on the draw this time then last..
I think only about a week between posts..
The thing is that when we were here and I posted last week I left my camera card in the computer and could only take 8 pics until a couple of days ago..
We had a town day and I purchased another card just so I could take a few pics for you all.. smile..
The above pic is the lace curtains in the livingroom.. I should call this the lace curtain post as there are several more.. grin..
We were down to the cottage last weekend and had one of Shonda's dearest friends (Laurie) in for a wee visit..
She is a darling and she and Shonda have been friends since grade 2... Anyway, she had read my post the night before and said so seriously..."Faye, do you mean Victorian?"  ...
Oh my...
No, dear girls I have not switched to Victorian...
I did so many of that style of crafts during my hay day in the craft world that the very word makes me cringe.. No offence to you sweet Victorian lovers but I do love lace, roses, potpourri, linens, toile and so on.. But no... no Victorian..
Just antiquey.. I don't think that is a word but you get my drift, eh?
On with the post..
The garden is coming along lovely thanks to my dear husband..
Please note his BBQ planter of which he is so proud..
Full of tomatoes and such..

I did a couple of wee changes in the pantry..
Can you spy them?
We brought up the old cupboard from my shop there by the frypans..
There is a cutting board that pulls out so you can place something on it to stir or whatever and it has lots of shelves..
I do not really have it organized yet but soon, I hope..
Oh and a new frying pan holder..
So handy .. Terry made me some wire S hook things and so convenient instead of digging and looking for the right size..
And...
Redid the pantry window..

Almost finished..
Blue dishes and cream lace and blue cups hanging at the top..
I just need to add a flower to the vase and it should be done..
So loving my blues..

Brought home this set of blue cutlery from the cottage..
A fellow blogger and friend wrote a book called Wren Bay..
It is about making a home and her cover photo was cutlery in a lovely mason jar of dried something...
Our grandsons were up for a day this week and asked me..
" Grandma, what is this for?"
LOL..
"Oh, just a little project Grandma did to hold the cutlery..
"Mmmmm.. nice!"  grin..
Here is a sweet pic of her book..
You can the info Here..
This is one of my favourite books and I use it kind of like a cook book perse as it is full of recipes and projects..
The story is lovely, also..

Still taking a drive here and there..
And drying flowers ...

Searching the road sides as we drive along..
Do you do that?

Bought myself a new pair of work gloves..
Terry picked me a bunch of Queen Anne's Lace to dry and I picked 32 heads to make jelly..
It turned out beautifully and I like it as well or even better then Rose Petal Jelly..

The old hutch in the Living Room..
Thanks, Sue.. ox
A few more curtain pics..
Remember this is just an old house..

We have not had time to change dear Aunt Eva's colours in some of the rooms yet..
The upstair bathroom is one of those..
Hot pink??  grin..

Then one of the small bedrooms..
I think the doilie curtain I made last summer is perfect on this window with the colours of the quilt..
I wish I could have got a pic of the colours exactly but my camera would not cooperate..
No closet doors but the curtain does the trick..
Scarlet Runner beans and Green and Wax....

We had some wonderful help this week getting the back stoop redone..

Hopefully, it will be finished this week..
Trev and his sons came for a day and we had a great time..

We came home today to stay overnight as Terry and some of the boys went to the races..
We brought the truck as he wanted to bring the tiller for the garden he has here ..
I was waiting for him to come out in the car and noticed he had a passenger...

Just waiting patiently...
The dear old thing..smile..

Well sweeties..
This is it for another time..
Sorry, I did not have my camera card with me but at least I found a few pics to take..

Hope you are enjoying your summer days..
They pass so quickly...
We still have so many projects to do..
Preserves will be calling my name soon and although I have finished a few small projects the dear man is taken up with carpentry for now..
My bunting, valances, hankie line, bird bath are just sitting and waiting to be put up...
Next time, perhaps... eh?

Take care and love love your comments..
Please don't mind that I don't get back to you on FB like I used to but usually there is not time.. I do read each and every one and will get my sister to look them up and read them to me.. smile..

God bless..
