Making a Clothes Pin Bag and a little study for you...

Hello ...
Hope all is well in your part of the world..
We are having sunny days after sunny days here...

It is a great time to put out the laundry after using the dryer all winter.. I could watch clothes blow on the line for ages..
Or flags blow in the breezes,... smile..

Anyway, I posted last year HERE on how to make a clothespin bag..

Well, that one needed replaced.. Whenever I would go to a Thrift store lately I would look for a little piece of clothing that would suffice for a new bag and I found this ...

A little wee jean skirt...

Now it is a clothespin bag..

Just click on above and it will take you to the instructions for using a child's sweater, too..
All I had to do to this was sew across the bottom and it works great..

Today, our youngest son came out and helped his Dad so I was able to do some sewing....

I bought a box of old fabrics at an auction and decided to sew some things up for the shop...

This is a cushion cover but I don't have it stuffed yet..
I love how it turned out and will share it with you later..

I did a bag and a couple of cushions and such..
None are completely finished...
Some need stuffed and some need some embroidery...
But at least I feel like I am getting a start on it all..

I have been working on a little study project and thought perhaps you would like to do it, too..

It is on the Seven Redemptive Names of Jehovah..

I have been reading an old book that belonged to one of our elder pastors..

It is called CHRIST THE HEALER by F. F. Bosworth
A wonderful book written so that even I can understand it .. smile..

Anyway, this section was in it and I decided to memorize the seven names...

Here they are...

1.  JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH-  the Lord is there or present..
2.  JEHOVAH-SHALOM-  the Lord our Peace..
3.. JEHOVAH-RA-AH - "The Lord is my Shepherd."
4.  JEHOVAH-JIRAH - means the Lord will provide..
5.. JEHOVAH-NISSI- means the Lord is our Banner or Victor or Captain..
6.. JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU is translated "the Lord our Righteousness..
7.. JEHOVAH-RAPHA- is translated "I am the Lord thy Physician," or " I am the Lord that healeth thee."

There is something about reading this that has touched my soul..
I wanted to put it in my memory so I could think on it whenever I wanted to...

Each one is explained, too..

Maybe, you would like to do the same.. smile..
Let me know if you decide to memorize them, too..

In this end day it is all about HIM..
HE IS COMING SOON....

Thank you so much for visiting and welcome to the new followers..

So glad you all dropped by and as always I look forward to hearing from you..

Hugs from Maritime Canada...

HEADING FOR THE OLD FARM...

Good Evening, my dears..

Just wondering if you would  like to go to the farm with us for the day...

As you know, we have this old farm up in the Kent Hills and we go and spend a day whenever we can..

It belonged to my aunt and her husband's family since 1907 and my family went there often as I was growing up..
When my aunt and uncle went to a nursing home we were so happy to be able to purchase it..

Our kids thought we were nuts but we love it..

Our sons like it now but it is not something Shonda wants us to leave to her in the will.. grin..
Oh well...to each his own, eh!

We didn't leave until late morning but here we are..

Almost there..

See the windmills up ahead..

When we see them we know we are almost there..
Actually, the old place is only about a half an hour from our home..

Sammi (our dog) always knows when we are almost there and puts his front feet up on the dash.. smile..

There it is..
Just sitting there waiting..
Old and dilapidated but loved by us.. smile..

There is always a lot of work to do...
Terry brought the lawnmower..

He wants to cut down all the old grass as it kind of got away on him in the Fall...
This way it will be a lot easier to manage..

As for me...
I get the kettle going..

Since we are tearing the back porch apart we get a lot of flies..
Ugh.. I hate them...

Anyway, I need to give the kitchen a good clean because we haven't been here for awhile..

I think a nice cup of tea is in order, eh?

After all that cleaning this is a good place to drink it.. smile..

We need some supper, too..
I usually bring the main stuff to make meals here but the basics are always in the cupboards..

I guess we will have a salad.. (as usual..)

I brought some parsley...
Do you like parsley and garlic salad dressing?

I always enjoy setting the old harvest table here..

As you know, these  dishes are special as they once belonged to a farmer's wife we loved...

Just a regular tossed salad...

And one of our faves..

Spaghetti Puttanesca

I have pasta only once a week now.. I guess this is it..
smile...

An old rocker sitting in the living room...

The sun shining in the old china cupboard glass...

Well, it is time to go home..
Where is Terry, Sam...

Which way did he go????
grin..

The wind is howling here today..

See my hair blowing.. Straight up.. grin..

How I love the wind..
It blows so much more here than at home..

I need to  sit in the truck or Terry would not quit working..

Now he is cleaning the stream that flows from our spring..

I wish I had half of his energy..

He needs to stop and go home though but I enjoy sitting in the warm truck and listening to the wind..
If we lived here I would need to put a sleeping porch on..
The wind howls and you can hear the brook rushing by..
sigh... zzzz... smile...

The sun is setting out over the barn..

The old place will sit quiet and still while the wind whistles  through the cracks of the barn  ...

The fire will go out in the old stove...

Until we come back again..

Thank you sweet Lord for a lovely day together here at this old place that we count as blessing..

Hope you enjoyed your visit..
Looking forward to hearing from you..

Hugs from an old farm here in Eastern Canada..

A fine day to make some soap...

Good evening everyone..

This is a little view I have in the mornings after my prayer time ...

The old apple orchard out back still does not have any leaves..
This is our Canadian Spring, though..
I like it just the way it has always been.. smile..
It will be hot soon enough..

Then I go over and pour myself a nice hot cup of coffee..
It was such a beautiful morning to wake up to today...
Do you notice anything different?  smile..

My sweet husband helped me get the new curtains hung..

Remember, I picked them up at the thrift store last week..
I am thinking that I will need to get some kind of blinds..
A nice change anyway and a frugal one at that..

Here is a pic of a little of our country side for you ..

My husband grew up just a bit past the barn you see there with the silo...

And do you see the distant hills.. That is where our old farm is ..
We hope to go over for a few days next week..
Lord willing..

I have had the flu this past week and couldn't go..
Next week, though, we hope to go up and I will make dinner and Terry will work on the back porch.. It is still not finished..
All in due time, I guess..

I did get some soap made..

Just a small batch of Rosemary ..

I was downstairs in my workshop and found a block of glycerin ...

Here is the recipe I used..
3 cups of shredded glycerin soap base
1/4 cup of distilled water
1 1/2 tsp. rosemary oil
1/2 tsp. lavender oil
1 tsp. pulverized dried rosemary
Mix the glycerin and water in a bowl and heat in microwave at 20 second intervals until melted..
Add oils and herbs and mix..
Place in soap molds..
A double batch made 5 large bars of soap..

Here it is Saturday evening and tomorrow is the Lord's Day AND my mother's birthday..My step fathers was on Monday..

We are planning on taking them to dinner at their favorite restaurant after church.. smile..

Have a blessed day, dear hearts.

Friday Evening Treat...

Good Evening ..

Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight..

Another weekend has rolled around.. Here in Eastern Canada we are having mild temps..
Not much green grass yet, though..
We did have a fire on this morning but we let it go out..

I thought I would share a recipe with you that is nice to have on hand...

Since it is Friday night and we are not going out I thought I would make us a treat..

It is a Brownie Mix...

I have had this for awhile written in one of my idea books..
I know I found it on the web but probably at least a year ago..
Before Pinterest.. smile..

Anyway...
You mix it all up and then make a pan when you want one..

BROWNIE MIX..
4 c. flour
6 c. sugar
3 c. cocoa (Some recipes say 2 1/2 c.)
4 tsp. baking powder
3 tsp. salt
2 c. shortening

I put this all in my kitchen aid..

Mix up really well..
Then store in a sealed type container..
I use a vintage flour canister..

As you can see it is almost full..

When you want to make up a pan..
Mix..
2 c. mix
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup of nuts or chocolate chips..
Combine and put in a greased 8 inch pan..
Bake in 350 degrees F.
20 minutes..

These are yummy..
Sometimes I spread chocolate icing on them or
serve them with a scoop of ice cream and a bit of Hersey's chocolate sauce...

What are you all doing this lovely evening?
Thanks for dropping by and for your lovely comments...

God bless..

Here is a little poem by one of my favorite poets..

Grace At Evening

For all the beauties of the day,
The innocence of childhood’s play,
For health and strength and laughter sweet,
Dear Lord, our thanks we now repeat.

For this our daily gift of food
We offer now our gratitude,
For all the blessings we have known
Our debt of gratefulness we own.

Here at the table now we pray,
Keep us together down the way;
May this, our family circle, be
Held fast by love and unity.

Grant, when the shades of night shall fall,
Sweet be the dreams of one and all;
And when another day shall break
Unto Thy service may we wake.

A little touch here and a little touch there...

Greetings to you all this evening..

Did you know the hockey playoffs are on??
Do you have a hockey fan in your family?
I do...

By the time they are over I will be quite tired of it all.. smile..

And to top it all off I have a famous cousin who plays for the Boston Bruins...
He is a bit of a spitfire, I think.. Some says it runs in the family.. smile..
He is a good player, though.. grin..

Anyway....
I thought I would go around the house and take a few pics for you..
Just a few little quaint touches...
Hope you enjoy...

Lots of old books in this house... smile..

And several bird's nests..
My husband brought this one in to me the other day..

Violets are one of my fave flowers..
If it has a violet on it then I usually love it...

An olde pin cushion from my dear friend, Julia..
I wrote about her HERE...
 Remember...

Under Two Flags...
I bought this book for it's cover.. grin..

This little book is called the Acadian Album..

It is an autograph album that belonged to a girl called Annie..
1888..
Several verses are signed from Mass. USA but then there
are verses written from Salisbury, N. B. where I grew up and some are from  Lewis Mountain which is about 5 minutes from here..
I forget where I bought this..
A $5.00 tag is still on it so it must have been a yard sale..
oh dear...

Another beautiful little treasure..
So old...
See the blanket it is lying on.. It is on a window seat in one of the spare rooms.. My step father gave it to me..
His s first wife made it from a real sheep's fleece..
I treasure it, too..

An old french ivory brush and an alarm clock...
I love old clocks... smile..

And an old letter from William..
Precious..

A little hand stitching I did..
Are you a kindred spirit?? smile..
If you love old stuff like this then I would say we may be..

I hope you liked these little touches...
It's the little things that make a house a home..
Or so my Mom always tells me.. smile..

Thank you so much for stopping by ...
I loved having you.. I hope you leave me a wee note.. smile..

Take care my dears...

Talking about families....

Hello everyone..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight..

We have had a lovely day here ..
Terry has been working away on our deck..
I will be so excited to get it all redone..
Then I will hopefully do my Keepers homework.. smile..

I thought I would just chat about something that has been on my mind ..

I was thinking about Easter and the lovely time we all had together here and I remembered that I had not mentioned a sort of ritual that my Mom and I have.

You might find it interesting.. smile...

As you all know my Mom is still with us and a going concern.. She may be slowing down a bit but still very vital and interesting..
She loves people and she loves the Lord and her family..
Mom and my Step-Dad came  to the Easter dinner...

They had a wonderful time with everyone especially the grandchildren... They both love them and my Step Father has been around quite some time now and not a stranger..

As I was saying Mom and I have a ritual..

The day after our family dinner we will call each other on the phone and the first words are about the wonderful day we all had together..
We then talk about the grand kids and how they are all growing so much..
She likes to tell me some of the things the kids say to her..
We talk about how well the five grandsons get along so well and how they all love their uncles and Sammi. (the dog)..
And we mention how well the kids and their spouses look and as always she talks about how tasty the dinner was and could she have my recipe for the salad..

It is always positive and funny...

And if there is a little annoying factor about the day we can talk about it because it is always forgiven and forgotten..
Why?
 Because they are OUR family...
Hers and Dad's and Terry's and mine...

We love them and we have looked after them and we pray daily for them...
And if there is anyone else in this world that I can share stuff about my family with it is my Mom...
Because they are hers, too... And she will understand the same way I do...
No, they are not perfect.. No family is except to our own eyes...

You can be sure that before the conversation is over my Mom will mention how my Dad would have loved the kids and how someone reminds her of him and how we miss him...

FAMILIES..

Just like this picture of old dishes...

All lovely.. All different..
But when blended together they make a beautiful picture..

I am just so thankful to still have my Mom and to enjoy this little ritual together.. And I thank God for my wonderful family...

Thank you so much for your sweet visits and comments..
I know...
I get a bit sentimental at times but  you can just blame it on my cold or some other silly thing..

Probably because  I am lonesome for a few days after they all go home...

God bless...

Keepers of the Home meeting and Homework..

Hello my dears..

This post is about our Keepers of the Home meeting this past Saturday..

We always have a blessed time...

This meeting was a bit different as one of our Keepers invited us to her home to have our meeting...

We enjoy doing this once in awhile..
Thank you, Melody... oxox

Here are Melody (whose home we were in) and Steph who is helping with the breakfast..

Melody had everything ready for us..
Lovely vintage plates that she knows we all love.. smile..

Susan shares some good tidings with us..
God is so faithful...

We all helped with breakfast and then had some wonderful fellowship.. Sharing God's blessings the past month..
After refilling our coffee cups we moved on to the lesson...

The lesson concerned our prayers and aspirations for the best place on earth..

Our homes...

We discussed our THRESHOLDS...

It is the first place of welcome to our homes but it also  provides the protection for our family..
Here we can go in and close the door on the world and provide a haven for our dear ones..

We noted that this is the place that makes us available or not to others..

We also talked about the fact that this is where we make our first impressions with the outside world..

How do we come across when we answer the knock at our door?.. Are we Christ like in our welcome?..
Is our threshold neat and tidy?...
Attractive?

We also decided that the main thing is to welcome Jesus not only into our homes through the doorway but also through the doorways of our hearts as the most welcome of guests…

We looked up some Biblical references...

Such as John 10 - 9
Jesus Christ is the door...

Exodus 12-7, Psalms 141-3, Deut. 11-20.
The doorway is mentioned many times in the Word..

Then we looked over our homework and everyone had a lovely journal... I was proud of them all.. They are enjoying this, too..

Our homework this month is concentrated on our DOORWAYS...
So with that in mind we made some nice welcome wreaths..

This is our friend Jackie..
I believe she is giving me some lovely instructions.. smile..

Here are a few of the wreaths..

I posted a couple of pictures last post..
I think I missed a couple of the wreaths but anyway, you get some idea of our activities...
Just wingin it...
This is Jesse's wreath...

Well, my dears that is the gist of it all..

We did have a blessed day..

When one of the dear girls told us that this was the best day of her month and another added that she looks forward to this day from one meeting to the next my heart filled up..

As I was leaving a dear little whisper in my ear..
Thank you. Faye  for praying for us..

It was my turn to whisper, "Thank you, Jesus"...

I so needed those words of encouragement and only He knew it..

He is always on time...
Right?

The homework is ready and I will email it out to you..

Could you please let me know if you would like it..

Just leave a comment with your address or email me..
OK?

Thanks so much for visiting..
Love hearing from you all..
