    1. Hello.. Thanks for dropping by.. I use the onion skins along with herbs in cheesecloth in soups to flavor plus darken the color naturally and also for stewing chicken and such..

  10. Hello there......You know I love your kitchen! What I really love is that you always have all this wonderful food prepared in your house! How often do you grocery shop? I hate taking time out of my day to go grocery shopping. Your white bowl with the veggies in it and ...is that pepperacini (sp?) that is added to it. What dressing do you use for that. Looks very good! Faye, you do so much! Is there anything about being a homemaker that you really don't like?

    1. Hi Sue.. So glad you are such a faithful follower of this blog.. Let's see... We get groceries once a week but generally just the sales and stock up on them some if they are good buys.. Each week we buy fresh herbs and greens for salads and anything we have run out of.. I try new recipes every week so usually there are a couple of items for it that I don't have. That is our town day as we call it.. The white bowl is Quinoa salad which is a grain and delicious.. And yes there are things I don't like to do.. Although I love to cook I am not too keen on the cleaning up.. Terry just bought me a dishwasher last Fall which I had not wanted for the last twenty years but now I must say that I love it.. Ironing is not anything that I do much of anymore, either.. I am a booky person so there are tons of books around which can be messy,, smile.. I would love to have an immaculate house like my daughter but it is not in the genes.. grin.. How about you?xo

  16. Your kitchen always looks so cosy and welcoming. I wondered if you were collecting the onion skins for dyeing something so was interested to read in your comment that use use them for added flavour. I usually leave the skins on red onions that I pop in when roasting a chicken it makes a nice dark gravy. I love your idea and will start saving mine too. I hate to waste anything. I love quinoa and have a bit of an obsession for dill pickled gherkins at the moment too. I love your little rabbit chopping board and collection of tins. Thank you so much for letting us into your kitchen, it's such a homely place to be.
