Life at the Lakes.. Such a blessed day..

Good Evening everyone..

Here is another Monday..
My favorite day as I always say..
Another week so full of potential..

This week certainly promises that...

Today was a busy day after our lovely weekend..
Doing some pickles and opening the shop.
I didn't close until after six as folks kept coming in.. smile..

To top off a lovely day I had a phone call from a very special family who live in Wisconsin..
We so love the Mayo family who have become such friends through our blogs...
So sweet of you to call, Lori..

I promised to share our little day cation with you all..
It was called LIFE AT THE LAKES which was in the Cambridge Narrows area of our province..

Terry and I arose early.. grin..
I made and wrapped up a couple of breakfast sandwiches and coffees and away we went..

It was a perfect sunny day..
Thank you, Lord..

Our first stop when we arrived was to visit the Library and get a flyer locating all of the fun things to do..
They had books on sale so we picked up 9 of those for $5.00..

Then we stopped here...

I have to admit that this was the highlight of my day..
You all know how I love herbs and this sweet couple were so knowledgeable and friendly..
The herbs were beautiful...

With culinary beds and medicinal and so many kinds..
They knew their stuff and even brought me a bag to keep my stash in that he kept letting me smell..
I didn't want to waste a speck.. smile..

The first thing I asked was if I could buy a big bunch of basil..
Ours did not turn out hardly and it would be hard to get through the Winter without my pesto..
He was so kind to go and pick me a bag while she showed us so much more..
Her husband came down and invited us to go up to the upper field and view this wonder of nature..

A set of twin albino deer..
Isn't that awesome?
It was the first time that Terry and I had saw any like this although I have heard of them..

After buying basil, homemade Herbes de Provence and a cookbook
(treasures)
we headed for the next site..

This lovely old house is open to the public for tours and tea..
It is the Robinson House and is full of treasures..

We enjoyed the tour so much..
The house has so many original antiques and wallpapers..

Some of them were simply beautiful but this sewing machine vignette was my favorite..

And then my sweet husband treated me to this wonderful lunch which was cooked by professional chefs..

Cucumber Sandwich on a Veggie Roll and Creamed Veggie Soup..

I had a lovely pot of tea and Terry and I shared a trifle.. yumm!
They had rose vases at each table..

Then on to a lavender and hops farm..

Don't you love lavender?

After we were done there we took a nice long drive back here to the cottage..

We went on 3 different  ferries..
That was fun..
The countryside is simply beautiful..
The day was just right in temperature with a nice breeze..
We saw some of my favorite farm animals..

Isn't that the dearest thing?
We even ran into several friends enjoying the same day as we did.
We also stopped at a farmers market and picked up a few goodies..
All in all a very wonderful day spent with the man of my dreams..
God is so good to us..
I am thankful..
This morning it was back to normal except breakfast was a wee bit better..

Did you ever have this for breakfast?
Take the top off of the tomato and squeeze out the juice and seeds and then chop it up quite small..
Put it in a frying pan with a bit of butter and a drop of olive oil..
Saute the tomato and shredded basil a bit and then add a couple of eggs with salt and pepper..
Scramble it all up together and serve with a basil leaf on top..
So good..

Well, dear hearts that is all for tonight..
I have a bunch of garlic scapes to pickle in the morning as I did not get them all done today..
I need to go to bed so good night all ...
Thanks for visiting and hope to hear from you..
Love and Prayers..
Faye...

Saying Good bye and Hello ...

Hello my dears..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth today..
Hope you are all having an awesome weekend..
Here it is almost mid August..
Can you believe it?

We had Supper outside again tonight..
That is one of my favorite Summer simple pleasures, I think.. smile..

We have had a lovely but busy week..

Some sweet old friends have been camping here in St. Matins this week so have had a few fun times with them along with keeping the shop open most days..

At the first of the week our daughter, Shonda and her family finally got moved to their new home...

Here she is last Thanksgiving saying good bye to us at her home then..
But this is the new one..

Not a very good pic, I am afraid but you can see it is totally different from the one they have just left..

We dropped by there to pick up a couple of things that Shonda had given me and her Dad walked down to the boys camp..
Can you see him down there by the trees..

I must admit that there was a tear in my eye as I stood there and watched the sweet family of Canadian Geese that have returned here for several years..

As I remembered the many beautiful times we as the Henry family have shared at this lovely place along with David's family, too..

We have watched our grandsons grow from wee boys to now being teenagers..

We celebrated several Family Days here with the pool and then Christmas and Thanksgivings..
Birthdays and just happy times..

As I stood there with the wind blowing off the lake and the drizzle of rain I prayed for the new family that would be moving in..
That God would bless them with love and joy and give them many happy memories that we have all shared in this dear house...

We thought we would drop by her new one and were surprised to find Trevor and his family visiting, too..

When we left I snapped this one through the rainy windshield..
They are in there making more happy memories ...
I am sure this will be a place of joy, also..

They have many different views of this lovely river and Shonda will soon have it all organized and beautiful..

When she does I will show you a few pics of inside..

We thank our Lord for all the blessings on our family and for each home of our 3 children that God will bless and keep them..
That each grandchild will be taught that God is the most important facet of their lives and that He brings joy and peace into a home..

Well, sweet ladies this is about all for tonight..

This is what we had for supper..

The days of enjoying the BBQ will soon be over so I keep it humming.. grin..
We seem to eat a lot of chicken and potatoes and salad, eh?
I think I need to get a new menu..

Thank you so much for visiting and your sweet sweet notes..
I so enjoy them all..

Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow..
We are having a little day cation and going to
Life at the Lakes..

I will tell you all about it next time, Lord willing..

God bless...

Midsummer ...

Hello everyone..
Hope you all had a great weekend..

Just sharing some pics of the last few days..
So hard to believe that August is here and Summer is half over..
It seems such a short season here in Maritime Canada..
I love this one and always try to hold onto it by the shirt tail.. grin..

I have made a few more batches of jams..
Raspberry and more strawberry ones..
Also some banana breads and a recipe I concocted for Mango Coconut muffins...
I will try and give you the recipe next time as tonight it is late and I just wanted to check in with you all..

So blessed to go home this past weekend...
I had not been home for six weeks although Terry gets there quite often..
It felt so good to be there and sleep in our water bed...smile.
And attend our own church..
Our grandsons were quite surprised when we walked in ..
We are enjoying going to church with our daughter's family, of course but there is no place like home, eh?

Terry picked me a bunch of Queen Anne's Lace in Moncton when we went in after church for dinner..
Another batch of jelly coming up tomorrow, hopefully..

We arrived back here in St. Martins about noon and I opened the shop.. About an hour later we had a huge rain storm..
My... did it ever rain and then the sun came out..
The weather is so different this year, eh?

Well, dear hearts this is all for tonight..
So glad to meet those of you who have stopped by the shop..

Just think ...
In about five or six weeks we will be going home..
I always start looking forward to that about this time of year;
when the Poor Man's Orchid comes in bloom..
They are the ones around the bird feeder..
You can only find them here in St. Martins area but I took some home a few years ago and they just pop up everywhere.. smile.

Take care and thanks so much for stopping by..
God bless...

A new camera...

Good Evening everyone..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight..

We have just had supper on the deck as it is such a lovely day..
We love to BBQ on nights like this..
I scurried around a picked a little posy of herbs to grace our plain little salad..
They make all the difference in the taste of iceberg lettuce if that is all that happens to be on hand.. smile..
So looking forward to new green bean...

Anyway..
Yesterday, we went to the city to do some shopping and bought a new camera..
It did not cost a lot but so far I love it..

Terry mentioned that I should wait and buy a really nice one but I did not agree..
I want something that I can operate and is not too complicated..
My picture taking is only for this little blog and ourselves so I think this one will do just fine..

After work we delivered a table that I sold today  to a sweet friend who lives up the way..
That first pic of the Bay is taken from her back yard..
Her family room has one wall that is all windows and looks out on this..
Lovely, eh?
And she enjoys it all year round..
She is not one of us summer residents.. smile..

The old bear in the top pic has been sold to a girl from Ottawa who summers here, too..
She has named him ... Charles.... smile..

And then just some random pics of the shop..
The deodorants are ready for those who came in looking for them..

And the last pic of the Bay is from our back stoop tonight..

Well, dear ladies I guess I will go for now..
Purchased a couple of new mags yesterday and anxious to give them a look..

Terry just came in and threw me a present...
A bag of Grand Manan dulse..
So delicious...
I have been craving it for a week now..
The sweet man..

Thank you so much for dropping by during this busy time of year..
I so enjoy having you all and reading your sweet notes..

Take care and God bless..

Just checking in..

Good Evening, my dears..
Just having a cup of tea and thought I would drop you all a little line..

Time is passing here by the Bay very quickly.
Old |Home Week is over and it was lovely and busy..
A couple of rain days but the show went on.. grin..
Saw so many old friends and customers.
I told Terry that when I got home at night I was tired from talking so much..
Hard to believe, eh?  ....

Anyway, there is not much new..

Today I opened the shop and made some homemade deodorants...
grapefruit and lavender..
Also did up a few small cosmetic bags which are kind of cute..

The thing is that I broke my best camera..
Now I need to buy another but in order to do that I need to go shopping and that does not seem to happen much lately..
Soon, though..

We had a good day yesterday..
Church in the morning and evening and then I spent the afternoon with Shonda as Terry and the boys went up country for awhile.

It was very exciting as they have sold their house and bought a new one...
They picked up the keys and we had a grand tour..
So lovely but so different from her other one..

She is so excited and I am sure Dave is too but not quite so vocal.. smile..
Today.. I answered the phone and she is screaming  saying rather loudly..
I AM IN MY NEW HOUSE... LOL..
Yuppppp..
She is excited..

So happy for them..
God has been so good to them and we are all thankful for his blessings..
They both work so hard though and this is one of the rewards..

I will hopefully post some pics for you to see once she is organized..

Well, dearies..
I am headed to bed early again..
I don't know about this old age thing..
Go to bed early...
Get up early..
Still tired..
Oh well... Still standing..

Thank you so much for your sweet visit..
So appreciate you all..
God bless..

Another Summer Weekend..

Hello dear hearts..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight..
Another weekend has passed and we are beginning another week of Summer..
Love it so much..
We have been having glorious weather ..
Thank you, Lord..
A bit of rain and then a few sunny days..
Some are hot and others are lovely and breezy..
Today, I wore a sweater at the shop but by late afternoon it was a bit warm..
Just right, really..

We are having Old Home Week here in St. Martins and there are more people about..
So happy to once again see some sweet customers from past Summers..

On Saturday we had the Village Yard Sale..

My Mom and Step-Father had several tables set up across the street from my shop and had a great time..
Mom enjoys seeing people from her childhood and lots of relatives and he just plain loves selling stuff..

They were tired but wanted to back home that night because of their cat.. grin..

We put some stuff in the room that Terry worked on at the shop..
It is not done but it will have to do until Fall..
There is an antique carriage, an old drop leaf table, some enamel ware and such..

We have been enjoying a bit of BBQ cookery  with a new potato recipe from HERE..
( I left out the butter) in the evenings and enjoying our Rhubarb Cocktail Drinks from HERE..
We both love our mason jars for drinks..
Bought the covers and straws when we were across..

Oh and we now have Herbal Tea for sale at the shop..
Perhaps someone will like to sip away on a nice cuppa while browsing about.. smile..

Last night when we came back from church we drove to the end of our street and looked at the gorgeous moon shining across the sea..
What beauty God has granted us..
So thankful..

Well it has been a busy day and I am ready for bed..
Thanks so much for visiting..
Just a few looks into our life here in Maritime Canada on these lovely Summer days..

I love your comments as you know and we will chat again soon, I hope..

Take care, my friends..

Hugs..
