Catching up..

Hello everyone..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth tonight..
Hope all is well with you dear ladies..

We are having wonderful Spring like weather here in the Maritime Provinces.. I only wore a sweater today when we went into the city as it was so warm..
Snow is melting and the wind is blowing and we even had a bit rain today..

Yesterday, I had a couple of friends in for lunch..
It was great catching up as we have not been together for awhile..
Lots of talking, laughing and of course a bit of eating..
Nothing fancy...
Just home made tomato basil soup, artisan bread, salad and dressing..
I promised to share the recipes with them here so...

Bread... HERE..

Home made Dressing..
6 T. Canola oil
1 clove of garlic, squashed and put in whole..
2 T. apple cider vinegar
1 tsp. Dijon Mustard
Sea salt and freshly ground pepper to taste..
Whisk all together and pour over a mixed salad.
This is best if you let it sit at room temp for a few hours..

Thank you for dropping by..
This has been a busy week and I will do better next post, I hope..

Tomorrow night I plan on attending a book launching and am a bit excited..
The author is a local and her name is Beth Powning..
It should be interesting.. smile..

Well, dear hearts have a great week and I do have a few more interesting things for you soon..
God bless.. xo

  4. Hi Faye! Thanks for stopping by my blog and for your prayers, I am so thankful! Yes, this winter is dragging on and on here in Nova Scotia, with another snowstorm forecast for Sunday. It was lovely today though! it looks like you had a wonderful time today, and I am going to try out that bread recipe! I also love that tall jar in the first photo, it looks like it has cocoa in it? Oh I just love old jars! I see your spinning wheel in the corner of a photo too, I need to find a spot upstairs for mine, I have one with an oxblood stain on it, but it has been kept downstairs in my basement instead of up in front of my living room window and I miss it being there! I look forward to all your blog posts!

  5. Hello Faye Dear, I have been thinking about you and how your weather has been doing. We had a pretty good week here this week ....much warmer weather and WE WENT FOR A RIDE. !!!!! Jim helped me prop my feet up to keep them elevated and I had the best time. There still is a lot of snow here.....but sun was so warm and bright> It was 57 degrees. I should have taken my camera but I was lucky to get this old girl in the car!!!!! I love to read all that you are doing on your blog....such as making your bread and tomato basil soup. I made tuna noodle casserole and who would take pics of that.......BUT if YOU did and you talked about it, it would be so delightful and interesting!!! As to the laughs I can see...it looks like your friends has a wonderful, happy time together with you. It is so good to have friends and family. Say hello to Terry for me. I feel like I know him....I have read your blog for so long. Did he get all the drive ways plowed with your son?

Well, God be with you, Dear Heart.

  19. Hello Dear,
I was wondering if maybe you could tell me what you call the jar in the first pic in front of the wooden board. I have one of these old brown jars and I hang it off of my antique wagon wheel over my land. I often wonder what it might have been used for and maybe I could repurpose it.
    Thanks

    1. Hi Jessica.. The short brown jar was used for cheese, I believe.. You can find them in thrift shops here and some have a cheese company name on them.. The large one is kind of like an antique mason jar and I really don't know what it is for.. I use the small one for bacon fat and the large one is for odds and ends.. Whatever I happen to need it for .. smile..
Thanks so much for visiting.. xo

  22. Hi Faye, I seem to be having trouble commenting tonight. This is my 3rd try. Anyway I had planned on going to Beth's book launch with a friend. I am a big fan and met her last Fall at a local book store where she was doing a reading. She was marvellous but after finding out there was over 500 people at her last launch we decided not to go. It is a fair drive at night and neither of us are keen on driving home late at night. You will have to tell me all about it. Have fun.
    Hugs
    Mary

  23. Hello Faye...just being inquisitive...(nosey), but is there a fireplace behind your sofa? I see what at first I thought was a tv, but now believe to be a woodburner to the right of said sofa? I do love fireplaces, and couldn't quite understand when all that snow was blowing about outside why you wouldn't want access to a warm fire. My chair is always the closest one to our woodburner...mind you it's me who tends it mostly. Take care. Jackie. x

  24. Hi Jackie... I can understand why you would think that.. smile.. Yes, that is a fireplace where we can make a fire to the left and behind the sofa is an woodbox that goes through to the livingroom where there is another fireplace right behind the one you see.. We do have them on sometimes but usually our house even though it is quite large is very warm.. In the basement we have a wood furnace which heats the house very well.. When Terry mentioned putting some wood in the fireplace I said no as the sun was shining in the front windows and it was pretty warm here.. We do have a lot of snow but the temps during the days are much milder so we don't need as much heat..Thanks so much for your visit, Jackie.. xo

    1. Ohhh! Sounds interesting. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I've had the woodburner roaring away today. We obviously have damper air here so though it was 6c outside, the wind and rain made it feel much chillier. I've been working on tidying the living room. Pictures are hopefully crawling from phone to ipad now! Jackie. x

Your rooms are beautiful and I especially love your tabledisplay with the wooden tool box. I have some pitchers that will look great in the box my nephew made for me at Christmas!! Thank you for the great idea!
