In my Kitchen and a Pinterest issue...

Good Evening, my dears..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth this evening...

Hope you all are enjoying the month of March thus far..
I think the weather is much better here in New Brunswick compared to February...
Spring is surely on it's way and you can feel and smell it in the air..
We still have a huge amount of snow but it is melting.. smile..
Just sharing a few foodie pics with you today..
The above is just a simple chicken soup..
Made with leftovers...I am trying to use up Winter supplies..
Frozen zucchini in this pie..

You can find the recipe HERE..

Here  is another soup for another day..
Using up more zuchinni..

But this was a fresh one that was used..
Here is the recipe.. (which was in the Walmart free magazine)
Make up a pound of hamburger or ground turkey into meatballs ..
I just added an egg, bread crumbs, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper...
In 5 cups of water add an envelope of onion soup mix, and a large can of diced tomatoes and a 1/4 tsp. chili flakes..
Stir well and bring to a boil..
Add your meatballs and they will cook right in the soup...
Add 1 chopped zuchinni and simmer away until meatballs are cooked.. 15 minutes or so..
You can spice this up in your own way but it really does not need much..

Then I found this little quiche breakfast recipe on YouTube and it works..
You can find that recipe HERE..
And...
This delicious chocolate zuchinni bread...
Wallmart free magazine, also..

Chocolate Zuchinni Bread..
1 small zuchinni unpeeled
1 1/2 cups of flour
1/2 cup of cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. white sugar
1/2 cup of butter or margarine
2 eggs
3/4 cup of milk..
350 degrees F. oven
Grate zuke using large holes on grater.. Place into a clean tea towel and squeeze out juice..
Set aside..
Mix batter in the creamery style and add zuke last..
Place in a greased loaf pan and bake about 1 hour..
Rest 10 minutes..
Turn on rack and cool..
I only had 1 small piece of this but Terry loved it..
I am not a chocolate cake fan but this was so moist and good..

Well, my dears that is my foodie post and here are a few pins that are on my Pinterest boards that I particularly enjoyed this week..

This one with the place setting is pinned from this blog when we were at the farm.. ..

And about Pinterest..

I found out something I did not know before..

Over the weekend I found a board that was exactly to my taste and pinned away to my heart's content having no idea that I was doing anything wrong..

That came later when I received a comment from the lady whose board the pins came from and she asked me not to take so many pins and to limit myself to 10...

To be honest, I thought she was joking and commented back..
Are you serious??
I didn't hear back from her but decided perhaps she was..

I Googled Pinterest rules and found a forum where some felt that taking x amount of pins was breaching pinterest etiquette, shall we say...

So...
I erased my comment and sent a new one apologizing for my error and mentioning that I do not care how many pins anyone pins from me and just didn't realize..
Well, I have not heard back from her but was wondering if you feel that way, also..

I have ladies pin dozens of my pins and count it as a compliment..
I mean that they are not mine..
I just saw them and pinned them..
I thought that was the idea..
I know it takes time but really who cares?

What is your opinion

I love Pinterest but I do it in spurts..
I may go weeks and barely look at it and then take a couple of hours and go at it..

I believe that is the first time that I found a board that I related to so much but now I dare not pin from there again.. grin..
Oh well.. Come si come sa...
Right?

Thank you, dearies for dropping by...

Welcome to the new followers and all your sweet comments are much appreciated..

Take care now and God bless..

  1. I love your blog, my goodness, it is so cozy and warm and welcoming! I saw those recipes in the Walmart magazine, I was pretty impressed with it this time around. To me, it wouldn't matter how many times someone pinned something, I think that is sort of strange actually, to ask you to limit the pins you chose. I had no idea about that at all!! I bet I have stepped on more than a few toes! Still very icy in Nova Scotia ( down near Halifax anyway) but yesterday, it did feel like a change was afloat!

  2. As always your soups and cakes and everything looks so delicious! I do not like the direction Pinterest is taking. I have over 4000 followers, so I do spend way too much time pinning! I do not like pin hogs. I had one woman pin 159 pins at one time! Must admit it annoyed me as she did not follow me after that! I also do not like that now Pinterest chooses pins for you, and you know longer see followers pins! Very annoying. That ruins all the fun

    1. I just noticed that on Pinterest, that they are choosing the pins that you see. I was thinking the same thing-I would rather see the pins of those I chose to follow!

    2. I do not like them choosing my pins, either and I did follow that lady's board right at the beginning because I was scared I would not find her again but now I would rather just not.. smile.. No big deal .. I just thought this was all rather interesting as I had not had that view of it all... xo

  3. I don't know a real lot about Pinterest, Faye. If I see something on someone's board I go to the original blog or website and pin from there to make sure I am pinning correctly but I didn't realise there was any etiquette involved. I know that I won't use someone else's photos without permission on my blog because I read an article once from a blogger who was sued by someone for using their photo on her blog. I just try to use my own photos now. There is a lot to learn with blogging, isn't there?

  4. Your soups always look so good Faye, and i am going to try that Zucchini Pie soon :) I don't do Pinterest so don't know about the rules, but like you I think it would be a compliment for someone to want a lot of yours. Have a blessed night.

  5. Hi Faye, This post is beautiful and so delicious.. I want to try everything!!!
Well about pinterest, that is something that I never heard of and absolutely never realized.. Most all the pins relate back to the originator so they get credit anyway.. I have found so many of my creations pinned I can hardly believe it... but really I don't care either.. as I know how much work it takes to do things so if the person wants to put the work in, they can. I kind of find it flattering too.
The things you do and created must be so enticing to everyone that your work must be pinned all over Pinterest too. Those folks have good taste!!. xo

  6. Faye, thank you for all the wonderful recipes, I can't wait to try a few.
As for pinterest I had no idea there was a limit. I have had numerous pins from my boards and I have pinned numerous times from others, it's that the point of pinterest after all, to share?

  7. I've never heard anything about pinning too much. Honestly, it seems really crazy. As you said, they aren't ours to begin with. I think it just means you have the same taste. I wouldn't worry about it!

  8. Sounds like a bit of a fuss about very little! I had no idea there were rules and regs, not that I use Pinterest much anyway.

  9. I do like your blog Faye, it's charming, so homely, comfort to my tired eyes on a working day. I am a bit like you with Pinterest, I just occasionally zip in and out. Have a wonderful weekend. Woo xx

  10. Oh dear Faye...so you've become a pin-cher! I shouldn't worry. If that is the most that particular lady has to worry about in her life...well I'll swop with her for a bit! You fancy any of my pins just help yourself! Take care. Jackie. x

  11. Faye,
Thanks for sharing the zucchini recipes they look very interesting. I'll have to admit I never knew pinterest had any rules about what to take. To be honest, if I find myself talking more then three or four pins I usually end up following the person or the board they have I like. Personally I do not care who takes what from my boards, that's the idea of them being there to share. And if there is some sort of copyright Pinterest usually takes the pin down and informs you saying why they had to take it down and it's not your fault.

  12. Your food always looks so yummy!!
I had to laugh at the Pinterest story, as I just went through and pinned some of the pics you posted!
I didn't know there was such a thing as Pinterest "etiquette" oops...
Like you, I do not mind when people repin, that is what Pinterest is for. I just had someone repin a bunch of my sheep pictures, I never thought to be offended, my thought was, oh-glad she liked them :)

  13. Well...I'm kind of like you... with the Pinterest thing. Not on it that much... but occasionally. I have never heard of this "rule"... and I like you feel so "blessed" if someone finds something that I have done or made as PinWorthy! and I don't think I would care... like someone else said - the original pinner would get the credit anyway.
The best part of this whole thing is that the photos you pinned and shared with us - I thought they were of your house anyway (they are so YOU!) until I read they were just pins you liked.

Thanks for sharing all these yummy recipes...

  14. Thanks for the pinterest warning...I didn't know that either, honestly I don't even know if I understand it...lol...I would consider it a compliment if other's pin my pins. Better yet, pin something that I actually posted that I did. Your food looks amazing as usual. I think this is our last "cold" morning I hope till next fall. Blessings from Ringle

  15. that rule is news to me, but then I am not on pinterest much if at all. Strange world. I think like you I would think it was a compliment but I guess Pinterest has made a rule of it. I think you did the right thing and just brush it off.

  16. Hi Faye, I love your pins. As far as the pinterest ,if one doesn't want to be repinned then why is it there ? I use clipix.com for things I want to keep just for myself. There's a little padlock at the top of the board for this 😒 Check it out sometime.

  17. All your soups looks so good! I know nothing about pinterest. Jessica is on there a lot but I never have been able to get interested in it. I hope you have a great day and God bless.

  18. I have heard of this rule before, I am like you & think it is a compliment. I do know someone that was banned as she took a pin from a blog & the lady who took the photo did not want it on Pinterest with out saving that, then she complained & got her banned. I can not understand it really.
I am going to make the chocolate & we say courgette cake, it sounds so good.

  19. I found the same thing on Pinterest, people saying "Please don't power-pin or you will be blocked" I think it is just so goofy and says a lot about the person who is using free images from someone else that they want to control who can take them from their boards. I used to like Pinterest because everyone was so friendly and shared ideas and images, but it has gotten ridiculous. I always took it as a compliment if someone pinned from my boards, I never thought to try and block someone. It just seemed...silly. Keep your cheerful attitude and just let them be silly. Love the recipes, you always manage to make me want to get in my kitchen and cook. Have a wonderful day.

  20. I am on Pinterest and then I am off Pinterest. It depends on what time I have to do it. I have had people take quite a lot of mine. Isn't that what it is all about.....Sharing? I guess I had better go back and read the rules. I think I have been playing it all wrong. BTW, I told my Kim that I was sure it was okay to go and check out your Pinterest!

  21. I have never heard of such a thing on Pinterest. That is odd to me. I have had some come and pin quite a lot of mine and it seems a compliment. I would not worry about it!

  22. I so enjoy your blog Faye and was glad I was introduced through Stephanie at The Enchanting Rose. You always make me feel at home! I too feel that pinterest pins are not mine and I don't care how many someone takes. I am glad others enjoy things that interest me. Have a WONDER-ful day!

  23. I was so surprised to read about your experience on Pinterest. I would say that I spend a moderate amount of time on Pinterest & have never heard of that. I agree with all the previous comments.....I feel it's a compliment if someone else likes something I pinned & I'm very aware that I don't own them. I also don't like the new way Pinterest is doing things with choosing things they decide might interest me. I have changed my own way of doing things now in that I usually go to the boards of those I follow & just browse through them. And I'm sure my reaction would be just like yours...do I really want to follow a curmudgeon?! Life has too many real problems for me to get hung up on such shallow issues!

  24. Glad to hear your snow is melting, we are seeing grass once again and it is in the 40's today, they are saying 50's this weekend, how exciting!! I did not know that there was a limit to pinning, but if I find someone's that I like alot of them I just follow them that way I can get updates as they post and I pin the ones I really like, but that way you can always go back and just look through their postings at any time, that just surprises me that she said anything, other than if she was annoyed about getting so many emails from one person at once about being repinned. You were sweet to go back and say you were sorry for annoying her, but I still think it was funny that she said anything at all.

  25. Your food always looks soo YUMMY ! I dont do Pinterest so I cant say lol ! Thanks for sharing ,have a good weekend !

  26. Your food looks so wonderful. I love the photos you posted from Pinterest, however, I don't see the harm, as long as one links back. I don't do Pinterest, how sad that it would be such a big deal. I mean, geesh, her pics are lovely and I would imagine, she would be happy that one is showcasing them such as you did. Shrugging. You did the right thing, though, by sending her a corrected email. So sorry all that happened. I enjoyed the pics, none the less. Blessings

  27. Warm and cozy visit as usual. Hmmm seems she should be in the incognito mode. I always took it as a compliment too. No matter virtual or real world there will always be those with odd little things that they make bigger than they should. Oh to have the life were worring who pins to many is their biggest concern..smile.. Warm Blessings!~♥ Amy

  29. Hi Faye,
We are still waiting for some signs of Spring. We got another foot of snow yesterday here in southern New England. I am not sure when we will see the grass again. I did not know that about Pinterest. I don't really know that much about it either but just today I pinned quite a few from one person and have not heard anything negative yet. I guess I had better be more careful. Thanks for the info. I don't understand why it really even matters. It's just a picture....Keep warm and have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you for sharing these delightful recipes :0) I too have heard about the Pinterest thing. Havent had that issue myself as of yet... However, Ive actually seen on peoples Pinterest that Im visiting not to pin more than ten. I guess I dont understand that since isnt that what Pinterest is all about. And, Im with you.. I dont mind how many pins people pin from my Pinterest, I take it as a compliment! Have a lovely day :0) Marge

  34. Hi Faye, Everything looks so yummy and I am going to try a couple of them. As for pinterest I don't really do much on it although I always enjoy seeing "pins" that others do. I would think that lady would considerate it a compliment that you enjoyed her pins. There are all sorts of people in this world and life is too short to be so picky over something so trivial. I wouldn't give her another thought.
I feel Spring in the air and can't wait ...
    Hugs

  35. She was being silly. Pins are a collection of neat things we come across and an easy way to find our way back to the information. They are not her 'property'. Some people have a stingy streak I'm afraid.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks so much for the time you spend on making your blog. Everything is beautiful. (This is the first time I have seen it. I have never had that happen to me, but I also look at it as a compliment when someone likes my page. I don't think it is rude at all to pin even all of someone's pins if I like them (or if they like mine). I agree - it is the point of the website. They are not our images to dictate what happens anyways.

  37. Some people do not understand the internet and are perhaps looking for friction. I do feel sorry for them as they probably had unhappy experiences in life. At any rate, the pins don't go anywhere and are stored on a server somewhere. They are not depleted by people pinning them. Sometimes there are copyright issues but Pinterest will take back the pin and send out a message to anyone who has pinned it.
