Blog Quiz...

Hello dearies...

Well..
I must confess something which I think I have mentioned before and that is the fact that I am in a blog slump..

Which means that I find myself boring and feel that my posts are not what they should be..
Perhaps it is to do with Winter and all but anyway..

I was thinking that I have not done a little blog quiz for awhile and it will help me to see what direction I should go..

The followers have changed..
Google took away a lot of them but then there is the Face Book page, too..
I know several of the readers follow on FB regularly and leave their lovely comments but perhaps the audience has changed in the last while..

So, let's see how we make out with this and hopefully it will inspire me to change what should be changed and add what should be added and take away the stuff that should be taken..

Right?
Please be honest dear hearts or it won't help.. smile..
You can either copy and paste onto the comment section here or on FB or just put the number of the question and your answer..

Blog Quiz..
1.. What sex and what age group are you in?  20's, 30's etc..
2..Do you work outside of the home and what is your job?
3. Are you married and do you have children at home or empty nester's?
4.. What do find most interesting on the blog?  for example.. recipes, decor, crafts, farm day posts, herbal recipes, keepers of the home meetings, etc..
5.. Should I change the look or format of the blog?
6.. What format should I add?  surveys, pinterest posts, guests?
7.. Which posts do you prefer? home, farm or the cottage?
8. As a Christian blog would you like it to be more spiritual?
9.. Should I interact with you all with your comments..
This is something that I think I need to try to do and so sorry for not doing it before..
10.. Do you enjoy more pictures and less words or visa versa?

Well, that is all I can think of to ask.. If you have anything to add that is not on the list please include it..

I am so looking forward to hearing your opinions and please don't worry about offending me..
I just need to know which way I should go.

If you are a private person please just email me at
houseofhenry@hotmail.com
or leave me a message on Face Book..

It is the comments which provide the fuel for my blog writing and so I really need your help..

Thank you so much
Hugs..

  2. Faye, I like it just the way it is. I think anyone's blog should reflect your own personality and spirit and never worry about pleasing others. Just keep on being your own sweet self!!!

  4. I agree with the comments already posted. I read your blog for what I have already seen...recipes, spiritual comments, pictures, things about home, family. To answer a few of your questions, I am 70 & retired, a widow, a stay at home mom in my early days & then had a retail business with my husband for 18 yrs. until he passed away. I have 2 grown sons & 9 grandsons, one son & two grandsons live in other states.

I like it when you interact some with comments, but I don't think any of us would expect interaction on every comment. I personally think you have a good balance with pictures & words. Sometimes just the pics & a few words are fine. I think simplicity is good, but I would say just follow your heart.

We all follow you for who you are & how you do things...very homey. I can understand the "pressure" to make things better, but we love it as it is.

  8. I just love the beautiful photos of home life. I read but often have to speed read blogs because life is so busy. I work a job and run a shop. I think you have a sweet spirit. I personally try to answer all comments on my own blog but I wonder how much people have time to read replies unless they ask a question or something.

  9. I'm female, 43, married with one seven year old son. We homeschool, and I do not work outside the home.

I love the pictures and descriptions of your day the best, really dislike giveaways and surveys and things like that on a blog.

I think it's pretty as is, but I wouldn't object to you changing things up now and again (I do it often enough). Love your blog, so just keep on keeping on!

  10. I like your blog as it is. I enjoy reading about your farm and family, seeing the country roads and beautiful scenery of your area, and just connecting with a real down to earth woman who loves Christ and family.
I don't think you need to change. People today are changing and many want to live fast paced unconnected lives. You are a reminder to those of us who love the slow lane to keep focused on what is important. I am turned off by the bland, commercial blogs that are popping up. I want family, faith, and gentleness as my focus when I visit a blog. Don't be concerned with who reads, just write what's on your heart as you live your life for the Lord and family. That isn't dull--that's real and lots of us hunger for that today. I for one, would be sad to see you change. Your photos are lovely, your marriage an inspiration, your children and grandchildren are blessed with your example. We all love you.....

  15. I'm married, empty nester, 6th decade, live in the U.S. and like anything you publish. The ordinary day to day stuff is great for me. But I am a huge crafter and would welcome more crafting posts. No need imo to interact w/ comments b/c it takes a lot of time and publishing a post is time consuming it itself. I don't take the time to comment on every blog post you publish but I read all of them. I am just grateful you bother to share your life here b/c it enriches mine. If you change nothing, if you change something I'm sure I'll love it.

  18. Hi Faye....I love everything about your blog; I am 63, married, 3 children, 3 grandchildren, empty nesters. I have been at home for the past ten years and it can be a little tough financially, its the place I've been most content; I like the old ways and simple things in life; I love all your pictures although I must admit the farm pics and country drives are probably most favorite; I enjoy hearing and seeing pics of your keepers meetings; I wouldnt expect anyone to answer every single comment; I like the mixture of pictures and words, love the simplicity in your words; I like your blog set up exactly as it is; I always look forward to each and every post you make; if theres something you'd like to change on your blog, its your blog and you should do so I'm sure we will enjoy it; Personally, I love coming to this blog because of its simplicity, everyday life events, your family, pictures, it takes me back to a time I think a lot of us would like to see returned but at the same time, you are living each day in the present with your family and grandkids etc. Just keep doing what you're doing. :)

  26. I think it is that time of year isn't it, I feel a bit slumpy too as far as blogging, so I get it. Anyway, on with your questions!

1 - I am a lady in my, ahem, middle years!

2 - Yes and no, I work at a national trust property as a guide and I work at home for myself doing crocheting things.

    3 - yes, and no.

4 - I know it is a cliché, but everything as I like to find out about others lives and learn and see new things.

5 - I speak from experience, you should be yourself and have your blog as you want it, don't do it for others, do it for you and the readers will come!

6 - do what you like! do it for you. I will read no matter what even if I don't always have time to comment every time.

    7 - all of them!

8 - as per what I already said.

9 - this depends on time, I love to reply and love to get replies, but I don't always have time to reply and know that is the case for others too. However, I do try and visit all my commenters blogs and leave comments there.

10 - depends on the post, some lend themselves more one way or the other, don't stress about it, just do what comes naturally!

I don't suppose that is much help, but I hope it is. Really, people say it to me and it is true you must blog for yourself and do what you want to do because you have to be happy with it. If you want to write about something and no one else comments that doesn't matter as long as you enjoyed the post. If you want to chat more e-mail me! Hope you have a happy Easter! xx

  29. I read your blog because I am interested in learning how other women live in different areas. So your day to day activities are great reading for me! I am retired and an empty nester with grandchildren. I love to see pictures of the area in which you live since I think I would get a better understanding of your life patterns. I enjoy home and farm blogs equally since we all would be in a pickle without our farmers. Keep writing!

  31. Dearest Faye,
I am 52, married to a wonderful guy for almost 31 years. I have 8 children, and 4 grandchildren (so far!) We have homeschooled for about 26 years. I have always stayed home. I live in Dallas, Texas (big city) and have always dreamed of living in the country or in a small town. Which is one of the reasons that I LOVE your blog. I enjoy everything about you and your life and your posts. I like hearing about your farm and your cottage. You seem to have such a quiet sweet time with your hubby, going on country drives, fixing homemade meals for him, and watching him work outside. I love hearing about your Keepers' meetings and projects. I truly wish we had something like that down here, but we don't, so I enjoy hearing about your time with Keepers. I love the Lord and I appreciate how comfortable I feel with your blog, knowing that you love the Lord also. Your recipes are wonderful, and your pictures "take me away" to a gentler place. When I see a post of yours come through my email, I get excited and save your post for after I have read all my other emails, so that I can take my time reading your post and enjoying the photos. Faye, you definitely have a sweet and gentle spirit, and that is the way your blog is. DON'T CHANGE A THING. :-) Your blog is loved because it reflects your heart, which is precious. I don't think you need to respond to every comment, but occasionally is nice, though. Reading your blog and the comments makes me feel like I have a sweet group of like-minded friends, and also makes me wish I lived closer to you so we could have a good ol' chat over a cup of tea! :-)
Blessings to you and your family, and Happy Easter!
    xoxo

I enjoy your company so much and you have encouraged me to try new recipes, go for long drives, love and appreciate my friends and family even more and most of all.....strengthened my faith. I love your photos as well as your words.

  33. 1. 40s

    2. I work at home as a medical transcriptionist, and also run our family’s business, and sell merchandise on eBay.

    3. Married, children still at home, although they are 20 and 18 and will both be in college next year – can’t hardly believe it!

    4. I enjoy everything you share… your everyday posts are always inspiring! Just posts around your home, thoughts and quotes that bless you, recipes that you have tried… just life in general! That is what I found most blessing in following other ladies’ blogs, is what happens in their day to day life…

    5. Nope! Continue as you are… sharing your heart, what is on your heart, write from your heart! Don’t try to do what others are doing… you do what you do best! Each lady has their own style, and you have yours, and we love it!

    6. I’m not really a favor of guests. I like what you have to share, because it is real life… share pictures from pinterest or whatever if it interests you… this blog is an extension of YOU… keep it that way! (In my opinion) smiles!

    7. All of them… if it is part of your life, share it! If it is something that has blessed you, saddened you, made you happy, whatever… share it! My favorite blogs (you are one of them) is where ladies just share where they are at in their lives, and how the Lord helps them day to day!

    8. Sure… if it touches your heart, share it. I would think most ladies reading your blog are Christians, and if it is encouraging, thought provoking, uplifting… it is sure to be a blessing!

    9. I respond to each and every comment on my blog, and then I immediately click on that ladies’ blog link and visit her. I find this is good “blog” etiquette… if they have taken the time to visit me and comment, I would like to visit them, because I am blogging because of the friendships that have been fostered. It takes a little bit of extra time to do this, but because I really want to have the friendships, it is worth the extra time to visit the special ladies’ blogs who have taken the time to visit and share a comment with me.

I like pictures, I am just a visual person, and even if you only have a few pictures, it is still nice to see a picture of your bread or your cottage, or the scenery around you. I do so love getting to see pictures of my beloved New Brunswick!

Faye, I just want to say that blogging is a beautiful way to connect with other like-minded ladies, and to share what the Lord is doing in your life… and I love that I can connect with other ladies around the world who love the Lord Jesus and want to glorify Him in all they do. I love your blog, and who you are, your love for the Lord just shines through your posts and all you do… and you are an encouragement to visit! I hope my comments have helped you and encouraged you… keep on keeping on!

  35. Hello Faye, How could I have missed this blog. So, I am back to answer the survey. A survey is great! You get to know your people better and you may find a new idea to write about. I love your blog....as you well know! I would not change one itty bitty thing! Well, here goes:

5.Change the look or format of your blog? Absolutely not! Perfect as it is!

    6. I am not a crazy fan about guests. I guess I just like to read about the cottage, farm and home, all of your projects, big and small and your family!

    7. I have to admit that I get so wrapped up when you write about the home, farm and cottage. It is all so interesting to me. You write so well and I love your personality.

    8. I have to say that I so appreciate your Christian words and attitude just the way it is.

    9. Sure, I love to hear from you. You make me feel so good...like you are interested in my doings and I love to hear about yours. BUT.....it is not something that has to be done all the time. We all know how busy you are and you are involved in alot...so I would not expect to hear from you all the time. I am sure all the people that follow your blog feel the same way. It is hard enough to keep up the blog.

I guess I was no help to you. I love your blog just the way it is....seriously, I do. I forgot to mention the recipes, books and etc. I sincerely Love it just the way it is. It is a reflection of you and I enjoy you so much!!!!!
