Frugal Bathroom Fix-up BEFORE..

Good Morning my dears... Hope you all had a blessed Easter...
We went away and visited with friends a little North of us.. Their church put on a drama called The Three Theives and it was awesome... In fact, the best I think I have ever seen..
We had such a great time visiting our friends, also...
Thank you Doug and Sheila.... You are precious...

Anyway... Today I have an agenda... A very large list of to dos...
We will be leaving to live at our cottage in just a few weeks and I have so much to accomplish...
Last year when I returned home I had another list of things to do here at home.. One of them that I really wanted to finish before we went back to St. Martins was the guest bathroom... This used to be the one our children used.  Or guests as it is in the centre of the house... Well, our sweet babies have all flown the nest for quite awhile now.. I had redid it after the two older ones had left of course .. Knowing me probably more than once..smile.. They have been gone for twenty years... Where has the time gone?
Well... it needs done again.. The thing being is that we are slowly making plans to rearrange our lives and so I do not want to put a lot into this little room..I need to be FRUGAL...But thank the Lord this little bath has good bones.. smile...
Everything is basically still good... The floors we had redone and the marble, cupboards, etc. are still fine..
So ... it just needs a little frugal updating, eh?
No more CATS....
I love them but we need a change... Terry, by the way does not care what I do so long as it does not pertain to tearing out walls or painting unpainted wood....
So, with that in mind.... I am going to see what I can do on my own and hopefully he will not notice until I am through....smile...
He seldom uses this room...
Anyway... This is what I have to work with....
Perhaps, I need to call my daughter.. We usually discuss our improvement plans and help each other...
Anyway...
There are 2 mirrors and sinks...

Perhaps, I should do some painting...????

The floors are fine.... I wonder if I should paint the cupboards....

I had made a shower curtain and valance to match this scheme but I think a new one would not cost much if I make it...

As I have already said ... The cats are going to be gone..
I need a new style???.. smile...
Although, I love prim... I need to remember that this bath only has one window so it needs to be kept in kind of light colors...
Well, girls this is one thing on my to do list ... I thought if I posted about it you would all hold me to it and it would get completed... smile... There is a method to my madness, shall we say?
So, any suggestions?  I could use a little advice here...
Thanks....

It will probably take me a couple of weeks as I need to work every day on crafts for the shop ...
I will post the AFTER pics as soon as it is finsihed.. ok?
So, please pray for me... And I will pray for you....

Thanks so much for dropping by and a big WELCOME  to all the new followers of the blog.. Your comments are so appreciated.
Today I joined the Homestead Barn Hop..
Enjoy..
Hugs.
Faye....

  1. Hmmm, do I sense a bit of black paint and maybe some mustard?? I vote for some stars in there- my favorite right now... I'd keep the shower curtain and valance but add some stars to it... just a thought- don't work too hard (smiles)

PS- missed you yesterday!- I dread the thought of when you go to St. Martins!

  2. Morning Faye, You are so blessed to have a cottage or summer house to go to. That would be so fun to me. A change of pace, scenery, wow! Love the long vanity in your bath. Good luck with your decorating in there. Possibilities are endless. I am sure it will be beautiful. Can't wait to see pictures.

  3. Good luck, Faye! I can't wait to see what you decide to do with your bathroom. As you said, it has "good bones" so just a little srpucing up should be all it needs!

  5. I am sort of redoing a bathroom too. So many decisions. I keep going to back to my favorite blue (like here: http://boninfarm.blogspot.com/2010/12/right-now-i-am_15.html).
It absolutely brightened up my kitchen and reflected the light. The bathroom is now a creamy vanilla with the blue accents and white trim. Loving it so far.
    Good luck and have fun!

  6. Ooooh~ I love to give rooms a "facelift", Faye! The floor is beautiful in there, and I think a prim look would be wonderful.

  7. Hi Faye...
How blessed you are to have a summer place to go to..And your very own store. That is my dream..A big barn with a little store where I could sell my creations, a few antiques and home made goodies..
Last year I painted my bathroom yellow..I love the prim look but wanted it bright in there. The trim and wainscott I painted white. I still love it. Today I went and bought paint for my bedroom. I normally like darker colors, but I went for a blue/green color called summer cottage. Paint does wonders. Can't wait to see what you decide to do.
I am hiding all chocolate in my house. I am trying no to eat sweets and breads during the week. So hard. Have a great week.

  8. Hi Faye, first things first, what do you mean by "making plans to rearranging your life"???? you aren't planning on going anywhere are you?? I am sure whatever you do with your bathroom will be wonderful, wish I lived next door so I could help you do it, wouldn't that be fun...I agree the cats have to go, but I like your shower curtain so maybe you could work around that?? can hardly wait to see what you have done...

    love Tam

  10. Your dear old friend,August 26, 2011 at 11:30 AM

Hello my dear old friend, That was some breakfast we had together the other morning. Imagine not clearing the table till 10:30 but that's what happens when you invite special friends for a meal. We must try to do it again sometime soon. Enjoyed our visits this week. Was just thinking it was 30 years ago you came to my house and helped me make pickles. I was pregnant with the baby of the family. It was so sweet of you and I have mentioned it often. Such good memories.
