Hello everyone..
Another Friday night has rolled around..
A whole week of January is almost gone..
Our oldest grandson turned 15 this week.. Bless his heart.. Such a lovely lad..
It is cold here this evening but the wood furnace is blowing nice hot air..
We were on the road a lot this week so we are staying inside tonight and just enjoying being HOME..
A lovely place to be.. smile..
Today I put all the Christmas decor from our kitchen, family room and front hall away..
When I putting things in a chest I found several oil plug-in air freshener things..
They were empty but I had seen on Pinterest how to refill them..
I cannot get a link to the site for some reason..Just go to my Pinterest (on the side bar) and click on this pic on my DIY board..
It will give you the directions..
I tried it and it is actually working..
I had some warm vanilla oil and the kitchen smells lovely..
Essential oils are costly but you can get large bottles of different scented oils at Wallmart for a few dollars..
Much cheaper than refills ..
I love for my home to smell nice..
Do you, too?
It makes my heart glad when people come through the door and asks what the lovely smell is..smile..
I do admit that I work hard at it..
I burn candles a bit but I also use homemade deodorizers besides the plug ins..
I shared one recipe with you HERE..
It is a vanilla clove air freshener..
This has been pinned a lot..
I started making this one, though and I think I like it better...
My favourite room freshener recipe:
Fill a spray bottle with 1 1/2 cups of distilled water and 1/2 cup of white vinegar and as much essential oils as you like..
This one is lavender. Sometimes, I add rosemary oil to the lavender..
Or you can use just rosemary or sweet orange ...
Add the oils until it smells the way you want it to...
Essential oil idea for the freshener ...
The above recipe but for the essential oil use lemon, pink grapefruit and patchouli to suit your taste... OK?
Make sure to shake it well before you spray..
Here is a lovely citrus recipe you can make..
LEMON ROOM FRESHENER..
2 c. hot water
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup of lemon juice..
You can use the juice from the plastic lemons if you don't want to use fresh..
Place in a spray bottle..
Shake well..
You can buy the bottles at the dollar store..
It is nice to have a bottle in each of your washrooms and I keep one in the kitchen..
Our laundry room is right at the back door so I keep one in there and spray it occasionally, too..
Here is another thing that you can try...smile..
If you eat an orange or use a lemon then save the peel(in the freezer) and place them in a bowl.. Cover with water and microwave for a few minutes..
It deodorizes your microwave and your kitchen.. I do this a lot when we have had fish... smile..
I hope this is something that interests you ladies..
Remember that the recipes are much safer for your family...
Thank you dear friends for dropping by and leaving your sweet comments..
I don't always respond to all of your comments but I certainly read and treasure each and every one..
I think I will go and make a nice hot cup of tea.
Oh... would you like to see a future project that I have in mind?
I found this on the web but I am sorry that I don't know where..
Isn't it sweet? I just need a few more juice cans.. I made a footstool like this in the 1970's..
Did you? grin..
Some of you had not even been born yet... grin..
Have a blessed weekend ...
Peace to you all..

ReplyDeleteYes the scent of your home is what makes it cozy.I get used to the scents so don't always notice but company always says things like your house smells like a country shop.I love all your herbal and natural recipes.Warm Blessings!~Amy
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Cathy's blog. The room freshener is great.
ReplyDeleteMmm... your house does smell nice! I will have to have another go at making air fresheners...I don’t think that a clear one will leave spots on my toilet. You’d be happy to know that I have 2 batches of rosemary bread raising as I type...
ReplyDeleteI just found a way to leave you a comment so that it will post right away... I opened a separate window and logged directly on to Google, then I opened up Microsoft word... wrote comment, then cut and copied comment to your blog... For some reason for the last few weeks when trying to leave a comment my computer froze up...
ReplyDeleteHi Faye..
ReplyDeleteJust love this post :)
We love for our home to smell good.
Most days we have a candle burning, or the simmer pot going.
This morning, I was warming old candles in the oven to make home-made fire starters, and our daughter walked in and inquired about what I was baking...LOL.
I'm going to give some of your recipes a try.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great day!!
I do remember those footstools!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Faye,
ReplyDeleteYou are just chocked full of wonderful ideas for us today now aren't you?
I may try the room spray!
Karen
Hello my friend,
ReplyDeleteYour recipes sound wonderful, I need to try them. First I need to buy some essential oils. I buy the plug in ones, but I'm going to check out your pinterest boards and see how to refill them. Such an interesting post!
Love and hugs, Cindy
I just stumbled onto your site because of this tip being shared on Pinterest. I just wanted to say that your blog is so wonderful! Perhaps it is the combination of the peaceful tone of your writing and "As the Deer" playing but my heart is so full of joy from just stopping by here. I just wanted to say thank you for being you and for sharing something special for all to experience!
ReplyDeleteBe blessed!
