Frugal Decor...

Hello everyone..
Such a beautiful Spring like day here in Eastern Canada and we didn't even need a sweater...

I finally put away all the snowmen in our front foyer..I know it is a bit late but we do still have a bit of snow out there..
That is my story and I am sticking to it.. grin..

I have to redecorate the foyer.. It needs a fresh touch without costing much..

As you know I love the country prim type of decor.
So ... with that in mind  I decided to make some pillows but they are not finished ..I thought about bringing up an old bureau but Trevor (our oldest son) had made me the bench .. I decided to keep it there for a bit longer..
I will share it all with you later but for today I did a wee lamp.

It may not be to every one's taste but I kind of like it.
It is made with a mason jar kit.

My Dad had given me the large mason jar many long years ago.. I have kept it because he gave it to me..
I thought this would be a neat way to keep it for awhile..

There is a prim border in the foyer and hallway.  As there was a roll left I decided to use it.
I just fitted it to the jar and glued it on a shade that I had..

I think the little blessings written on it are suitable for an entry..

May the happiness of heart and home be one, and may all who enter be enveloped in it's warmth..

May love, joy, peace and health be bestowed upon all who pass through our doors..

I also did this..

I need to buy some brown ink to make the crow part darker or perhaps I just need to tea dye it, too..
And maybe I should take out the glass..
What say you?
I will show it later, too.. smile..

I took a pic of my basil plant, too..

It is hard to believe that I brought this in from outside last Fall..
It has been in blossom for a couple of months..
It looks a bit sad but it is still alive and well..grin..

I will be doing this again for sure..

So Happy Spring my dears..

My all time fave time of year..
How about you?  What is your favorite season?

I thank you all for stopping by.. I so enjoy hearing from you, too.
It makes blogging worthwhile when you know someone is reading..
God bless...

    1. Hi Faye...I have always wished I had a herb garden and that I knew more about cooking with herbs. Your basil plant looks good. The lamp is so great. It is gorgeoous here in the Finger Lakes of New York. Some of my early daffodils are blooming....usually not this early. Happy Spring to you and Terry.

      Sleep tight...

  8. The little lamp is lovely. I also have an old blue mason jar lamp that I filled with lots of dried flower petals and such that sits by my side of the bed. I'm trying to get back in the swing of things. My knees are healing nicely but my legs get so tired as of yet. Still trying to catch up on everyone's blogs! It's been a very warm 87 here in NW Florida today. The mosquitoes are really horrible right now; they just swarm you when you step out the door. Hope your week is a joyeous one. Hugs from me!

  12. You are very creative. Everything looks wonderful. :)

As you may have guessed my favorite time of the year is wintertime. We haven't had much of it this year. Or as much as we usually do. :( We still have snow on the ground from weeks ago. the sun doesn't shine there as much, just half of the yard is showing now.

Gotta go. Happy Spring. Take care, Janet W

    Very lovely!
Your basil must feel very much at home with you too, lol!
I like your wall art just as it is, but I can see how tea dying the crow could work well too.
Happy Spring to you - it's my favourite season too :-)

  16. Hi Faye,
I love the lamp you did, it is perfect to welcome company into your home. I also love the framed idea you made, hint, hint, I think we could do that at the Keepers of the Home. :) God has given you so many talents and you are definately using them.

My Dad is in the hospital in Fredericton and I was wondering if you would mind saying a prayer for him. Thanks a bunch.

I can't wait to see what you have for us tomorrow.

    Hugs to you Faye.

  17. Such a cute lamp! You always do such a great job on decoration. Our dandelions will soon start coming up. I think I saved your recipe last year. If not, I will email you asking for it as I definitely want to make it. Enjoy your day and God bless.

  19. Morning Faye,
I think we all try and be frugal with our decorating...we all love to tweak so much we 'have to be frugal' or we'd all go broke very quickly...lol
Your lamp turned out wonderful - and it holds a special memory from your father - isn't it fun when you can use 'what you have' already to decorate with? Makes us feel we aren't so wasteful after all.

    Blessings,
    Karen
