The Lights of Home...

Good Evening my dears..

It was a fine but cold day here today..
Terry went to the woods to cut some fire wood..  I managed to get quite a few chores completed.. I am trying to get the house back to normal after Christmas..  It takes a bit of time..smile.. I think it is mostly complete now, though.. Thank the Lord..

What were you busy doing today?

As darkness began to settle down around the house I went out on the deck and took this pic...

The lights are on.....It is warm and cozy inside..

I put a bunch of geraniums on the window sill today..

I love green growing plants in the Winter, don't you?
These ones will all have red blossoms when they bloom..
I brought them in from the Summer..

I wonder what is cooking for supper..smile..

I think that is a loaf of bread cooling on the breadboard.. Right?
And perhaps some kind of soup ???  smile...

Terry arrived home from the mountain top with a load of wood...

And an empty belly... smile..

He enjoyed his supper..
Chicken stew flavored with summer savory..
And a fresh loaf of bread..
Comfort food.. So good when you are tired and cold..

Now the dear man is having a little snooze.. grin..
He is so cute when he is sleeping.. Don't tell him that I said that..
smile..

So thankful to have him home all safe and sound..
Thank you, dear Lord..

We are not as young as we used to be ... smile..

Well, this is just a little touch base with you kind of posting..

Thanks for dropping by and welcome to the new followers of the blog..
I appreciate you one and all..

And may the God of love and peace be with you..

  1. Good evening Faye, Geraniums are one of my favorite summer time plants. That soup and homemade bread looks wonderful. Mr. P has been asking for homemade bread. Right now we are out of state as he is on a trip for work. Maybe I will spoil him once we get back home. He will be tired of eating meals out. Have a wondderful evening. So warm and cozy looking into your kitchen. Enjoyed the visit as always.

  4. My, that looks so yummy. I don't bake bread at all cause I'd eat it all the time. :) Are you ready for the snow storm tomorrow? Stay cozy. Blessings, Pamela

  6. Hello there, our Miss Faye! It is so pretty looking in your windows with the geraniums! I did not grow geraniums last summer and I really regretted it!

It is good Terry got his wood cut and he is back home safe and sound. What a wonderful warm home and delicious supper to come home to. I know what you mean about the worry of these men doing all kinds of things. Today, my hubby removed our fireplace and all the brick. He is taking a little snooze tonight, too.

Have a wonderful night, Dear Heart, and sweet dreams!

  7. Hello Faye...I wish I could be just like you.Your always so creative and always cooking up something delish. This week I have been blessed with a free bread maker. It didn't come with the booklet so I called the 800 number on the cord and they emailed it to me.I have been reading through it and trying to decide what one I want to try making in it first.

  8. Sounds like a very cozy evening, Faye...
I always go with James when he cuts wood (mostly to make sure he doesn't cut his leg off...) and while he cuts, I stack.
    Your soup looks so delicious!

  9. What a wonderful warm feeling peeking into your home.
I too love geraniums. My precious Gran used to grow them all year too.
She would bring them in the winter and grow them in her bedroom.
Love & JOY to you Faye Henry

  17. Your chicken stew looks delicious. Would you care to share the recipe? I have never made chicken stew. I don't think I had even thought of making it. I make beef stew a lot but not chicken. I think Hubby would like it. He is not too fond of chicken noodle soup but the stew has lots of veggies so I think he would like it. Enjoy your day and God bless.

  18. The lights of home are always so comforting, aren't they. Your meal looks very yummy, I hope you enjoyed it!
I cleaned my house today and did some laundry, then went for a walk and mailed my youngest grandchild a birthday card and a bit of money. It was -19 C out, but I was very warm, and the sun was shining beautifully! I enjoyed myself so much.
    Hugs, Cindy
