A posting for the faithful...

Good Evening to you...

I thought that I would not post tonight.. I did not think you would be very interested in my day .
It was not a creative day really but I did get a few things accomplished that I have been wanting to do..

But I remembered you faithful readers who will read this even if it is boring and so here I am.. smile..

As you all know... I love books and they kinda cling to me.. grin..

I have been wanting to give our bedroom a good clean ..
Clearing out the closet and bookshelves are both on my list along with all the drawers in Terry's dresser and mine..

I can't seem to finish it all.. sigh..

I have either been running the roads or sick or whatever..

Today, though I did get quite a bit of it finished..
Not quite all but I am getting there.. smile..
I have several bags of books and such to give away..
Thank the Lord..

Then there was quite a bit of laundry ...
One would think when there are only two people that there would not be much but there still is...

Then...
We had an old comforter on our bed that we both love..
Don't ask me why but it is just so comfy..
And torn here and there...but just on one side.. grin..

So...
I took a cozy flannel sheet and attached it to the torn side..
Sewed all the edges and presto!!
We can use it for a few more years..

I did not take pics because you all would think I was crazy.... grin.

Every time that I took a break I was on a mission..
Going through the Bible, books and notebooks..
Trying to get ready for Keepers meeting on Saturday..
Last week I really was ill and I was not happy with all that I had ready...

Just praying that the Lord will give me something that will encourage and inspire the dear girls who attend..

Then I made another soup..
Out of the leftover chicken, of course..
I could eat soup every day... eh, Janet?  grin..
Anyway... I wondered if you ever do this with your leftover herbs..

Use them all except the stems... Tie them up with some string and throw them into your broth that you are making..
They give such a wonderful flavor..
Just a tip for you soup junkies.. grin..

And then I need to confess... smile..
I have been wanting a lovely cup of tea and a sweet..

We hardly have any because my sweet husband is diabetic..
But while the cat is away this mouse is making ...

Raisin Bars...

I know I should not have them but a treat once in awhile...

I really am a healthy eater..
Ask our daughter.. She is a nurse..
She says I am the healthiest eating big person she ever met..
It must be the pasta..

Anyway... loveys.... here is the recipe..
just in case you have one of those kind of days... grin..

RAISIN BARS..
1 1/3cups raisins.
3/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
Place in a small pot and boil for 5 minutes..

Mix in a bowl..
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar or splenda
1 tsp. b. powder
1 cup margarine
Crumb together and place half of the mixture in a greased 9 inch pan..
Spread raisin mixture over the bottom crust and add the rest to the top and pat down..
350 degrees F. for 25 minutes..

Enjoy...

Thank you dear ladies for dropping by.. And a big welcome to all of the new followers.. So glad to have you visiting..

I love your comments and even though I don't always get back to you, I do read each and every one..

Thanks for your support and for making me grin..
You are all a bunch of sweeties... grin..

I need to get to bed now..

I was reading some letters today and realized that they were written in prison...

Imagine...

Paul the Apostle...
I love his writings.. They are so full of direction and encouragement..

Take care....

  3. Hello Faye, You accomplish so much in a day!!! Wish I could attend the "Keepers" meeting. I know I would love it and it would be enjoyable to meet all of the other women. Oh...raison bars...but seeds and nuts are not on my list of foods. They sure do look wonderful, though!

I look forward to hearing about your days. Love your posts.

Sweet dreams, Lovey Dovey (that's what I call the grandkids and hubby calls me Lovie!...just saying.......)

  6. Hi Faye,

I am glad you are feeling better and that you got so much accomplished today. Today was a lazy day for me. :( Kinda not feeling to well.

That is a great idea for the soup with the herbs.

I love reading the words of the Apostles, especially Peter and Paul. :) I love the New Testament.

    Take care, Janet W

  7. Dear Faye:
I'd be glad if I did half of what you accomplished in one day. I'm glad
that nasty cold is gone. That's a good idea that you had with the flannel
sheet to repair the comforter. I'll have to remember that. If I have too
many herbs left over and they are fresh, I'll freeze them in ice cube
trays and then they won't rot and go to waste. When I need some I just pop
    a cube!
The raisin bars look good. I love hermits, uh-oh, no sweets for me!
    Hugs,
    Susan

  8. Dear Faye,
I smiled at your post - especially the increasing SIZE of the raisin bars:
    the temptation is working...
Was that a 'down' day for you?? I'd like to know what you accomplish in a busy one, then!
Paul was truly a Man on a Mission, wasn't he? I have been reading and thinking about him a lot lately. He has a lot to teach this wayward girl :)
    Love,
    H

  11. I"m glad you're feeling better and are able to get some things done. I wonder if those raisin bars might taste similar to a raisin pie. My dad is always asking me to fix him one of those. Maybe I can tempt him with your bars.

  17. Dear Faye,
I wish I lived close enough to go to one of your meetings. I'm sure the ladies are blessed by whatever the Lord puts on your heart.
What a great way to add some more life to your comforter. I will have to keep that in mind.
Those raisin bars look so yummy! Thank you for the recipe. I'll add it to all the other ones I've printed out to try!
I do not think you're boring or crazy, my friend. :)

  18. Oh, Faye~ I am so thrilled when you post ANYTHING... you could type your grocery list on here and I would be sitting here going "Ooooh, ahhh..." over it. :)
But you have to stop posting these pictures of all this yummy food... I always leave here hungry! Thanks for the recipe for the raisin bars... my hubby doesn't care for raisins, so it would be a shame to make them and have to eat them all by myself, wouldn't it? (insert evil giggle here)
Thank you~ just so you'll know~ you're always a bright spot in my day.

  19. Such a wonderful post. It really is the simple things in life that keep us going. The little extra's that we can add to our day to make it enjoyable. Thanks you for the inspiration to just be content with the everyday life. The raisin bars look yummy and simple, I will have to give them a try. Blessings for a better week ~Sara

  22. I love reading what you write, it's like reading an old fashioned letter from a dear friend. I want to meet you one day, dear girl, I know you are a kindred spirit. Do you ever go to the Canada Conferences? This year it's in Regina, my hubby says we are going, yay!
My husband loves anything with raisins, I should make those for him today, it will be a lovely surprise for him! I'll do it as soon as I go for a walk, sweep all my floors, dust all the furniture and make a soup for my luncheon tomorrow.
I am on the Central Canadian District's Ladies Ministries team and they are meeting here tomorrow to plan our ladies retreat.
Do you have any creative ideas for a ladies retreat?
    Love an hugs, Cindy
