Storm Day ....

Hello my dears..

A very snowy day here  ...

Just sharing a few snow day pics with you..

What does a girl do when she is down with the cold and hubby is gone and it is snowing and blowing outside??..

1.. Wear pjs all day... smile..

2.  Make chicken, barley and wild rice soup...

3.  Bake some pita crackers to go with it..

(Just toast up a pita... drizzle a bit of olive oil and sprinkle a bit of kosher salt.. break up and use like crackers..)

4.  Drink coffee...

5.  Burn some incense..

6..Write up a few cards...

7..Drink orange juice and take some echinacea ..

8.. Thank the Lord for the dear neighbor who came and used their snow blower to clear out the driveway..

9.. Talk on the phone to a couple of dear friends and a son who was worried about his Mom.. smile..

10.  Thank God for all the lovely blessings of the day..

Thanks for dropping by dear ladies..
Looking forward to hearing from you.. I love your comments.. They really make writing this blog a joy...

  1. Oh dear Faye, I hope Terry is home by now. You had a cozy day, it sounds. We are still having crazy weather - it was 64 today. I enjoyed that video, we would have snow days, at least one a season. I always used to pray for them, even when I was working! xo

  6. Ahh, yes, indeed it was a snow day...They used to be far more meaningful when it meant a day off with pay! This year they are just a pain!

  8. Oh ...How I loved a snow day when I was young! It was so cozy and warm inside our big farmhouse.....Dad, before chores, would shovel coal into the old furnace down in the cellar. Seems like we had alot of oatmeal or cream of wheat for breakfast on Snow Days. Yum ...with warm maple syrup!! We lived on a hill and many a Snow Day we would slide down hill on the big bob sled that our Grandpa made for us or skate on our pond. Those were the days when us kids could not wait to get out side instead of watching tv or playing on the computer. The wind would swirl around us, making our hands and feet so cold! When afternoon came we would head indoors, our cheeks and our noses bright red from the cold. We could not wait to get near the heat registers to get us cozy and toasty again. Many times Mom would have cocoa reaady for us. Yum! So much for Snow Days. This year we will be lucky if a snowplow goes by at all! Not much snow here in the Finger Lakes of New York...so far.

  9. Sounds like a lovely day! I enjoyed all the snow pictures & am wondering if you'd mind sharing your chicken soup recipe? I have never been able to make a good pot of chicken soup. Maybe yours will work for me? Blessings, Shirlee

    1. Hi Shirlee.. I wondered if I should have shared the recipe but it is one of those a bit of this and that one.. Oh well.. you cannot mess it up.. smile..
Put 2 chicken breasts with bone in and cover with water in a pot.. Add a chopped onion and salt and pepper and cook for over an hour.. When the broth tastes good then add a small handful of barley and wild rice mixture.. Chop up a couple of large pieces of celery quite fine and another 1/2 of onion and add... Peel and couple of carrots . I use the peeler to shred the carrots and add them, too... We love summer savory with our soup but you can use whatever you like.. Simmer for another half to three quarters of an hour or more.. Take out the breasts with tongs and strip off the meat and put back in pot... Sometimes I will add some boxed brothe if I don't have enough.. I usually, have lots, though..
OK? Just let me know if there is something you don't understand..

  10. I love our snow storms, they are so fun, I have always loved them. I also love being sick with a cold when I don't have anything pressing to do, being lazy feels so wonderful sometimes. I do hope you get to feeling better, though.
    Hugs, Cindy

  11. Oh I love the snow, thanks for sharing your photos Faye! Although you all know how to carry on through the seasons, when it snows here the country shuts down (I'm not complaining, it's lovely to have such peace)! Just very cold here this morning in Devon. Hope you are warm and cosy (looks like you are!) Blessings, Carly x

  15. Dear Faye:
You are getting a good one there. I know that your neighbor and son have checked on you so I see that you're safe and looked after, that's wonderful. I guess you just have to bundle up and pray for hubby to return safe and soon.
    Hugs,
    Susan
