Little Happenings...

Good Evening my dears...
Did you think that I had forsaken you?  smile..

I had a small problem with my camera ..

The last time I did a post I set my camera on the table beside me and proceeded to spill half of my cup of tea on it.. Yikes..
I shook it out and dried it the best I could but by morning it stopped working..

To make a long story short my dear friend Pam advised me to put it in a box or bag of rice..
Which I did and thank the good Lord it is now working 100%... smile...

So.. if this little accident happens to you..
Whether a camera or phone just pop it right away into a zip lock bag of rice ...
It only took a couple of days...

So.. I am back... smile..
I just thought I would once again share some pics of my days..

Terry and I headed out early this morning for another little trip to Fredericton..
There was a lot of fog..

Kinda pretty, though, eh?

And in the last few days we have been in a genuine pickle.. grin..

These are Sweet Garlic Dills..
Every one's favorite except for me..
I love sour pickles..
Oh.. remember the sour pickles I tried..
I LOVE them...
I shared the recipe HERE..
They do taste like Gram's...

This is the Reversing Falls Bridge in the fog early this morning..

Can you see it?

Terry planted lots of tomatoes and brought some down over the weekend..

We have our garden at home..
There is not enough room to grow much except herbs here at the cottage..

I am trying out a new recipe that I concocted..

Green Tomato and Ginger Chow..
I hope it will work out..
I'll let you know in a week or so...
The ginger has to do it's work in the pickle for awhile..

More fog.
I noticed several trees whose leaves have already changed their color..sigh...
I don't want Summer to leave us yet.. smile..

Don't you love fresh tomatoes?

I hope to make some nice fresh tomato and basil soup maybe tomorrow.. yummy...
The recipe for that is HERE..
Except instead of using canned tomatoes I use fresh ones..
OK?

We have these signs along our highways...

Do you?
I am terrified of the moose..
They are huge and can demolish a car in a flash...

These pickles are for sandwiches...

We made some Sweet Dill ones last year for the first time and my friend Janelle's husband tried them out and loved them..
So... we made a bunch....

By the time we headed back to St. Martins the fog was pretty well cleared off..

The lovely St. John River..
Then it poured rain.. We could hardly see to drive..
Talk about change of weather..
All in one day... smile..

Terry has been craving this meal so I decided to make it ...

Again... grin..
Rice and Stir fry...

What have you sweet ladies been up to?

I know I am a bit boring these last few weeks with the pickle thing but Lord willing it will mostly be over this week..

I am planning on being in the Art in the Park at the Fundy Trail on Sunday..
It is the only show I do all year and my Mom and Step Father are coming down for the weekend to go to it, too..
I sell pickles, jams and jellies, fudge, salves, crafts and other homemade goodies..
It is fun...

Then next Friday night the Keepers are hopefully coming for their over niter.. Sept. 7th..
And.... then in a couple of weeks is my closing sale... Sept. 23rd..

Then homeward bound..
It has been a glorious Summer..

September in St. Martins is wonderful...
Wind, rain, fog and huge waves..
What more could a somber weather girl ask for?  grin...

Thanks for visiting..

As always I love having you and hearing from you all..
Don't forget that I try and reply to each comment so come back and check if you like... smile..

May the Lord richly bless you and your sweet families..

Happy Friday Evening....

Hello ladies.. How are you all ...
I had said last night in my posting that I wanted to get some Fall decorating done today..
Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans... smile..
This morning first thing my dear hubby (whose birthday is today.. grin) brought in a huge bag of these..

These were the half ripe ones which we love just the way they are for sandwiches and such..
But most of them were ripe so I made a huge pot of this..

Fresh tomato soup for the freezer...
And then the birthday guy had some company come out to wish his Dad a happy birthday.. smile...

And he wanted to visit HIS dear little dog.. Sammi..
Sammi is always sooo glad to see Dustin...grin..
Anyway, when Dustin  comes home I start cooking for him..
A loaf of homemade bread and a big bottle of strawberry jam and his favorite.. a pot of fried rice to take back with him.. smile..
Anyway, I eventually got down to the bottom of the drive to this tree..

We call this a Pepperberry tree but I really don't know the proper name..
The berries are very nice for decorating..

A nice orangey red color...
Well, while I am snipping some off it starts to pour rain..
Great... grin...
I head back to the house..
Sammi thinks I am a bit slow and decides to scratch his itchy ear..
grin..
The sun is out up there.. Crazy weather....smile..
I looked over towards our fields and look what I saw..
Isn't that beautiful sight... Our God is so faithful..
He is still the same as the day the very first rainbow appeared..
What an awesome God we serve... ..
Then it is back to the house with a big handful of branches and I got started on this..
The kitchen windowbox...
Is that the phone I hear...
Yupppp.... Dear boy left his jacket here with his bankcard in the pocket so we drive over to the Big Stop to meet him halfway..
And now it is too dark to do anymore..
Tomorrow, Lord willing we head back down to the cottage to do some closing up chores...
So I  guess I will need to do the rest next week..

For now, I need to go and make my Sweetie a nice treat for his supper.. He got into the homemade bread earlier and was not hungry until now..

Gotta go my dears...
Love to you all..

Homemade Crackers and Tomato Soup...

Good Morning, my dears...
Another lovely day here in the Maritimes of Canada... We have a majority government, I see... That is all I am going to say except thank God for our country..We need to pray daily for the leaders of not only our country but this world needs prayer...
And don't forget to pray for Israel...
We are near the end and Jesus is going to return for His bride...
I want to waiting , listening, yearning for His return...
I am so thankful for the Good News of Salvation...
Free for whosoever will...
In Him we can put our trust, our hopes, and our plans...
He is faithful.... Thank you, Jesus.....

Now... Today.. I have a neat recipe for you.
Yesterday was election day... a cracker of a day shall we say... smile.. So I made crackers. This recipe
came out of an old Mennonite recipe book that I have...
Here is the recipe...
Cracker Basic Recipe....
4 cups of whole wheat flour  (you can make any mixture you like of flours)
1 tsp. salt
1 T. sugar
3/4 cup shortening
2/3  cup milk or water   (more or less)
Mix dry ingredients.. cut in the shortening until it is finely blended.
Add the milk or water until it forms a soft ball like pastry.
Divide the dough into 4 parts and roll as thin as parchment.
Slide the dough onto a cookie tin and cut with pastry or pizza cutter.
into squares... Dent with a fork.
Bake in 400 degrees oven for 10 minutes or until crisp and pale...
Now here is the fun part...
Easy, eh?
DIFFERENT FLAVORS..
With each of your four balls you can make a different flavor..
After you have divided the dough into four balls then flatten it into an oval and sprinkle the topping of your choice on it and roll out as thin as you can and the flavoring will distribute throughout.
Sometimes , I added a bit on the edge....
I made ....
SAVORY CRACKERS ...Sprinkle the dough with a savory salt..
(mine was garlic and lemon)
DILL CRACKERS... Sprinkle with dill seeds and a touch of coarse salt.... (my fav)
HERBES DE PROVENCE... Sprinkle with herbes de provence...
SESAME OR POPPY SEED .... Sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds.....
Or use such things as celery seeds, minced onion, cayenne  or paprika, chives fresh or dried, garlic powder...
Just open up your cupboard and use your imagination...
from MORE FOOD THAT REALLY SCHMECKS
A Canadian Mennonite writer... Edna  Staebler...
Probably my favorite cookbook of them all..
With these crackers one needs a nice cup of homemade tomato soup... Right?
I just find it hard to eat a CAN of soup when it takes a very few minutes to make such a glorious homemade version...

I am sorry I have no recipe for this..
I just put some lovely garlic oil in a pot and simmered some chopped onion, red pepper flakes, a bay leaf  and a couple cloves of garlic minced till soft...
Then a can of crushed tomatoes that I dislike but Terry had bought a case and I needed to use them .... a wee hand of sugar and a bottle of homemade chicken broth....
Now you can use the broth of your choice... can , box, cube....
I had cooked a turkey and always use the bones to make broth...
Now... do you remember when I posted last year about
Well, I have loved this... I put this into my homemade soups and pasta sauces or whatever I like basil in... The salt tastes just like basil and then you can add pieces of the herbs, too..
I will be sure and try to make more of these this year, Lord willing...
Anyway, this soup tasted so delicious... A lovely flavor of tomato and basil..
Then the wee cracker pieces that did not turn out exactly are lovely to put in your soup.... smile...

Then ... just package them however you will and you have enough for awhile... Why buy when in half an hour you can have homemade with only ingredients you trust... Right?

Well, dear ladies that is all for today..
EXCEPT...
I wanted to give you a bathroom fix up update..
The CATS are gone....lol.... So is all the wallpaper..
I am now at a standstill until I can get Terry's help..
To paint or repaper is the question right now..
So .. I need to be patient as he is working and I have to wait on him.. Will let you know when I can....

Thanks for dropping by and leaving your sweet comments.. It is nice to know who I am conversing with sometimes... smile.
May God bless and keep you all...
Hugs...
Faye...
