A Ducky kind of day...

Happy Monday, everyone..

They sure seem to roll around quickly lately, don't they?
I hope you all had a great weekend..
We had a lot of rain which we needed so needless to say the shop was not busy..

Terry and I went out for breakfast on Saturday to the lovely St. Martins Country Inn...
I did a post about this beautiful place before HERE but thought I would take some quick pics to share with you all..

This is a picture of the old Victorian mansion that we  locals here call THE CASTLE...

Isn't it something?

And Michele who runs it for her Dad in the Summer months is the dearest thing..
Her children were home from the Prairies and so we were happy to meet them.. Gorgeous children with their Mom's sweet personality..

Michele bought this old latern at a wonderful little shop here called the House of Henry.. grin..

It is now hanging by the front door...

This is the view going back down the drive..
It is hard to see for it is a foggy day over the Bay but it is a simply beautiful view...

Oh by the way, that lovely yellow house right on the sea is for sale..

Can you tell where the sky ends and the Bay begins?
smile..

It does not take much to make me smile but we had the purest luck in watching these ducks as we drove down the lane..

A sweet little pond right out front ..
Did I mention that I have this thing for ducks.. and sheep... grin..

They have decided to go across town for brunch..

May as well use the modern mode of travel...

They feel very blessed to  have the new bridge as it makes life easier...

Where in the world is Daffy?
There is always one who is poky.. grin..

There she is...
Better late than never, I guess..

She believes in travelling the old fashioned way...

Well, she made it ...
And feels so  good after a bit of exercise..

Let's see what is on the menu for today..
I think they prefer the buffet style...
grin...

Sorry about that.. Sometimes, I can't help myself...

Anyway...
Today I turned these into...

These...

Tarts....

Oh Clove Where Art thou?
And...
Morning Coffee...
They smell wonderful...

And the other day I used one of the lessons we learned at Kings Landing and made a batch of Tansy Ointment..
It is supposed to be good for Arthritis...

I used oils instead of lard and it turned out more green than yellow..
I am going to try it and see if it helps...
I will let you know...

Thank you so much for dropping by and for all of your sweet comments..
So thankful, too, for all of your prayers..
I appreciate them very much...

I am still trying to reply to each comment..
I find this easier than the email way..

Have a blessed and wonderful week, my friends...
Hugs...

A little request on this Summer's evening...

Happy Friday my dears..

Hope you have a great weekend..

We are not planning anything...
Terry and Sammi are back from home and here at the cottage again... smile..

I expect to open the shop tomorrow..
I just made a batch of fudge to sell..
It has been requested... grin...

The Summer is passing so quickly...

The time of delicious salads...
Some made with pasta, olives, sweet onions, tomatoes and some freshly made pesto and lemon ... yum mm....

The days of having doors wide open and the breezes blowing through will soon be over..

I like the Fall but I love the Summer..
So, I am not in a hurry to see it end..
Which is your favorite season?

My dear husband brought me the nicest treat today and I cooked them up for Supper...

Samphire greens... The best there is in my opinion..

They grow out in the salty marshes and taste a bit like the sea..
You peel them off of the branches and swoop them into your mouth..
Lovely... smile...

I know it does not take much to make some people happy.. grin..

The evening is drawing to a close here at our old summer cottage..

I am thankful for health and strength today..

Kind of had a wild ride to the hospital in an ambulance this morning..
A few chest pains and such yesterday..
Checked with my dear daughter the nurse this morning  and ended up calling the Telecare line and they were quite sure I should go..

Oh joy...

Anyway, the good news is that everything seems fine and I need to go when I first get the pain next time..

Praying that there will not be a next time..

My sweet father was gone in a heartbeat when he was younger than I am now..
So, they all thought I had better check it out..

I am fine, though thanks to the good Lord..

I think the fact that I had to go in the ambulance caused more stress than the chest pain.. smile..

All is well that ends well.. Right?

Before I go....

I was wondering if any of you would have a recipe for Arrowroot Bars that take arrowroot cookies, chocolate chips and condensed milk..

I had one years ago and can not find it...

The old stove here has no oven and when we are expecting company I would like to make something on the stove top...

I would appreciate it if you could send it to me...

Isn't God good?
It is so great to know that all is well with my soul...

Take care dear hearts..
I am doing my best to respond to each comment..
Aren't your proud of me? grin...

God bless..

Getting on with Summer....

Hello everyone..
Just a few pics this evening...

Passing through the city of St. John which is known here in Canada as the Loyalist City ( a very old city) with it's famous port on our way to Fredericton again yesterday..

Our tomatoes are growing well.. I made a Quebec Green Tomato Soup for Supper but I don't think it was good enough to pass along the recipe.. Very different and I am glad I tried it but will not do so again. smile..

Also... a few pics at the shop today..
It was so hot that mostly people just went by on their way to the beach..
I don't blame them.. grin..

Still have lots of old dishes if you would like them ...
Just kidding..

Making some wonderful pesto to freeze with the basil I bought at the Farmers Market on Saturday..

And there is dear old Sammi ...
Gone home with Terry for a couple of days..
They will be busy doing lawns and gardening stuff..

I am doing some tidying..
Terry got the deck painted and most of the roof mess is on the other side so I put it all back to rights this morning..
Love sitting out there in the dusk and feeling the wind on my face..
Drinking my lovely lemon cordial...

Lindsay bought one at the market ..Then when I got home I made one like hers.. She paid $3.50 for it..
I just put a 1/4 of the glass of the cordial  (recipe HERE ), added a slice of lemon and lime.. Topped it with water and ice cubes..
It is delicious...
I would love to find a glass glass with a cover though instead of this one from MacDonald's.. grin..
Perhaps they have one at Chapters...

Thanks for visiting and looking forward to hearing from you all..
God bless...

An Herb and Medicine Class and a wee question for you...

Hi everyone...
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth...

Sharing lots of pictures of our visit and class on Herbs and Medicine that Lindsay and I was blessed to take at the beautiful historical village of Kings Landing ...
Heading out early in the morning...

Our wonderful teacher...

I guess I will let the pictures do the talking.. smile..

We had a wonderful time and learned soooo much..
The teacher was so kind and very smart..

We walked all the way through the village and she would point out all the plants that were just growing wild and what they did..

Then when we were at the end we went to an herb garden and picked herbs to make 3 kinds of medicine..
From peppermint, comfrey and tansy and such..

The girls who were taking the class with us were so much fun, too..
And I was surprised to meet my niece and her family on their vacation weekend... smile..
We even had a nice snack of their molasses cake which was made that day..

When it was all over we rode on the wagon back to the top..
Oh my... it was so hot, though.. I was almost fried.. grin..
It was worth it though..

I was wondering if you would let me know which is your favorite photo and why...
OK?

And did you notice that I replied to your comments last post..
I will try to at least answer your questions this way from now on..

Have a blessed week where ever your heart is...
Hugs...

Back to the Ordinary....

Happy Weekend my dears...
And for us New Brunswickers a Happy Long Weekend..
Monday is New Brunswick Day...

We are celebrating the best province in Canada although,
I guess I may be a wee bit prejudiced... smile..

Anyway...
Our sweet grandsons have left and gone back to their homes..
We certainly enjoyed having them..

As for us we are back to doing the ordinary things..

Terry is still up on the roof..
Literally... Here it is almost 8:30 pm and he is still pounding nails..

It will be great when he has his two projects done..
One is the roof and the other is our back wee deck..
It is only large enough for an umbrella table and chairs and then a couple of extra chairs and some planters..
It needed fixed and painted..

The poor guy..
The second deck and the second roof he has had to do since Spring..

He says it is good for what ales ya..
Have you ever heard that saying?  grin...

As you probably noticed I have not been posting a lot..
I think you dear girls need a break from my boring chatter and perhaps read something a bit more inspiring..

But here I am tonight anyhow...

This is such a lovely time of year as far as herbs go..

Here are some dill, rosemary and basil...
I managed to put all three into supper... smile..

Plus... I made this Garlic and Rosemary Jelly...
It is delicious...
The recipe is HERE
I have it at the shop just in case you were wondering.. smile..

I poached some fish for supper...

Dill, parsley and green onions..
The recipe is HERE

I always cut up my herbs with a pair of scissors..
Do you?
I find it does it easier then chopping them on my chopping board.. Most of the time anyway...

I gathered some plantain here..

I will be putting it in oil to make some ointments..
I made some and have it at the shop...
It is for very dry skin and turned out rather well..

Tomorrow is kind of an exciting day for me..

Lindsay (one of the Keepers) and I are going to Kings Landing Historical Village to take a class on Herbs and Medicines...
We are both looking forward to it so I hope to have a bunch of pics for you..

Kings Landing is my favorite place to go to..
I tell everyone I need to go there at least once a year for my fix.. grin...
So totally inspiring to me...

The sun seems to be setting much earlier on the Bay of Fundy these days..

I told Terry at supper that we will soon be going home..
Another 5 or 6 weeks ...

Thank you all for dropping by and visiting..
Please forgive me for not posting nor catching up with your lovely blogs...
But Lord willing things will slow down and I will be more up to it..
I seem to have a reading craze on when I get here..
Something about this place brings out the bookworm in me.. grin..

Take care, dear hearts and I look forward to your lovely notes..
God bless...

PS... I am going to start replying to your comments here on the blog rather than try to email you back which I do not do well..
Hopefully, I will do this better..
Tomorrow, I am going away but will get back later to reply to your comments..
Do you think that would be better ???

Hugs..
