Good Evening everyone..
Welcome to the Blessed Hearth...
Terry and I did go to the Island as I mentioned last post..
I thought perhaps you dear hearts who follow the blog would like to go along with us.. smile..
This will take a few posts as I kind of went camera crazy but perhaps it will be a neat way for some of you who long to take a little trip there...
We started out around ten in the morning and arrived at the Confederation Bridge before noon..
We only live an hour and a half away from here..
It is an amazing piece of workmanship and is the longest bridge in the world crossing ice-covered water..
It takes about 12 minutes to cross in a vehicle...
There was a little sea gull welcoming us across..
I didn't even know I took his pic till I was looking at the photos later.. grin..
Well, we are almost there..
Such a beautiful and colorful place is Prince Edward Island..
Notice the color of the earth...
A little tourist town of shops awaits as you get off the bridge and there are lots of lovely homemades and such.. smile..
After a little shopping and we picked up a Tim's coffee to go..
We had a little picnic with us for our lunch as there was so much to do and see before we headed to our cabin..
As I had said in my last post that Victoria by the Sea would be our first stop..
And it was..
I love this little village and it has been a favourite of ours since the 1970's when we used to go there with our kids ...
VICTORIA BY THE SEA...
So lovely and quaint..
Lots of sea food..
You know me and sea food..
Actually, we both love it...
The houses here are adorable and every one is different and beautiful in it's own individual way...
Here are a few photos of cottages and shops that Victoria is made up of..
My favourite one, of course..
Do you suppose it is because of the books?? lol
Such an interesting and artsy little place..
There were also antiques shops, bed and breakfast and such...
A lot of these homes are year round and I wonder what it would be like on a blowy Winter's day??
Probably, the same as it is here in St. Martins.. smile..
It is at the northern end of the province and that is where a girl named Anne hangs out.. grin..
I will share more of the trip next time..
Yes, we did visit Anne's house and all that goes with it but there is so much more in P. E. I...
Terry and I are older now and enjoy different things then others with young families..
But hopefully you will find it interesting, too..
Thanks for dropping by and I hope you enjoyed this little visit to such a lovely place..
I am looking forward to your little notes and I will try to answer any questions you have..
Also..
I wanted to let you know that Jared is doing well in China and having a wonderful time..
Thank you for praying for him..
Our daughter and family arrived in Dallas, Texas this morning and are attending a Youth Congress in Oklahoma City...
What a world we live in, eh?
So different from the days when Anne enjoyed her
Lake of Shining Waters... smile
God bless...

Oh my gosh! Such a dreamy trip! I would love to visit there some day.
ReplyDeleteHi Faye, So glad you got over the Island . We were there too--probably about 20 minutes from Cavendish. One of these days we are going to meet face to face. I feel it in my bones.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to that lovely grandson of yours. What a fantastic trip!
Enjoy the rest of the summer. I can't believe it is going so fast.
Hugs!
Hello, What a wonderful trip, and all the little shops, it still has little town appeal, but sometimes it is hard to capture really what we have imagined in our minds through books and stories! Dear Anna in our hearts forever! Have a lovely restful summer, with a bit of adventure!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Roxy
Lovely photos of your trip. The houses and shops look so nice. Looking forward to seeing the next installment of the trip. Thanks for sharing your trip. Canada
ReplyDeleteIs beautiful.
Hello Dear Faye...Sound like you and Terry are enjoying your summer. I am so happy you went to P>E>I> I do remember the long, long bridge and the red dirt! The pictures of the houses are so quaint and lovely! The shops are, too. I can not wait to see the next pictures you will be posting. I loved Prince Edward Island. One of the places we stayed was down a long lane and then on the ocean...Just marvelous. The lady had decorated just perfectly! Did catch Jaren on facebook. Look and sounds like he is having a good time on this mission. God be with you and your family, Faye.

Oh how wonderful I've always dreamed of the island since reading Anne of Green Gables. It is so pretty in so many ways the man made and by a bigger hand. I doubt that I will ever get the opportunity to see it for myself so this is ideal. I'm armchair travelling...can't wait for the rest of the excursion.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
debx
Beautiful!!!! It is so exactly as you might imagine it to be and might hope it to be!!! Lovely to go along with you to somewhere that I am not likely to visit otherwise, thank you for taking us! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking me along on the trip...I look forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteBreathtaking beautiful!!! I really would like to visit Nova Scotia on day, actually all of that area...thank you for sharing your trip. I loved the Maple Leaf on the lighthouse. Smiles & Blessings
ReplyDeleteI have been to PEI the last time I visited my sister in law who lives in Moncton. It is just beautiful, charming and quaint as you said. It sounds like you had a lovely trip!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely photos! I think I need to get my passport!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Jared is doing well in China.
Oh I can't wait to read more. My sister has visited here - but not I. Only through Anne! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the little glimpses along the way. I LOVE all the quaintness. So darling!
What a wonderful getaway! I would love to visit that place some day!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are enjoying the summer :)
Oh such a fun field trip - such a beautiful place and you live so near it.
ReplyDeleteI understand what you said about being older and not doing the things the younger people do - we found that out on our trip this past month...we seemed to wander more than anything. We don't need the souvenir shops, fine arts - that sort of thing...no need for it anymore in our home.
So basically we did scenery but also loved driving through the quaint Maine towns.
Thanks again for sharing and how wonderful for Jared and your daughter and family as well...sending wonderful uplifting prayers for them.
Blessings
Karen
