Here and There...

Hi everyone..
How are you doing?

Posting a few pics of our comings and goings..

We were down to St. Martins to the cottage for a day..
The lawns had not been mowed yet as we had not been down and it was covered in forget-me-nots, lots of rhubarb and dandelions..

This is in front of the old carriage house that goes with the cottage and as you can see the grass needed mowed badly..

It was pretty though. smile..

We had intended to bring back a bit of furniture for the old farm house as we won't be using the cottage much again this year but it got very dark and looked like it would pour rain so we decided to wait for another day..

The tide was out and the Bay of Fundy looked as beautiful as always..

I wanted to show this pic of Charlie...

He is pretty proud of his new collar..

He is a good dog...

The first rose of summer..
How fleeting is the time..

Back on the farm we are putting in some garden stuff..

It started raining again...

So I sat in the truck and waited it out..

Terry and our farmer just stood outside in it talking..
We had a strip ploughed for raspberry canes and hopefully next year a few strawberries..

The sun came out later in the day and the beds needed a bit more water..
The dear man made me two more raised beds..
One is my Salad Bowl and the other is going to be for just flowers..
Will share more pics when they get growing more..

We had a wonderful gift of some Maple Syrup..
The best in the land made right in Prosser Brook by the Beaman family...

Decided to make a couple of loaves of no knead bread and see how it would turn out with maple syrup..

It is pretty good..

Here is the recipe for you...

Maple No Knead Bread..
In a bowl place 3/4 cup of warm maple syrup, 1 1/4 cups of warm water and 1 T. maple sugar or white sugar.. Stir well and sprinkle
2 1/2 tsp. of instant yeast..
Let stand for 10 minutes.
Stir well and add 4 cups of flour.. One at a time.. Stir well after each one..
On the third cup add 1 1/2 tsp. of salt ..
I also add 1/2 to 1 tsp. maple flavouring..

After all is stirred well cover with a damp tea towel and let rise until double..
Punch down and cut into two parts and put each one in a buttered bread tin.. (small ones) or make 1 large loaf..
Bake at 475 degrees F. for 35 minutes..
Butter crust with a bit of butter if desired...

Thank you dear hearts for stopping by..
Sorry I am not posting very often..
We do not have internet at the farm and have been busy trying to get moved up there..
Should be soon..

Take care and God bless..

Another Saturday Night...

Hey there everyone..
So glad you dropped by the Blessed Hearth on this another Saturday night..
It is a cool and clear out there this evening..
First of all I want to thank you all for your lovely best wishes for our anniversary that you all sent either here, Face Book or email..
We really appreciate it..
On Thursday Terry and I met Shonda for a lovely visit in Sussex..
Terry dropped me off and Shonda and I did a little shopping..
She gifted us with this beautiful double bouquet..

Yellow roses (my fave), tulips and two Hyacinths ..
So beautiful..
I looked up the spelling of the word Hyacinths and found this little quote...

"If, of thy mortal goods, thou art bereft,
And from thy slender store two loaves
alone to thee are left,
Sell one & from the dole,
Buy Hyacinths to feed the soul"
- Muslihuddin Sadi,
13th Century Persian Poet
Sweet, eh?

Terry and I took a little trip to St. Martins to celebrate our anniversary last weekend..
It was lovely to visit the Bay of Fundy..

Lots of ice around the caves..

We travelled a little further and went to the spring for a few bottles of water..

A little snow in the woods..

He is a good man!  smile..

Yesterday, we had Mom and Gerald over for lunch..

Mom loves tomato soup so I opened a quart of soup that I had canned last Fall...

Just had to add a bit of milk and a cube of frozen Basil Pesto..
Along with a few homemade garlic croutons and she was a happy woman..
Don't tell her I told you but she had 3 bowls..
But she did not have dessert.. grin

Shonda and I went to Taste and See for lunch and it was simply delicious!
Shonda had a serving of coleslaw with her's and she gave me a taste so I could see if I liked it.. grin..
I loved it as it was flavoured with cumin!

So for lunch with Mom I made a bowl of coleslaw and made a stab at making Cumin dressing...

It was a hit..
I am not saying that it was as good as their's but I will certainly be making it again..

In the morning I made another Chocolate Banana Bread that I posted about a bit ago and tried a new recipe for Apple Cake..

I was not thrilled with it so I will not link to the recipe..

Nonetheless it still was eaten... smile..

Another pic of my fave view here at home..
When I say here at home I mean our area.. A couple of miles away!  Not in front of my house, sorry to say!
I was trying to differentiate that it was not at the farm or cottage but here where we actually call home...

Isn't it lovely?
I would love to live right on top of this hill, though..smile..

Making a bit of bread..
Made croutons with the last bit of it..

I was wondering if any of you sweet girls would know the name of this plant..

I bought it last year at a yard sale and just love it..
I need to get a few hanging plant holders and put them up...

My fennel is up that we planted but no peppers yet, Kathy... smile..
They take a bit, I guess and I am still waiting for my Celeriac...
All in due time, I guess..

One of our meals last week..
Shrimp and Pasta ..
A meal I made for Terry to celebrate here at home..
We always pick this menu for some reason..

This is a little something I am working on for Spring decor..

Will take a few pics when it is finished..
I visited Michaels  to buy some tulips and started discussing decor with a perfect stranger and ended up exchanging phone numbers..
So amazing when you meet a kindred spirit and know right off the top that you will be friends.. smile..

Well, dear hearts this is it for another Saturday..
The Lord's Day tomorrow....

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your sweet notes..
I will leave you with one of my go to verses...

Philippeans 4:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus..

Weather Chaos and such...

Hello everyone..

Thanks for stopping by the Blessed Hearth today...
Fall is very obvious here in our part of the world..
Pumpkins everywhere and the leaves are turning..
All so beautiful..

We were down to the cottage last week ..
Due to the full moon and such we had some lovely waves and the wind was wonderful, too..
I sat here for an hour or more..
Just sitting in the swing and enjoying the weather..
It was lovely and sunny but windy..
I had on a shawl and hoodie trying to keep warm and folks walking by probably wondered what on earth was sitting there... grin..

The tide was very high and we enjoyed watching the eclipse and listening to the waves..

We returned home on Monday ...
So much to do.. smile..

We had breakfast out this week and while reading the Telegraph Journal I came across a recipe for Cuban Mojo Sauce and Paprika Potatoes..

It was so easy to make and not a speck of fat in the sauce..
\\
And only 1 Tablespoon of olive oil for the potatoes..
It called for 6 potatoes but we only needed one each..
My land, I loved the sauce..
So tart and delicious..
I used 100 % orange juice instead of sour orange juice..

Here is the link for the recipe..

We had a lot of rain here in our province this week..
We had to go to Sussex and these were the pics on our way there..

So much rain..
One dear man lost his life when his basement wall fell on him..
And another horrible accident when a road caved in..
That was just here in our area...

Reading today where it is horrific in South Carolina, too..

The world is rocking and rolling and all the signs are there that Jesus is returning soon..
Praying for this old world that they will call on His Name...
Praying for the dear families affected by these storms..

Yesterday, I made 3 batches of blueberry jam and 1 batch of Maple Apple Jam...

Looking forward to having a table next weekend at the
 Fundy Trail Market..
Also...
Joining Shonda at the Craft Show at Mission Point Church
 on Nov. 28...
Tomorrow I hope to get the Pumpkin Preserves made..

Anyway, dear hearts that is all for today..
Hope you are having a great day and God bless..

Mussels were on sale so we had some Mussel Chowder for lunch..

Take care everyone and have a great week..
Looking forward to hearing from you all..

Days of Blessings....

Hello everyone...

How are you all?
So glad you dropped by to visit this lovely evening..

I know I have been among the missing for a few days but we
had a short visit home...

It was lovely although very hot on Monday..
On days like that is when you want to be back here by the Bay but there were things that we needed to do..

Terry, of course had lawns and more lawns to do..
The dear thing..
And I had a ton (almost) of laundry..

We do not have laundry facilities here at the cottage or even in the village... The camp grounds have them but that is for them..

It seems to grow.. grin..

Anyway, we had 3 nights in our water bed...
The first night was a bit warm but the next two nights the wind blew and the rain fell..
Lovely....

We spent one day in the city doing all kinds of errands and I was so pleased to buy some garlic scapes...
More about them later.. smile..

Then this morning as we were packing up to return the sun came out and it was a beautiful day...

We had to stop in Sussex and do some grocery shopping..
The Keepers are coming for an over niter on Friday...
We are all looking forward to that.. smile..

As soon as we drove in the lane I practically jumped out and ran to the shop.. I was an hour late... Yikes...

Had some wonderful visitors from across Canada, actually...

Then it was Supper time...

Terry and I had to take a load of stuff to the shop and so we went for a wee drive..

This is my aunt's house at the top of our street..

The Country Inn must be hosting a bunch of photographers as they are everywhere... smile..

One of them was taking this photo so I thought I would give it a try..
I hope he doesn't see it... grin..

Then another one was taking this shot...
So.....

TA... DA...
Here is my version... smile..

When we came back home I made some rose tea...

And some Queen Anne's lace tea...

Some home made jellies in the making..

I will give you the links tomorrow for the recipes..
Just a bit anxious to head to bed tonight...

And here is the potato salad I made for our Supper..

And here is the dressing..

A new recipe that we really liked..
Will share that later, too.. If you like...

Just one more pic...

Our grandson was baptized in the lovely Name of Jesus on Sunday and the whole family were there..

The two grandfathers are watching the turkey fry... I think ...

We all had a wonderful time and wonderful fellowship...
So nice to see our sweet daughter-in-law's parents and family...

All of our 5 grandsons have now been baptized in the Name of the Lord..
So thankful for what Jesus is doing in the lives of our children and their dear ones..

God is so faithful...

Thank you so much for your sweet visit..

And thanks for signing up for the giveaway HERE..
Please check it out if you haven't yet..

So good to chat with you all..
God's sweetest blessings on you all...
