Another ramble and roll...

Hello everyone.
Just a little ramble and roll post for you all tonight..

My computer's battery is dead and I am having a bit of fun trying to keep it balanced so it will not shut off..
Hopefully, this week we will get a new battery but for now here we go..

Everything is almost back to normal here at home..
The boxes of Christmas trimmings have been taken to the basement and I took down all the boughs today..
Pictures need to be hung and a few more things restored but it is almost back.. smile..

We have been doing this and that..

Took a wee trip up to the old farm and when we came in sight of it we saw lots of smoke..
The farmer who uses our pastures had cleared another field and was burning the brush..
Terry had a great time talking to them while I dug out my old faithful book that I make sure is along with me.. grin..
In the Spring the farmer will plow and seed the field for another pasture for the cows..
We love that the farm is being used as a farm even if they are not our cows..
I am looking forward to Spring when we go and stay for a couple of days a week...
You girls who have followed the blog have read past posts of those lovely days..

We have been enjoying bowls of soup and I noticed that my bottle of soup herbs are almost gone..
Another little chore to do..

Another little job was putting away or displaying Christmas gifts like the sweet owl pillow..

I noticed my Pregnant Onion plant has another baby..
So exciting!  smile.

We had a nice supper with my sweet aunt and cousins which was so much fun..
We enjoyed talking about Gram and Gramp and the old days when we were kids.

Dustin was out today and we had one of his favorite meals..
Hamburger Gravy and veggies..
I love it when the kids drop by...

On Sunday we enjoyed worship services and great teachings and a bit of fellowship, too..

All in all it has been a nice couple of weeks as we go into the new year of 2016...

There is to be a big storm on Wednesday but hopefully it will not amount to too much..

I am going to be preparing for another Keepers of the Home meeting for the last Saturday morning of January..
If you would like to attend please email me or leave me a comment here or on the Face Book page...

And I am getting my project list in order..
Finding supplies and such..
I want to make a centrepiece for the dining room table and hopefully a tied quilt..
What are your Winter projects?

Thank you so much for your visit and I look forward to hearing from you all..
God bless..

Joining with JES at Art of Homemaking Mondays..

Life here at the cottage...

Hello there everyone..
So nice to take a few minutes and catch up with you all..
Summer is coming to an end here in New Brunswick and you can smell  the Fall winding it's way to the East Coast of Canada..

You can smell it inside here at the cottage, too as we have been making lots of pickles...
Sandwich Dills, Garlic Dills and Sweet Dills...
So thankful to be able to get the pickling cukes that we needed for Dill..
Cucumbers suffered a bit in the Spring and are not as readily available as usual but we have enough for the Winter..
Thank you, Lord..

We have also had lots of lovely company... smile..

Some visitors making themselves here at home..
Dear little Keeper gals who have been a part of my life for the last several years ..

We shared a few lovely cups of mocha and such...

Another day and some of our company arrived in style... grin..

Brought us some fresh veggies and herbs, had supper and tea and then were on their way home again...

Friday night when the girls were here one of them ran down to the beach and took this lovely photo..
Thanks, Char...
We did not have a Keepers Overniter ...
The girls just sort of ended up here at the same time.. smile..

Oh..
Of course we had some Keeper bread..

Kind of like these two loaves lately rather then just one loaf...
The recipe is on the side bar and the first one there is sprinkled with garlic pepper..

Terry and I have been listening to and enjoying the waves....

So love the Bay of Fundy but we will be heading home next week for most of the time although we will be back for a couple of days each week for September...

Hard to believe that Summer is basically over and the kids head back to school next week..

The tansy is ready to make some more salves...

This past week our precious daughter had a birthday...
Here she is at ten months old...

And here she is a wee bit older with her much older mama...
Where has the time gone???

Then yesterday Terry and I took a daycation.. grin..
I will do a little post on that next time..

Are you ready for school to start?
I do not like to bid farewell to Summer...
She just arrived and we have not had enough time together if you know what I mean... smile

We are usually blessed with wonderful and gorgeous Falls here in New Brunswick so at least we will likely have another few months of warmish weather anyway...

So much to do when we get back home which is good..

I love lots of new projects and one that has me excited is that our sweet girl is coming to paint my cupboards..
Finally, after all these years hubby has given in and said yes...
Oh, thank you, Lord..
And I think we may even paint the pine walls in the Family Room.. Here is hoping....

Anyway...
I know that there are horrendous things going on in the world but so thankful to live in a place where life is mostly normal and God is
the stabilizer of our lives..

So many good things to look forward to..
Getting back to our own dear wee church and the sweet folks who attend there..
Our waterbed,. grin..
Keepers Meetings and projects..
A whole new repertoire of new activities to do with them..
More preserving and getting ready for Winter..
Going to the woods with Terry and taking our lunch..
Bible Study night.. I have so missed this...
Heading to the farm for a day or two a week..
Having my Mom and Step-Dad over for a meal..
Stopping in and seeing my sister every now and then..

Just the little things that we miss when we are here but there are blessings here that we will miss..
Mostly seeing so much of our daughter and her family...
The Bay...
Meeting my cousins here and there where ever we go...
And of course, this old house...
But life is good and I am thankful for all the blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon us....

Anyway, dear hearts this is all for tonight..
Tomorrow I am preparing for a yard sale that will be at the shop lawn on Friday and Saturday...
Lots of junk and some pickles and jams, too..
Just not my dills ... grin..

Sending love to you all and thanks so much for your sweet visit and comments..

God bless..

Company and a Coffee Corner..

Hello there my dears..
How is your week going?
Can you believe that tomorrow is Friday ?

I think the time has flown because of the Easter weekend and then Monday was kind of a holiday here, too...

The rolls above were made from the no knead recipe on my side bar to the right ...
Once the dough is mixed and proven once just pat it out on a very well floured space and shape into a rectangle about 9 x 13 and cut out into 8 rolls with a pizza cutter..
Place on a cookie tray and raise once again...
Bake in a 450 degrees F. for 18 minutes..
They were a nice change..

We had a bit of company the last few days..

My Mom..
Her birthday is next week ...
She will be 81...
Still enjoying life..
Thank you, Lord..

We had a turkey dinner...
A wonderful smelling candle that my son-in-law gave me..
Lemon Verbena...

Then we had a lovely day visiting with some friends...
Reading books, drinking tea and chatting..
The weather has been pretty good and the snow is melting like crazy... smile..

Tonight I tried one of those one dish pasta pots that you find on Pinterst..

This was one of Martha's ...

You just put everything in the pot and let it cook until finished..
Terry liked it...
So that was a good thing.. grin..

I finally finished my little coffee corner..

I noticed it on Pinterest, too, of course and my friend Dawn and I decided we would make one for ourselves..

Very convenient having everything for coffee/tea making all in one spot..

Sugar, little milk pitchers..
Old spoons for the stirring..
I found these at a thrift shop years ago with different kings on them..

The little can holds the coffee filters...

I love these little milk jugs..
They used them in restaurants in the old days and if you are fortunate you might find them at auctions or thrift stores..
I have 6, I think..

I must admit that I keep changing this around and trying to tweak it to suit me..
There are lots of cups and such on the shelf above...
I think it is just about right, now..
There are some lovely ones on Pinterest and this doesn't compare to them but it suits us..

This one is my friend's...

She sent me a picture on her phone so it is not really clear but you get the idea..
I love the tray of pretty mugs and her chalk board is sweet..

If you decide to make one please email me your pic and I will try to show everyone..

Thanks for dropping by, my friends..
Looking forward to hearing from you...

Take care, now..

The first week of January...

Good Evening everyone..

Guess what!
It is pouring rain out tonight..
Yesterday, it looked like the snow photos I am showing you but the temps went up and now the rain is coming down..
The temperature is supposed to go below freezing tonight so I expect there will be some ice out and about tomorrow..
Anyway..
Just a Canadian Winter, I guess..

We had a lovely week..

Made some tabbouleh ..
A salad made out the grain bulgur and fresh parsley and mint...
fresh lemon juice and olive oil...

chopped tomatoes, onion and I add cucumbers...
It is a Middle Eastern Salad that is excellent in a pita bread or just a side salad..

We had some lovely company from this place...
St. Martins by the Bay of Fundy..
We enjoyed her visit..

One day Terry bought us a few lobsters to celebrate the New Year..
We also had some Seafood Chowder...
There is something about the New Year that says serve fish.. grin..

Janelle getting ready to go home..

It was rather a stormy day but she returned home safe and sound..
Thank you, Lord..

This is looking out our living room window one day last week..
So beautiful out there but so cold..
It was nice just to stay home and keep the fires burning..

Our dear daughter and her family are enjoying the nice temps in Florida..
As for me I prefer to be home..
Oh well.. We are all different..
I will be glad when they get back home..

On the weekend we had church..

We were so thankful for a beautiful sunny day..
The last few services have been cancelled due to bad weather so it was great to be able to meet together again..
Love this little group of people..

How did your first week of January go?

I took down most of the Christmas decor today and Terry took the tree outside..
Now, to get it all packed away in the closet for another year..

I wonder what this year will bring..
So thankful to know the One who is control and who will go with us each step of the way..
No matter what comes or what goes He will be holding our hand and we can put our faith and trust in Him..
So thankful for the peace and joy that we have in our lives and for his grace and mercy that follows us..

Thank you so much for dropping by and I look forward as always to hearing from you..
God bless..
